Burt Lancaster was an icon in Hollywood. He had the looks and the brain to perform in movies. He was a brilliant actor who could play any role, and was a very handsome, macho, masculine man with a beautiful smile. God bless his soul always because men like Burt, it is hard to find. They don’t make them anymore which is sad, and Burt Lancaster was unique, talented, charismatic, versatile actor who is irreplaceable. Love the video, it is awesome 👏. Thank you for sharing it.
I see Burt Lancaster as perhaps the greatest movie actor before Brando. He was a great natural talent who also worked hard at his parts. He played many diverse roles persuasively, seeming to be so in the character that he was the character. He played some roles with an almost scary intensity. He had amazing good looks which appealed to most women . He was loaded with masculine charisma. He was the total package.
Montgomery Clift didnt like him. You can tell Lancaster tries to steal the spotlight in from here to eternity but the reality was no one was gonna outshine Clift on that picture.
To me, what makes Lancaster one of the greatest actors is the combination of masculine prowess with sincere gentleness, all done with a twinkle in the eye.

I used to love watching Burt's movies as a kid. He always exuded a quiet strength, a strength that came from a good place. He made you feel that with people like him in the world that things would always turn out right. If ever you got in a tight spot then Burt is the guy you would want with you, and if he wasn't there, then you could always try to do what you thought he might do. I wanted to be a man like Burt and I can't pay him a bigger compliment than that.

Even the most hardliner of American supremacists never considered John Wayne to be a superior artist, and nowhere in comparison to Burt Lancaster atleast. The guy was a star right from his debut in THE KILLERS, earned accolades from the Academy, the Berlin Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, founded America's most successful independent star driven production company(with Harold Hetch & Hill), overshadowed Katherine Hepburn in THE RAINMAKER and held his ground against his own idol Spencer Tracy in JUDGEMENT AT NUREMBERG, all within the first 20 years of his career. Unfortunately, his liberal beliefs at the height of the Cold War cost him deserved Oscar nominations in TRAPEZE, SWEET SMELL OF SUCCESS and even VERA CRUZ(alongside his other idol Gary Cooper). But Lancaster was everything any cinematic legend would've desired and envied.
Many years ago he was a guest on the Phil Donahue show. For an hour he stood on a stage in the center of the audience, and held them spellbound just with his presence, just talking about his life and career. I will never forget it.
My all time favourite Actor. Not only could he play any type of part, but he made some of the best Westerns, of any actor, including John Wayne and Clint Eastwood. He had a captivating screen presence, that draws you in.
A legend of the big screen, and a real mans man. I have loved his movies for 30 odd years, and this documentary sums him up to a tee. He dared to reach, dared to stretch himself, and never concerned himself as to what it may do to his popularity. God bless Burt Lancaster
One of my favorite actors ever. Burt Lancaster not only pushed the envelope in every film project he did, he even licked the stamps before sending the envelope COD! He's hardcore like that, and became better and better as an actor and a person, challenging himself and his audience so that we can be better too in our own lives. He could do a tough guy action film like Scorpio, then do an episode on Sesame Street on the side, because he believed in children even while doing grownup stuff. He was one of a kind. And despite this being the year 2020, his kind is still out there. There is a little bit of old buddy Burt...in all of us, if we dig deep inside. RIP to a legend, and one of the most decent men ever to push the envelope of what's creatively possible.

I worked at a gallery in the 80’s. The director of the gallery told me that she was standing in line to see The King Tut exhibition at the Art Gallery of Ontario and standing next to her was Burt Lancaster. She was blown away by him. She said he had more wow than anyone she had ever met. Handsome, smart, articulate. She said he was the sexiest man she had ever met.
"She said he was the sexiest man she had ever met." Ahahaha - sure. He was a big movie star - that is all. I still laughing always. Otherwise Burt Lancester has many good movies and he was a great actor - and he was handsome too in his young ages.
