    As I was watching this video an idea popped into my head, if you haven't done one previously you should make a yo-yo. I don't necessarily mean out of pencils but you could or from some wood in a coloured resin.

    • @jenniferkleczka4062
      @jenniferkleczka4062 6 лет назад +3

      Oh yeah, out of some of the shavings he saved from one of his other projects. That would be cool

    • @WolfysMagic
      @WolfysMagic 5 лет назад +3

      Or from a mixture of shavings from different kinds such as wood, resin, and maybe if he works with anything else he could add some of those in

    Awesome job Nick!
    They would both spin longer if you added some weight (ie: ball bearings or extra skate bearings) on the outer areas of each lobe... That's why there are 4 bearings on the original...

    • @BantonOrg
      @BantonOrg 7 лет назад +6

      Spot on. The original idea was to use the other bearings as replacements by swapping them around. It also helps if they are real abec bearings, not the fake poor tolerance ones. Sadly, these wouldn't sell without some momentum weight simply because they don't spin for any length of time. Also, the bearings shouldn't be glued in, they should be press fitted so that they can be removed without damaging them.

  • @paulbird773
    @paulbird773 7 лет назад +1

    im probably wrong with this but from some distant memory of a science lesson a long time ago,as the pencil/resin blanks werent the same consistent density/weight throughout you would get a longer spin by finding the centre of gravity in each spinner and using that to centre the drill hole for the bearing. then they wont be off balance. I think it's something about hanging the object from multiple points and each time drawing lines vertically down from the hanging point. They should meet at the centre of gravity! Excellent channel. Got two under fives who love it and are well up for the makers central meet!

    Nice Job Nick! Might be off balance due to the differences in weights of each lobe containing different different amounts of pencils. Also adding extra weight to the lobes might help them spin longer. I made some with my kids a couple weekends ago. The pencil ones look really cool!

    Some advice with silicon rubber molds ... I use large cookie round cutters stick it onto decifix book cover plastic and places my item to be molded inside the cutter also to stick onto the dicifix, then seal the outside bottom with my gluegun. And pour the silicon it helped a lot with a perfect mold to be sold in my shop

    Hi Nick,
    Is this "FIDGET FRIDAY"? LOL
    I'm very impressed mate, I'm sick of ordering different fidget spinners lol. My kid's lol they're big kid's from 15 up to 35 and their kid's my Grandchildren are crazy about fidget spinners!
    I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they don't see this video... or you can guess what they'll want Granddad to do! Not a hope lol they'll send my head spinning lol.
    I like the look of the moulding liquid! that looked very handy.
    I thought that having pencils in the spinners would have altered the equivalent sides in weight! but they ended up perfect mate!
    A brilliant video, but it should now be locked up with the Crown Jewels for ever so my kids don't see it lol.

  • @HmmmmmLemmeThinkNo
    @HmmmmmLemmeThinkNo 6 лет назад +8

    The point of the outer ball bearings is so you can do what you're actually meant to do with them (this is annoyance at neurotypical people playing with fidget toys/tools neurodivergent people use to focus/keep ourselves calm, not you), and twist them around with your finger. Like, you put it on a flat surface, and then put your finger on one of the end pieces and spin it round, keeping your finger on it.
    As an aside, it's not meant to stop you fidgeting, but to provide a less distracting fidget (so you aren't bothering others with it).
    Of course, now they're banned in lots of schools so they're not much help to those neurodivergent folks anymore.

    I'm so curious... Do people donate their color pencils? Endless supply of pencil projects and I love it...

    I like how as Nick is putting in the bearings, someone else is swinging their foot in and out of camera range.

    I think with the mould you put the item in first if it's heavy
