Palermo is probably the most undervalued city in Italy.... Highly recommended for those who want to discover the best italian gastronomy with a really exceptional variety, of pastas, sweetery, stret food and much more, the is a very high level of qualiy and variety of delicious traditional italian and sicilian food from pastas to seafood, swettery and street food; therefore if you are an internationl tourist who wants to try the best italian kitchen Palermo is a "must" an should defintely be in your to do list... Furhermore the historical center of the city has so many sites to be visited from different ages and styles, on top of them the "arab-normann" architectural style; the other main advange of Palermo is that within the city you can already find very beautiful beaches with crystal water, which is a feature difficoult to find in a city in Europe or in Italy.... Downside: the traffic jam can become really unbereable and the city is pretty chaotic and dirty, but important to say that the city is really safe, safer than many other major european cities like Paries (for e.g.) Unfortuntaely many international tourist are afraid to cross the line and stop the their trip in the peninsula to Rome, probably because they're afraid of Mafia and crime, but by doing so they're surely missing probably the most intersting part of our nation...
We 100% agree with you Claudio! Palermo is most probably our favourite Sicilian city and exactly as you described: the perfect combination of foods, culture, history and energy, it was dirty but did not feel unsafe. Traffic is easy to avoid by not driving in or near the city 😅 Palermo is definitely undervalued and should never be missed during a visit to Italy! 🥰
The guy giving unsolicited historical facts of the area to complete strangers is the most Sicilian thing in the video. We are just very proud of our land ❣️
Thanks a lot guys !!! You showed my city on a way I don’t for long time . I live in Palermo now after 8 years of London and I never see in this way . Thanks again from my heart .
I agree on that Palermo is one of the most undervalued city in Italy. It has perhaps not as big city centre as Naples has, but Palermo's centre is full of arab-normann heritage. Sicily was the only region of Italy with arab rule. Instead of Naples, Palermo has Normann and Arabic heritages not only Greek, Roman, Spanish, Catalan and French influence. This is the value of Palermo, the most diverse cultural heritage. Perhaps near the city there is neither such a stunning seaside like the Amalfi Coast, nor islands like Capri, Procida and Ischia but Palermo has Mondello, Sferracavallo and in a radius of 50 km Cefalù, Terrasini, Castellamare del Golfo. In farer distance there are San Vito Lo Capo, Trapani and Egadi Islands. I was 2 times in Palermo by now.
Different regions were ruled by different races yet a majority of our blood (all sicilians) are native to the island! Hence why we are so diverse the Greeks did not founder Palermo. I’m of native Sicilian yet Ancient Greek too!! Anyone native to here would be native Sicilian and Arab and Norman and we are all proud not mixed of anything we are ancient blood! We respect and enjoy every bit of life and culture! That’s why I’m proud to be sicilian!!!
My family comes from Sicily, specifically from Agrigento which is close to Palermo. I havent seen all of your Sicily videos yet but if you haven't been to Agrigento it is a must. Some of the greatest sites including La Valle dei Templi and La Scala dei Turchi. Thank you for doing videos of Sicily and presenting all the positive things of the island, culture and people. Its important that this gets out to people instead of the stereotypes that people use to view Sicily and Sicilians. We are warm and hard working people and not all of us are mafiosi!

I have been hearing about Sicily for almost 2 years! I am so crazy about this place! Sicily became a must-visit destination in my bucket. Do I have to have a car roaming around this gorgeous island?
In some cases, you can avoid renting the car. Example, a few days holiday: Hotel in Catania city center (via Etnea area in Catania. That is, historical center). From there, excursions with jeep pickup to Etna; another day, bus to Taormina; another day, bus to Syracuse. For short holidays (2-3 days)
We were two weeks in Sicily during the last summer and you do need a car! Having a car will take you hours to move between two very close cities. Imagine not having a car! They have motorways which date back to post-2nd world war. And I'm not joking: they truly are.
@@lr9882 If you spend two weeks in Sicily, yes. I recommend renting a car and a modern GPS. Some Sicilian motorway sections are among the newest in Europe but, the majority, dated, true. I do not recommend the train for many reasons