I was born in 1949, the first picture I remember seeing Burt in was the Crimson Pirate , I thought he was the perfect man, I wish I could have met him. He was amazing, the perfect man-hero, I was heart broken when he passed away. I hope he was happy, I loved him.
Not really the "greatest actor of all time" surely. But one of the movies' greatest stars, even if he didn't ever quite manage to rid himself of his "Noo Yawk"accent. Like his friend Toni Curtis, Burt Lancaster could play any character with a great force and energy of power as well as with kindness and gentleness. He was that rare combination of being a true Star as well as a Top Actor.
My favourite actor of all time. Burt had such a presence on screen, and along with all of the other great movies he made, he made some of the best Westerns ever in his later career, that he doesn't get the credit he deserves for how good they were..... Ulzana's Raid" "Lawman" "Valdez Is Coming" all made in 1971 and "The Scalp Hunters" in 1968.....And the Professionals was also a fantastic movie of Burt's, with an exceptional cast. I loved "Vera Cruz" and of course "Gunfight at the OK Corral".
My fave Lancaster film is From Here to Eternity. I have it in my collection. A handsome and talented man. I liked the way Burt walked. He had the grace of a professional dancer, probably acquired from his high wire act with the circus, where perfect balance was all important.
There will never be any tough guys like Burt ever. The present-day actors are sissies in the presence of such a powerful actor. He did tough guy roles and he was one in his real life too. I grew up watching him and admiring him as a tough guy. I wanted to be one like him. He did most of his stunts on the screen.
Sooo beautiful ❤️ always loved his films he was an amazing actor. And so normal and a straight talker so rare.. And did I mention how utterly utterly beautiful ❤️ he was.

"The Leopard" is one of the greatest films of all time. Some of Burt's best roles are his film noir series. "The Swimmer" is one of my favorites, because it was such a fun short story by John Cheever, one of my favorite writers. No one expected it, but Burt pulled it off, to high acclaim, and it's still a classic a lot of people refer to. He's definitely one of my favorite actors. Every film described here, I've seen, and a lot thanks to RUclips and Amazon Prime. When I lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, there was a fantastic little theater - Plan B - that had a summer film noir series, and that's when I saw more of Burt - playing intriguing characters shrouded in mystery. He tackled every genre, from the ridiculous to the sublime. PS. This "Collection" series is a blast. Can't thank you enough for your contribution to our lives.
Thank you. I really enjoyed that. Burt Lancaster was a superb actor and I enjoyed watching all his movies. Unfortunately there are no longer actors of his quality around these days.
Rubbish... There are still great actors around today.. MICHAEL CAINE... BEN KINGSLEY.. TOM COURTENAY.. IAN McKELLEN... ROBERT DE NIRO... ROBERT REDFORD... TOM CRUISE... JOHNNY DEPP.... CLINT EASTWOOD.. there are others and apologies for not mentioning any of the females who have tonnes of talent also... I always get pissed off by old people moaning about no good new music and no good actors/movies... It's a load of shit to be so asinine - there is fantastic NEW music around if you avoid listening to the crap on most radio stations - also, if you avoid the shite films that Hollywood foists on the bucket of popcorn / brain dead brigade, there are fabulous independent and foreign films available... Stop whining and expand your range.
I spent 3 days with Burt Lancaster in New York City in 1986, The stories he told me about his romance with Anita Ekberg in Italy 1953 was amazing and about his role in the movie 1900
Strange that no one has commented one of Burt Lancaster's best performances - that of a Sicilian prince in Luchino Visconti's "The Leopard" which won him top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. He was definitely one of the most brilliant, versatile actors of the Golden Age of Cinema!
Burt is a success story. A man with much substance. Loved him when I was a child in the fifties n continued to love his movies in the sixties….he‘s far more superior than many actors of his time and a good man. Rest in Peace, Burt!
Burt Lancaster was a giant amongst Hollywood actors. He formed his production company and rejected the studio system. He will always be one of my all-time favorites.
