What size would you recommend for a 20x40 bed mill? Are 20,25 large enough or do we need enormous 30’s? Also how well do the blocks work where a heavy bed is hanging over the end? My thought was to install 6 blocks, 3 on each rail to the center rig the saddle but that means a 60” table will hand 40” over where the 6 blocks would be grasping the end 20” section. I know most large vmc machines run so there isn’t any overhang and that’s why the machines are so large given they typically don’t have the travel you’d expect from their size. Interested in hearing your thoughts and advice.

How many guide blocks should be used on one rail? If mounting plate is not too wide twice the width of guide block

HI! it might sound like an odd question: Is it possible to install the rail upside down? (in the sense that the weight would be pulling the block downwards)

Yes, that is fine. The bearings are located above and below the angled sections of the rail.

Are these genuine "HIWIN" Linear Guide Block? Are made in Taiwan or China? I can not see HIWIN on the block or rail.

The ones show inthe video are HIWIN brand, but the ones we sell are HIWIN spec. Ours are interchangeable and we state on the product page that the ones we sell are not HIWIN brand but are HIWIN specification.

why doesn't your website include any dimensional diagrams or this product? Or can you possibly give me a link to the diagrams?

I just finished a drawing that has dimensions for the HIWIN spec linear block.
You can find it here as one of the selectable images: www.buildyourcnc.com/item/mechanical-rails-HIWIN-Linear-Flange-Blocks
      Or directly here: www.buildyourcnc.com/images/HIWIN%20spec%2020%20mm%20linear%20guide%20block-800.JPG

Is these rails and blocks strong enough to make a lathe out of them?

You can use these rails in machines that are dedicated to milling steel, yes.

Not really, Derek was on the phone as you can see from his expression, and Juan and I were having fun. Gotta have fun every now and then, or work becomes monotonous. Henry was causing trouble.
