Boy, you really challenge yourself! I did the trip up to Minchin Biv in 1964, but someone in another party had an accident on the way up to Minchin Pass so two of us had to go out to Mt White Station to get help, arriving about 3am! That was a 19 hour day, and one I will never repeat. A useless factoid - in the 1930's my Grandma was working as an apiarist, and each year her boss, Grandma, and a couple of other apiarists used to load a whole lot of hives onto the train and get dropped off at Kelly's Creek where they set up the hives and camped in the Otira River flats. 3 weeks later they would pack up and take the bees back home on the train, with the hives loaded with bush honey. Thanks for the vid - I have been up around that country on a few trips many years ago, so thanks for reviving the memories.
Haven't done a 19 hour day, only topped out at 14hours but can appreciate its not something you would be looking to repeat in a harry:-). With all the flowers on the river flats I can certainly see why it would be a fabulous place to place bee hives during the summer months. The flats along the Taramakau were ablaze with wild flowers.
A wonderful and challenging hiking trail and a fantastic video of your adventure! Incredible scenery.
Glad you enjoyed it!

@@Getoutdoorsnz You can fall asleep whilst you are walking! Horrible waking up though. Re bees - I suspect they were after the rata honey.
