On The Waterfront, wow what a performance from Steiger in that film. Very gifted actor.

I thoroughly enjoyed him in “In the heat of the Night”. I saw an interview with him where he said that he was shocked when Lee Marvin beat him for the Oscar (pawnbroker nomination). Steiger was top tier.

Very sorry, Poitier's not winning an Oscar for 'In the Heat of the Night' does not reflect the racism of the times. It reflects Mr Steiger's performance, as his character was far more complex than Poitier's.

Good upload about a great actor, one of my favorites. A character actor who could hold a strong lead.
    Not crazy about the voicing.

Great actor. He was wonderful in Heat of the Night. My dad went to HS with him in New Jersey. He was a tough kid.

The astonishing quality and diversity of Steiger's work marks him as among the handful of the greatest ever.
This piece, while well deserved, is weak.

Wonderful is what I'm thinking 🤔🙏🤔 about this Tribute too a Very Special, Bueatiful Human being. From seeing Him in The Heat of The Night. When I was but Eight or Ten years of Age at that Time. He was always an Actor of Whom I was Very Fond of. Thank You so Much for Completing the Story of His Life & His Great Career for me. May He Eternally RIP.

In my opinion, Steiger should've gotten the Oscar for "The Pawnbroker", not "In The Heat Of The Night". After "In The Heat Of The Night", Steiger's career nosedived, and I think it was due to gimmicky roles like "No Way To Treat A Lady" and "W.C Fields and Me". Those two movies were just excuses for Steiger to show off his ability as an impressionist, not as an actor.

No . He said (in another interview on YT) that his career tanked because he refused the role of playing Patton. He said it was the biggest career mistake he ever made.

His diversity of roles... Yet you show a lot of pictures of In the Heat .... while discussing other films, like The Illustrated man... is there no documentation about those other films?
    Doesn't make sense.

I happened upon “the Illustrated Man” last night.
I had no idea who Rod Steiger was, and was just looking for a free movie on RUclips.
Something about Rod Steiger captured me immediately and I found myself irresistibly drawn to his performance and attracted to him as a person.
Needless to say, I became an instant fan and am looking forward to watching his other works. What a tremendous actor and hunk of a man.
