Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Tourbillon - The Skeleton Killer!

- The only thing I regret about reviewing this watch is one thing...
That I didn't get to size it and actually wear it! Even though I got to hold it and salivate at what it would be to strut around the Miami club scene sporting it, I really couldn't size it to my wrist. These watches are rare and this particular one was for a special client that was eager to pick it up...unworn!
I've reviewed the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked before in rose gold (see the review here • Audemars Piguet Openwo... ), but that wasn't a real AP tourbillon. This one is! A tourbillon...from Audemars Piguet for Christ's sake, and you know how much of an AP fan I am!
The 41 millimeter Royal Oak Tourbillon is an amazing watch. It's also available in rose and yellow gold. The steel edition is limited to 100 pieces. I call this watch the “skeleton killer!”
Even though this tourbillon from AP is in stainless steel, it retails for a whopping $204,000! How do you feel about that for a stainless steel watch, huh?!
But high prices are a pretty normal thing when it comes to tourbillon models of the big three watchmakers. In fact, I have a rule of thumb that says that you'll likely always pay over $100k from the big three with “tourbillon” in it!
For this model, you should expect to pay close to retail or slightly under retail. They're pricey!

in my opinion i think it is best to just do the review on the table too much going on the video that i dont care about
Most people like the new lifestyle angle or the reviews. We can't please everyone, but thank you for your input.
Came to say the same, simply I used to come here for watches if I wanted more I would go else where..with the new style it feels like there's hardly enough time to focus on the watch itself.

The double balance rips over that tourbillon dial. Youre tripping if your think this piece looks better. Tourbillon or not, the double balance looks far better.

Very interesting video. AP used to be a supplier of mainly ultra thin watches at the 70s they had the thinnest movement in the world 1.64mm for the hand wind. The manufacturing was so much into details that it had a painted bars in the dial to keep saving volume. Rose gold with Champagne dial and corocodile leather strap. Might no be biger than 35mm. That was pure class. The local Patek Dealer would also have the APs at that time an unknown brand. I am not into golden watches however would have a Day Date in white gold. The perfect size would be 39. Though steel would be better.

Sure I love Tourbillions from Patek and AP but tourbillion Killers for me are the JLC Gyrotourbillion and the Lange Datograph Tourbillion!

Cool drive around the design district Eric. Not sure however I would put Rolex up with Patek or AP. Top three for me are Patek, AP and VC. Also why do you think this watch will not carry a premium? The regular SS openworks has a large premium.

It's the first ap I've looked at and thought no thanks, even if it was half the price it wouldn't get me wanting it and believe me I love ap's. I guess the aesthetics of it just aren't to my taste.

I went to the AP store for X-Mas in Vegas.Abdel put a 185k tourbillion watch in my hand.He explained the whole mechanisms to me for 30 minutes.was in there 1 hour. The Richard Millie store, the Patek store, the Rolex and Hublot Store are in the same mall there...best day ever

my goodness. where does it end?. you start with a 10 K, then you say to yourself: i can afford a 20 K. next thing you're buying a 50 K watch . later on, you up it a little more to 70 and 80 .then suddenly you realized what you paid for the watch could buy you a lot more important things than just a ticker.
if i had 200K to spare?. i'd buy me a Porsche and a rose gold sky dweller.. but that's just me.
