    Hi guys! Those Jeff & Suzie people sound cool! 😂. They must be Canadian 🇨🇦! We sympathize with you about the snow BUT, we are west coasters and ski so…. On another note, we are planting flower’s tomorrow and looking forward to our Canadian beaches and boating. BUT, it never lasts so that’s why we will seeing you in November! ❤️. By the way, you were supposed to have a beverage with mom on the beach, but totally understandable with the temporary sarcgasm issue right now. Soooo, we shall all have one when we get there, Cheers! P.S. we have to go google potato Ricer? Racer? now! Suzie thinks it’s a potato masher, I think it’s a peeler because you have a partner to “race” with. 😳

And the item that Ricky brought is his ‘Potato Ricer’. It reminds me of a play dough toy where the spuds get squished through these teeny tiny holes 🤣 See you in November!

    Love your video showing us where it all began. We live in a small town an hours drive each way from Toronto and Niagara Falls. I'm with you regarding winters, must be nice not having to put all your winter gear on. The people in Mexico def have had their work cut out for them dealing with the sargassum, they do work so hard trying to clean it up. Looking forward to seeing what's in the future.

      Hi Debbie, yes you are so right that the Mexican people have their work cut out for them regarding sargassum. To me, Ricky, it's like when you clear your lane of snow and our's was a half Kilometer long and then waken to a new blanket I wanted to cry!! It must be similar but for everything there is a season and it too shall pass! Thank you for your comment. Ricky

      Hi Greg, thank you for the interest in our home and where we live. We don't really like to say exactly where in town we live but we are in the neighbourhood of Villas Uno on the La Colonia side of town. Villas Uno is really the first neighbourhood you will come across when travelling North from La Colonia town centre. After that you go into Villa La Playa and the Villas Dos and the gated communities. We like Villas Uno because it is very close to the town centre and shops etc. Perhaps in the future we will give an update on our home and how things are working out for us but so far we are very happy to be here!

    Thank you for sharing this. :-) It seems really hard to imagine us moving with only a couple of suitcases, as we haven't started "the purge" yet. We really like the Riviera Maya region, but didn't want to be constantly seen as gringo tourists. For this reason, Cancun and PDC are out. What has your experience been with the barrage of people selling tours? What has your experience been with paying higher prices than locals? How hard was it to adjust to the heat and humidity in the summers there?

    • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 года назад +3

      Hello, Thanks for watching and your comment (really good questions)
      Although, we moved with 2 suitcases, this may be extreme and not to everyone’s personal taste lol 😂
      We do not feel like ‘gringo tourists at all’. We live in a neighbourhood with a lovely mix of people from different places with the majority being Mexican. We also are fortunate to have made some amazing Mexican friends here.
      We live in La colonia, and don’t get offered tours. When we go to the beach, we go directly to our fav beach clubs and again don’t really get asked to go on tours. If we are hanging around the pier or the main park on the Portside, we might get asked if we want to go on a tour, but we say no thank you and that’s it. No drama.
      As the pricing, on a day to day basis we feel like we pay the same as everyone else - for food, restaurants, cenotes etc. We have gotten quotes for gardening (for example) and if we feel the price is too high go with someone else.
      As to the weather …. yes the summer is very hot and humid. We just tend to live a little differently in those hot months. For us, it’s okay 👍
      I hope this helps a little

I’m sure you know how the real estate market is here now. We also watch the shows you watch ( moving to Mexico, house hunters etc: ) and we watch many many videos on Peurto Morelos. Actually, we visit the resort EL CID twice a year, we are actually heading there in two days. We are thinking about renting in colonia two months a year for starters, and will make a decision sometime down the road as to buy or not. We loved the process of your moms house and how that all went down. Thx again for the vids and keep up the great work

      Hi Danny, that's great that you are making plans both in Canada and Mexico. We think it is a really smart move on your behalf to rent in La Colonia for a couple of months so that you can get a good feel for the town and see if it is a fit for you and your wife. When we first came our plan was to use PM as a base but we just loved La Colonia so much we bought almost straight away. We have no doubt your house will sell very quickly as things stand in Canada at present. Good luck with everything and thank you for your kind comment.

    14 long winters in Maine, we can empathise on the cold, snowy winters. I always said it was like Narnia...without the talking animals!
    Anyways on to the important things - Ricky's potato ricer 🥔. Fair play to you Ricky you've got your priorities right. I (Fiona) came rather close to carrying a potato masher and potato peeler around with me in my backpack, unfortunately I just didn't have the space. Mashed potatoes cannot have lumps and Kerrygold is key 😉. You chose wisely; packing what in essence sums up happiness, love, comfort, warmth, memories and life itself - your potato ricer. ❤❤

      Hi Fiona and Jerry, I, Ricky loved Canada and the snow, to a point! Once February rolled around I was pretty much done shoveling and blowing snow but unfortunately I always knew that I would still be dealing with snow in May. It made for a long winter which is why we decided to leave. As for the potato ricer!! We can sometimes pick up Kerry Gold Butter at Cosco's and when we see it we stock up! I do miss Irish potatoes though, I loved in October when we could get the freshest potatoes straight from the field and boil them in their skins with nothing more than salt and of course Kerry Gold!! I do still make Champ though lol!!

      @@RickRackTravels Irish spuds are the best! Here's the lengths I'll go to, to get Kerrygold. When we lived in Mazatlán we didn't have membership to Sam's Club. I'd heard they sold Kerry gold there, so I went there and selectively stalked someone in the shop. This poor unsuspecting lady was very kind and agreed to be my butter dealer. She was a little hesitant at first, who could blame her? it's not every day you have some mad Irish woman approach you in a supermarket with fistfuls of pesos asking you to buy her butter! 😂🤣

    Good show!👍 I have been tossing the relocating idea back and forth on my mind for quite some time. I’ve read and watched videos about quite a few different places. First thought was Roatan but medical facilities and living costs are not that low as it is after all an island. Belize next but again medical facilities are not apparently not so great. So on to Mexico, I keep telling myself that we should spend a month or more in your neck of the woods to see if we can really adapt to a different lifestyle but then we end up on a cruise ship for weeks on end instead! • @RickRackTravels
      @RickRackTravels  2 года назад +1

      Hi Juanita, that’s a hard one to answer! I suppose it comes down to money and what size of house you would want. There are great gated communities on La Colonia side but they are a little bit out of town. Selva Escondida, El Faro and Palma Real to name a few. Alborada is a condo unit located in Villas La Playa which is closer to the town centre. Puntarena is a gated community in the Pescadores neighbourhood which lies between La Colonia and the start of the road to the Portside. There are also private homes for sale in La Colonia, Villas Uno being the closest to town followed by Villas La Playa and finally Villas Dos the furthest one. There are a few new condos being built on the Portside but private stand alone houses are very limited. We hope this helps you with your research and good luck with everything!