Hey guys, just wanted to thank you for making these inspiring vlogs! You both look very adorable exploring the world together, seeing young people like you having their best time travelling just makes me smile! :)
You can make spritz with either Campari or Aperol, and they're quite different. The homeland of this drink is the north-east of Italy (Veneto - Friuli - Trentino), so you gotta check it out once you go there. Anyway, since its increase in popuplarity, nowadays is kind of the "Italian drink" and you can find it anywhere (even in UK lol)
Thank you for sharing that, Mike! We will be visiting those areas soon 🥰The joys of the world getting smaller, at least the delicious nectar can be enjoyed outside of Italy! 🇮🇹
Hey Francesco, thank you for the recommendations! Sadly, the Catacombs are temporarily closed and it looked like the Norman palace was under construction. I did not know about the the Spasimo Church, the Zisa and the Chinese Palace. We will have to cover those when we return next time! 🙌🏽😅
@@TheGlobalExpats I would also add Mondello. Thank you for visiting my city. I am watching the whole Sicily series and you guys are bringing up a lot of memories. Love your videos, great content, and editing.
Just got back to the ship about an hour ago after exploring those places like you did. You're not joking about the heat! I couldn't believe how hot it was. If you're reading this before going anyone...wear nothing. If you can walk around with thin layers, do it. Also, the Hop On, Hop Off was good because it's only a 45 min round trip.
Some days ago I came across your channel. Your videos are very interesting. I visited some of the towns and cities in Sicily you visited. I also visited other parts of Italy including Rome & Florence. I will be watching all your videos.

Beautiful video! Such an exciting place and you captured it well. I love Sicilian and Italian food - but really don’t enjoy the taste of Aperol (can’t imagine why anyone would drink that for pleasure! It reminds me of horrible tasting medicine when I was a kid! But we all like something different!!
The cathedral is amazing. Of course the tomb of King Roger that you said was 'underwhelming', is that way on purpose. The incredible food of Sicily, my personal favorite, And All Of Italy Is Unparalleled. The prices are far too reasonable as well. Really gives you perspective on how everyone else, like here in the U.S, and others places, are getting seriously ripped off when it comes to quality of food, and prices. Another reason to love Italy, as if you needed more. Enjoy!
Hello, amazing video❤ I along with my husband are in Palermo right now. Wanted to check on the beautiful view restaurant you showed before the lift capture. Can you let me know the restaurant name please. Thanks
Going here in a week's time, so excited but heard it can be quite the expensive trip! Looked up that hotel - Hotel Ambasciatori - and let's just say it's no longer 80 euros a night any more! Can't imagine the apperol spritzs are still 3 euros each either! Definitely going to go to Mondello Beach up the coast!
I'm hooked on your Italy videos. Ive been there so many times, and will continue to go there because I enjoy the same things you enjoy, plus Pasta dishes , like Vongole. Maybe you confess your love of Pasta in one of your videos, I'll see. I'm in love with Matteo and his constant smile.I wish he would comment on where he learned his inner joy, if that is his source of the smile?
Thank you so much Peter, that is one of the kindest things anybody has ever said to me!☺️ I do love pasta and vongole is a treat 😍In terms of my inner joy, I would honestly say it has developed over the past few years. I am generally a happy person but as cliche as it sounds, I would put it down to being present in the moment, and because of this, the past and future aren’t something I choose to heavily focus on so that helps me feel less anxious/stressed and allows me to smile more I guess 😅
OMG, this is something I am looking for! thanks! And it is really post-pandemic era there? I saw your post date was 9 August 2021. I can see everything is normal there now!!
I just visited Palermo. I hated it. For me it was literally the "Paris" of the south. And yeah, I don't like Paris either. But i truly like Sicily though. The small villages stole my heart
Have you seen the cathedral, the Teatro Massimo and the Teatro Politeama? Did You ate Arancina, Cannoli, Panelle and Sfincione? Did You took a swim at Mondello beach ? If you haven't done these things you haven't seen Palermo well
@@DB_Craft_872 I ate Arancina, but not in Palermo. But in several other cities. Same for cannoli. The best Canoli i have ever had is in Erice. Had a Panelle as well, but however i didn't taste the Sfincione. Yes, i have seen the: Teatro Politeama, Teatro Massimo and the Cathedral. I also have question for you: have you seen the traffic agression, heroin junkies and a lot of imigrants in the city? Cities like Trapani and Erice, Marsala, Agrigento and Siracusa is way better than junkie Palermo.
@@HalfLife333 I'm sorry but the Arancina is only in Palermo, what you ate in other cities is the arancino which aesthetically is the same as the arancina but is pointed and the filling is different, then you should have tasted the Sfincione and drunk the water with anise because these things are specifically from Palermo, not Sicilian Regarding immigrants it is very normal, Sicily is right in front of Africa, what did you expect? And in any case there are many more immigrants in Northern European countries, then Sicily has an HDI (if you don't know what it is, look it up) higher than all of Latin America, all of Africa and most Asian and Eastern European countries