Celluloidwatcher - as william holden once said, lancaster or clift should've gotten the 'oscars' for 'from here to eternity' (as opposed to ensure, it could be inferred).
There were quite a few actors who should have gotten Oscars in From Here to Eternity, but Frank Sinatra's Oscar for Best Supporting Actor gave his singing career a rebirth, of sorts. Anyway, I agree that either Lancaster or Montgomery Clift could have gotten that gold statue, for sure. Of course, Donna Reed, as Alma, the prostitute, won for Best Supporting Actress. Deborah Kerr's officer's wife was a bit impressive, including that memorable beach side kiss with Lancaster. It was, probably, her sexiest role ever in her career.
Speaking of Newman, I really liked Buffalo Bill and the Indians, also with Burt Lancaster. I realize the film didn't light up the sky, but it's so worth a viewing. It has been reassessed, over the years and has garnered much deserved appreciation. Not that, that matters, since I enjoy it regardless. It was directed by my favorite director, Robert Altman, and has two of my favorite actors, Paul and Burt. Also with Harvey Keitel, Geraldine Chaplin, Joel Gray... the western myth making of Buffalo Bill gets turned on it's ear, as only Altman can do. Not as great as McCabe and Mrs. Miller, but damned credible.
Burt Landcaster was exceptional in the classic European circus movie "'Trapeze" with both Tony Curtis and my favorite Signora Gina Lollobrigida. In hard to duplicate scenes, Burt and Gina performed many of their own stunts on the trapeze and made the movie a classic gem. Gina is still alive and .. and doing well by all accounts... and will be 92 years old next July 4th.
I once saw Burt Lancaster coming out of a Greek importing store on Pico Blvd., in Los Angeles. I was surprised at how tall he was, I then turned around and saw him getting into a brown Mercedes sport coupe.
I remember seeing Burt Lancaster in the movie the swimmer, Elmer Gantry From Here to Eternity excetera excetera and when I think back of the old movies he really does stand out. Undeniably impactful very pleasant to the eye admirable character a walking inspiration he had that authenticity like you see that of Gregory Packer Elvis Presley or Clark Gable or Jack Lemmon or Walter Matthau give me the features of these men in the attractiveness attributes authenticity to their own uniqueness is what stands out
Ahead of his time in time of all times! A man of all movie seasons. Many Hollywood movie stars avoided movies that included issues on race and new politics!! Lancaster was a phenom!! A great actor and a great man!

I loved "Vera Cruz" and of course "Gunfight at the OK Corral".
barrygioportmorien1 Don't forget APACHE and THE UNFORGIVEN.
barrygioportmorien1 And THE RAINMAKER.
He was definately one of a kind actor.
why do you write like this
ONE OF MY ALL TIME SUPER MOVIE STAR IN ANY ROLE BURT LANCASTER
Burt Lancaster!!
You were definitely a force to be reckoned with..love your movie's...one of the best actor's of all times..
So unique, bright human being, and grate actor.
I don’t mind reading that over & over. Breathtaking man.
TRUE GREATNESS A GIFTED MAN WITH EQUAL UNMATCHED TALENT ACTING WIT AND PRESENCE THEY DO NOT COME ANY BETTER AND WE WILL NEVER SEE ANOTHER OF ITS LIKES TRYLY ONE MY FAVORITE ACTORS EVER GOD BLESS REST IN PEACE THANK YOU FOR THE GREAT JOY AND MEMORIES YOU BROUGHT US WE WILL NEVER FORGET YOU
We are very fortunate that there is such people as Burt Lancaster to entertain us for a few dollars you forget your trouble ...
Can't thank you enough for your contribution to our lives.
always has been, and always will be my first and foremost favorite actor. Omg, what a man.
When I was growing up he was my favorite actor back then !! so handsome!
@@EnosEverything I would not include Tom Cruise in that list.
