- Apparently, it was just a rumor that Vans hired security specifically to keep Jimmy away from the premiere. He had free-range to throw his iron-grip and probing questions at every pro skater he came across.

Also, so stoked A.V.E. is finally getting his props. He's one of those rare powerhouse skateboarders, that everyone in the industry praises and respects and was way ahead of his time in a lot of ways, but since he always skated his own way, never jumping on trends, never entering contests, and never seeking the spotlight, he didn't reached the popularity with the public that guys like Chad Muska, Paul Rodriguez, or actually almost any other pro did.
It really sucks that Alien Workshop and Habitat went under and lost their mojo. They really were a kind of haven for low key skaters, uninterested in the limelight. Sure, as a business, you want your endorsers out there promoting, but it used to be that they could do that through skating alone. Hell, I used to buy their boards, and for years I had no idea what A.V.E.'s, Kirtchart's, Pappalardo's, or Wenning's faces even looked like. I knew them from grainy ass lo-fi footy, but I could recognize their skating in seconds.

Damn! When I was a kid I wanted Vans to make a video soooo badly, but they never did. They had such a gnarly team. Stanton, Rowley, Trujillo, Salabanzi, Greco, etc. Fuck, who else did they have around just after the turn of the millennium (like 01-05)?
Anyway, this dude is awesomely annoying. Love watching half these guys look like scared deer in the headlights when they see him approach. The other half are the legend veteran dudes that don't even sweat him.
Oh yeah, Dollin, Hassan, Cardiel, and Van Westell (RIP). I know most there were others, and most of these dudes are still on, but many were in their prime then. They missed their chance with both Cardiel and Van.