Great video, truly enjoyed..My father was born in Castellammare del golfo..,my family is now from Bensonhurst,Brooklyn..want to visit my extended family over there soon, haven't had the chance yet but definitely within the next year or so...Thanks for the reminder of a much needed vacation...,🇮🇹
I'm going to Sicily soon and your vlogs give a lot of interesting information. Thank you 😊
Great video guys, I am from Palermo and I love it too but I live far from it...so love it for me too, please! Go to visit Palermo and fall in love with it.
Thank you guys for bring your experience of our city on RUclips ♥️
PALERMO PER SEMPRE 💗
It’s the same that happened with pizza, carbonara, tortellini and many other regional specialities that then became national classics
Yes, it's funny! Spritz exploded in Sicily only 3/5 years ago... Must be for the tourism?
Just been there last week..what a city! Aperol Spritz its my daily..
You are so right! It is an awesome city and Aperol Spritz is the best, Ramdan!
Thanks for Represent in Palermo 🔥
You are welcome, Mizan! 🥰
Thank you guys for showing me to this amazing city.... I'm moving next year to Palermo. 😊
You are welcome Ahmed, you are going to love Palermo! 🥰
Italy is WONDERFUL !!!
It truly is! 🥰
You missed the Capuchin Catacombs with mummies and the Normal Palace with Palatine Chapel...and the Spasimo Church...the Zisa and the Chinese Palace
@@TheGlobalExpats Well, I visited the Norman Palace in July and it was open.
This is very helpful! I just booked my flight to palermo for End of May - for a week! Cefalu, Trapani are included. Pura vida! from Costa Rica
Some days ago I came across your channel. Your videos are very interesting. I visited some of the towns and cities in Sicily you visited. I also visited other parts of Italy including Rome & Florence. I will be watching all your videos.
Really enjoyed this one (as usual), the english accent in the lift was so accurate ha ha for a mary poppins movie. Didn't realise you filmed using a mobile phone? Loved Palermo definitely want to see more of it.
Thanks so much Mark! 🤗 Yea, we use our phones to film - The iPhone 11 Pro & the iPhone 12 mini since they shoot in 4K, plus we have the DJI mini 2 drone 😊
@@TheGlobalExpats when is your next vid out?
It will be out on Sunday! 😊
@@TheGlobalExpats can't wait!
No way!!! When I went to Palermo in 2017 I stayed at the Hotel Ambasciatori. Funny because at the start of the video when you were on a rooftop area I was thinking it looked alot like that of my hotel and then a few seconds later found out it was! Love your content by the way, thank you!

Seriously guys sucha great video quality and obviously Palermo looks amazing.
What is the name of Bistro you stop to eat at Via Maqueda? BISTRO Maqurda also had the food or just the drinks?
Thank you for the video
Hi David! Yes it was just called Maqueda Bistrot - they have both food & drinks for great prices! 🤗
Well done guys. I'm travelling to the Aelonian islands thanks to you!!!
Hey, great video. How much did it cost to go upto the cathedral rooftop? ❤
Hello! What is the name of the restaurant at 15:03? The rooftop views look surreal!
Amazing video:)))) sure the best spritz :))) Veneto, Lombardia, Abruzzo, they all rock, but the one in front of Duomo is our best :))))
Palermo❤️
My city, but now far away from there 😔
The cathedral is amazing. Enjoy!
I would say not much diversity in Italian food every cafe offers same stuff..compared to other cuisines
Really nice video 👍👍👍 ciao from italy 🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹🇮🇹
Thank you so much! 🥰🇮🇹
Proud to be "Palermitana" the things that to me are normal for you are like surreal, and that makes me so proud of my city

I love your videos. We are planning a trip this September. I was wondering if it is legal to fly a Drone?
If so did you encounter any rescrited areas?
Hello, amazing video❤ I along with my husband are in Palermo right now. Wanted to check on the beautiful view restaurant you showed before the lift capture. Can you let me know the restaurant name please. Thanks

Going here in a week's time, so excited but heard it can be quite the expensive trip! Looked up that hotel - Hotel Ambasciatori - and let's just say it's no longer 80 euros a night any more! Can't imagine the apperol spritzs are still 3 euros each either! Definitely going to go to Mondello Beach up the coast!
Nice video & reportage 😊📸👌👍🍀

Hahaha I can’t help it Kyle! 😂
If you haven't done these things you haven't seen Palermo well
@@DB_Craft_872
I ate Arancina, but not in Palermo.
@@HalfLife333 I'm sorry but the Arancina is only in Palermo, what you ate in other cities is the arancino which aesthetically is the same as the arancina but is pointed and the filling is different, then you should have tasted the Sfincione and drunk the water with anise because these things are specifically from Palermo, not Sicilian
Regarding immigrants it is very normal, Sicily is right in front of Africa, what did you expect? And in any case there are many more immigrants in Northern European countries, then Sicily has an HDI (if you don't know what it is, look it up) higher than all of Latin America, all of Africa and most Asian and Eastern European countries
