Just got back from Sicily and Calabria. Catania was the most pleasant surprise of my world travels. Medieval, friendly people, great churches and of course, Mt Etna
I was born and raised in America, same as my parents. I’ve been learning more about my family and where I’m from. Turns out, this is where my grandmother is from!! It’s very nice being able to see more of where we come from. My grandma is an amazing person so I’m glad I feel more connected.

Absolutely, you should be proud of Italy, it’s full of history and unique architectures from Roman empires which inspired me to travel the grand tour of Italy started from Lake Como, down to Venice, Florence, Ferrara , Assisi, Pompeii, Sorento peninsular ended in Rome. Such a wonderful memories.
You are really seeing the Western Mediterranean in detail this year. I've only seen the east side of the island, mainly Catania and Syracuse. To me, Mt. Etna looks like everyone's idea of what a volcano should look like - just perfect.
@@RyanShirley Not this year. This year is U.S. and Canada only. It's still a little up and down out there. My friend and his wife went to see Portugal and Spain. Tested clear before leaving, all vaccinated and boostered, too. They had Covid somehow when they arrived in Lisbon and spent two weeks in a hotel room. and then flew back.

The baroque architecture there is just incredible and I'm sure you would have been stunned by it, be sure to go there next time you come here ;)
I am looking to relocate to Sicily. My fathers family was originally from Carini, Sicily. Are there any towns you recommend. I am looking to live a very peacefully life. Away from the main tourist spots.
@@josephinevera9966 Hi, sorry to be late but I just saw your comment. Carini is a nice town but, being near Palermo and by the sea, it may be a bit chaotic, especially in the summer. If you want a peaceful place to live I suggest to look for a town in the inland, for example monti Sicani, the area where I live (my town is Bivona), even though there are other issues here, like the lack of public transportation and not so good roads. On the other hand houses are very cheap, you can eat a lot of locally produced genuine food and you're surrounded by nature.

Just got back from a 3 week visit of Sicily. Hit almost all the places mentioned. Did more of a wine 🍷 tour. The food was amazing. Eat n drank way way to much.

Now me and my Fiancee are debating between Amalfi and Sicily using some of your videos as a guide. You do an amazing job giving a true idea of what each place is like and if it's suitable for a visit.

Clearly you was there during summer, and best way to spend time in Sicilian summer is swimming and snorkeling. In other terms, better stay on the coast. But can't miss in a video like this Erice, fairy tales stone village on the top of the hill, often surrounded by own cloud that means fog in the village, Noto, georgeous Baroque city world heritage, Modica, city inside a canyon famous for the chocolate too, Gangi, pictoresque hill village, voted as best village in Italy in 2014 and Marzamemi, pictoresque and unique fishermann village. About nature, how forget, Vendicari Natural reserve, with beautiful beach Cala Mosche? Of course in a top ten some choices must be made, but these places are a must.

Now me and my Fiancee are debating between Amalfi and Sicily using some of your videos as a guide. You do an amazing job giving a true idea of what each place is like and if it's suitable for a visit.

Erice is an amazing little town outside Palermo. Probably some of the best cannolis you'll ever have outside Marsala.

Honestly I have a few spots I want to visit beforehand like Aeolian islands, Cefalu, Taormina, and Etna. And other places I just find while I’m there or driving around

After flying into Palermo’s airport, I’ll be taking the train to Capo d’Orlando, rent a car to Naso, back to Capo for some time and then the train to Taormina and then Syracusa. That’s just for starters. Then there’s Pompeii, Bologna and Milan.

Great job as usual Ryan. But this time please accept a little critics: This video is too much unbalanced to seasides. Clearly you was there during summer, and best way to spend time in Sicilian summer is swimming and snorkeling. In other terms, better stay on the coast. But can't miss in a video like this Erice, fairy tales stone village on the top of the hill, often surrounded by own cloud that means fog in the village, Noto, georgeous Baroque city world heritage, Modica, city inside a canyon famous for the chocolate too, Gangi, pictoresque hill village, voted as best village in Italy in 2014 and Marzamemi, pictoresque and unique fishermann village. About nature, how forget, Vendicari Natural reserve, with beautiful beach Cala Mosche? Of course in a top ten some choices must be made, but these places are a must.

Hey Fran! That’s a tough one, I really love the Greek islands, especially places like Zakynthos and Milos. I also love Mallorca and Ibiza.

Oh goodness, Sicily is so beautiful! I have always seen Amalfi but not as much Sicily so I'm putting this next on my list for traveling soon. I always think that travels are made easier when you have the best travel gears and essentials too. The bento bag from Nomad Lane is my best carry-on bag for dream vacation destination like this one.