@emmalancaster2013 - Watch Tom Cruise in "Interview with the Vampire" -
Austin Butler seems to be a similar person being great, yet humble, good looking while not egotistical, bright...humble
I spent 3 days with Burt Lancaster in New York City in 1986, The stories he told me about his romance with Anita Ekberg in Italy 1953 was amazing and about his role in the movie 1900
Burt Lancaster was simply the best !!!..
He has been my favourite fil star since my early boyhood.
Wonderful biography. I grew up enjoying his marvelous acting!
Man ! He tore me up in Field of dreams
Strange that no one has commented one of Burt Lancaster's best performances - that of a Sicilian prince in Luchino Visconti's "The Leopard"
which won him top prize at the Cannes Film Festival. He was definitely one of the most brilliant, versatile actors of the Golden Age of Cinema!
Estou lendo e vendo tradução era tudo isto é mais um ícone não perdia seus filmes na globo corujas da madrugada via todos artistas desta epoca
Burt was the one who does the job done .all his film was great.
same here, one of the greatest, total class, great films......
If he was in a movie I would watch it !
I love all the old movies and really like to know about the stars
Man of his craft, the very best - thanks for the memories
I loved him. A great actor AND I never heard any lurid stories about his personal life. That, in itself is remarkable.
I got to watch more of Burt Lancaster's movies
I really enjoyed that.
I guess I grew up with him and his fellow actors, that's why 💖
Burt is a success story. A man with much substance. Loved him when I was a child in the fifties n continued to love his movies in the sixties….he‘s far more superior than many actors of his time and a good man. Rest in Peace, Burt!
Burt Lancaster was a giant amongst Hollywood actors. He formed his production company and rejected the studio system. He will always be one of my all-time favorites.

- as william holden once said, lancaster or clift should've gotten the 'oscars' for 'from here to eternity' (as opposed to ensure, it could be inferred).
typo: 'ensure'. i meant 'sinatra'.
THANK YOU. HE SIMPLY WAS THE BEST.
GREAT MAN AND AN ACTOR. I LIKED HIM VERY MUCH.
AMEN@@@@@@@@!!!
ONE OF OUR GREATS
My favorite person as an actor he was beautiful
The guy was 32 when he got into movies, but he had already become a circus acrobat and gone to war. Not a typical film acting bio.
When u Burt in a movie, u know damn sure u gonna see one heck of movie.he had everything everything he was God gift to the movie Screen period.
Perhaps the most impressive guy I ever met, even in just a brief introduction. Not even Paul Newman or Frank Sinatra had such a powerful presence.
Miller, but damned credible.
loved his films he gave is all every time
Burt Landcaster was exceptional in the classic European circus movie "'Trapeze" with both Tony Curtis and my favorite Signora Gina Lollobrigida. In hard to duplicate scenes, Burt and Gina performed many of their own stunts on the trapeze and made the movie a classic gem. Gina is still alive and .. and doing well by all accounts... and will be 92 years old next July 4th.
A lovely ball of intertaining energy with a beautiful heart for all
My one of my favourite actors simply beautiful great actor... Pure perfection
Always loved him
That's a handsome talented man great actor!
Burt was such a wonderfully authentic and original bloke - man's man .... and the beautiful Tina's just made a new fan too!!
PRETERIST LAB - END TIMES you son of bitch
PRETERIST LAB - END TIMES
What a man! I watched everything he did with great enjoyment. His character portrayals were amazing.
O thank you thank you thank you.
burt lancaster pirate movies
I once saw Burt Lancaster coming out of a Greek importing store on Pico Blvd., in Los Angeles. I was surprised at how tall he was, I then turned around and saw him getting into a brown Mercedes sport coupe.
Lol! Yes, he was a tall, big drink of water.
Love the guy
Another one of my favorite actors.
Me three.
Elma Gantry ehen i saw as a kid he was larger than life. Liked movies he made with Kirk Douglas and even st end great cameo in Field of Dreams
I loved his films, Apache was great and so was The Train, loved the train.
The series is wonderful. I lived in the period that you presented those were the days.
