did you realize this is only one of the few available manual manga lineart tutorial on RUclips? In english i mean ofc. Like seriously i've been dying to find one cuz all i've seen so far either ends up completely looks like western comic artstyle or just straight up using digital brush which i can't tell how to replicate
Gosh yes I feel you. Lineart is one of my big weakness. I'm trying to find any tutorial I could refer but it's really hard. Glad this video exist. Thank you.
"Moreover, don't you find the rough looks better? If you do the rough too properly, that becomes the image." This guy just solved my continual problem from the last 10 years in two sentences. DAMN!
There are so many approaches and philosophies to line art that it’s easy to get lost. Speed, light, energy, heaviness... Having said that, this is a fascinating video. Fukuda-san has a ton of valuable insight and a very interesting origin story.
Random Person I mean if you have years of experience and understand how form works etc. then it’s cool. (Although I personally would still recommend sketching.) it’s like, the storyboard of a drawing. (Checking composition etc.)
I relate to that too, i feel the inked drawings lack the dynamism from the sketch and i often end up disapointed, so the answer was working with speed and making rough sketches all along...
"sou desu ne" is all i heard in this vid and im not mad about it. I really like Fukuda"s personality and the way he does his lineart and skecth. Will read his manga soon too !!
I remember drawing with a pen in my art class. My teacher told me to start from the top and end at the bottom. However I drew a little bit of the head, then the hands, then some clothes, then some back ground, then returned to the head, and so on. Basically, it ended with me smearing a bit of the ink because it was still wet. haha. I had to hide it with some random crosshatching so that no one would notice. Really though, I love drawing with a pen. The sound it makes while it scratches the paper is too soothing!
I learned a very important lesson in this video: When trying to replicate a manga-like style, “draw with energy” and add filled in black areas to give your work some life. I think I’m going to watch more of these to get a better understanding on how these pro manga artists work.
I am Brazilian and I love this channel, even understanding little what they say, I love your work so much! I've learned a lot from the mangaka tips and put some into practice! thanks for teaching me this bunch of stuff!
Os vídeos desse canal começaram a aparecer no meu feed, e eu recentemente descobrir q amo ver esses profissionais desenhando e o bom tbm é q tem legenda em português!
Excited to see Fukuda-sensei in more videos! I like alot his personality!! Sounds like the type of guy that you would like to have a coffee with and talk for hours about manga and drawing!
Excited to have more artists on DDD. I was hoping he would talk more about how he decides where he wants his line weights, but it was a fun watch none the less.
I like him! He’s very down to earth. He’s working not only as a pro but for one of the top 3 manga magazines that exist, right alongside giants like Rumiko Takahashi, Mitsuru Adachi, and Gosho Aoyama, but still has a very laid back vibe. Good for him.
The talk about inking fast and having very rough drafts reminds me of Akiko Higashimura on Naoki Urasawa's Manben, If you've got the chance I'd highly recommend you watch it. Also Asano Inio's, Kengo Hanazawa's and Junji Ito's episodes, those are my favorites.
I love Fukuda-san's mangaka origin story. It's so inspirational!! Feels like it's never too late to pursue anything as long as you put your heart, mind, and soul into it! That said, I really wanna read "After the 5 Minutes" after watching this~ TwT
You guys are a huge inspiration I appreciate all your vids. I am learning how to do 3D right now but I have been watching all your vids in my spare time to keep up mentally as a 2D artist as well.
Omg he is soo friendly i watched this video and i was very happy during it He is soo talented man and i love his work Thank u soo much for the Arabic cc
So much inspiration! I am planning to be a mangaka, but manga or comics are not really popular here in my country. So I decided when I got a job and got enough money to go to japan, might as well first become an assistant to manga artist.
That toilet paper trick tho! I gave it a try, and have been using it ever since when I’m inking traditionally. It really works! It’s so nice to be able to ink without smudging. :)
So insightful! I love how he is able to explain some of the reasonings behind his art style, because I always struggle finding the vocabulary to explain why I will draw a certain way. Can't wait to see more videos with Mr. Hiroshi!
By far my favorite manga artist. Sure, story wise, his manga is generic and pretty much similar to any shonen manga out there. But damn, i love the characters design.
for me, i use a *cheap*, but great for detailing fountain pen (Hero 332), a Pilot V7 -HiTecpoint for thicker lines, and a cheap ballpoint for crosshatching, with cheap ink, and i haven't even thought of getting a correction pen, thank you!
i really enjoyed watching this video , iv'e learned a lot from , such as being quick while inking , what paper do mangakas use to draw , and of course the toilet paper trick , thank you so much
i like how he's not afraid to make tangent lines appear in the drawings and is just so chill abt talking while drawing. if I was him, I would've already made a mistake XD
My man is out her using toilet paper to dry his drawings so he can ink faster. What a major Big Brain/Intellect moment.
ok
Mind blowing next level play manga

I thought this was normal

That explain why I don’t feel the same energy when I look at a manga tutorial video in English compared to an actual manga made by Japanese artists.
@@rocas7342me neither, I like to learn from the best

I was literally dumbfounded when I heard that. Never thought of that honestly
am i stupid this isn’t clicking in my brain
I liked listening to him explaining how he discovered that he wanted to be a mangaka

Man line art can be done thousands of ways its mind boggling
I love his manga style, literally its his personality in a paper
omg seriously this guy excudes happy energy i felt so happy watching this :D

Me tooooo
the G-pen sound when scratching the paper feels unnerving yet satisfying at the same time
They're not G-pens, they're Maru pens. Just correcting :)
Wow, he does the sketch then inks it and fixes as he goes. That’s exactly how I do it.
I don’t sketch at all I kinda just drawing it and I can’t fix my mistakes so I kinda just make it out
@@space3484 I don't think I can just draw without sketching. Seems impossible for me.
Space you should probably sketch
@@HiImDaisy I don't think they "should" if they're already comfortable enough to just draw without sketching

I love Fukuda-San, I love all the other mangakas you've had on here but Fukuda is probably the most open and friendly one so far
I could relate to that. My sketches looks much more better than inked ones...
So. I'm your opposite. My lining just bad, my sketch way better
I relate to that too, i feel the inked drawings lack the dynamism from the sketch and i often end up disapointed, so the answer was working with speed and making rough sketches all along...
agate rizky what? How is that the opposite
agate rizky that’s basically what they said so how is it the opposite🤦🏽♀️
It’s because the line is usually by itself and it makes the art look flat it’s hard to explain but if you understand then you understand
Me waiting 1 hour before I return inking vs this guy and some roll of toilet paper

I love these interviews. There's so many person specific techniques and so much passion for their craft. That's exactly why I love art so much.
I had never heard of this manga before today. But the way it started has me completely invested in it now. Thanks for sharing the awesomeness!
Nice to hear from a mangaka that isn't so serious all the time, seems like a genuinely fun person to hang out with

Bro gofun go no sekai is the BEST manga I have ever read this week like it made me feel so much emotions. I cried so hard when the characters died.
