This song should be played at every funeral. It's interesting that George, being my personal favorite Beatle because his songs hit me perfectly and personally, is the one who left a hopeful message in his last body of work recorded, while knowing he was dying. I can't help but love this man.
Profound song. Harrison was a mystic and his insights on the human condition and his personal testimony of his search for God is really special, like the hidden treasure one has to uncover inside the fluff of most of The Beatles music. The most under rated and gifted of all The Beatles. This song's lyrics are very deep.
I've been listening to Brainwashed again recently and it really is a fantastic album. The pity is that it was posthumous and people thus tend to interpret the songs as being related to mortality. One or two do seem to be about dying, but I think many, like this one, predate George's illness. This is a song that should be life affirming, physically and spiritually. It's not about the specter of death IMO. What I like here: beautiful slide guitar that rests perfectly on top of the rhythm section. Also, the uke--does anyone else here it back there in the mix? As on most Brainwashed tracks, George's vocals are unadorned and clear most of the time. Jeff Lynne does not deserve flack for his production on this album. I find it quite laid back and tasteful in the main. Some numbers are sparse by his standards. I think he treated songs with grace and dignity.
Even "Stuck inside a cloud" isn't about his terminal illness, since it was recorded end of the '80s-beginning of the '90s, when the cancer was a long way ahead. "Looking for my life" is about his 1997 stabbing & near murder, of course! think the only song truly about his illness was "Horse to the water", included in Jools Holland's album "Jools Holland & Friends".
George had no fear of death, so any mention of death was sublime. He knew his spirit would go on. His faith was so much about making the most of dying, of doing it right, as he knew that was definitely not the end. Olivia's experience at his death bed affirms this. What an extraordinary man he was, and is!
One of George's best songs by far. What I can't understand is people making negative comments toward each other on this page.Shame on you,George would of really kept his distance from RUclips and social media in general because of all the negativity generated by some of those who abuse it.
George Harrison's 67th BD was yesterday, but I didn't recall it until today; although for the last 3 days, I have heard in my heart an ear worm: George's RISING SUN! I IMAGINE heaven is always rockin' with The Spirits of George, John Lennon, Jeff Healy, SRV, etc etc etc who have passed through The Door into NIRVANA: which is The State of being free from suffering for the fires of greed, hatred, and delusion have BLOWN into the Wind. Thanks for posting this gift, little sister, xoxe
DEAREST PILGRIM, JOURNEY SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED/THANK YOU FOR SHARING IT WITH US AS YOU MOVE ON.TO.YOUR NEXT EVEN MORE.GLORIUS ONE/PRAY FOR US AS WE DO.FOR YOU. 🙏 ♥
such a great song..thanks you Dhani & Jeff for making this the song George wanted it to be and putting this album out so we can have it..I miss George so.
You know what, George probably had the most distinct guitar style of all time. He's the only guy you can hear two seconds of guitar from and say "that's George." Not just the slide guitar, although that was his trademark, but any guitar style he was playing.
Been a fan of George since 1964. He became my all time favorite musician and miss him so much. I was fortunate to meet his son and sister in law and sister. Ringo too. Will never forget seeing George in his Dark Horse tour. We will see him again. He was wonderful💓
"programed into guilt" great song especially since it was one of his last pieces of work. He left us far too soon! Missing you forever. George. Thank you for your beautiful gifts to us.
Love me some George. I appreciate his son Dhani and Jeff Lynne for co-producing his last masterpiece, Brainwashed. George was spiritual and optimistic...and funny. May he rest in peace forever.
George Harrison was good person, used his talents to full potential which is more than most people do. He left comforts of home to play in violent pubs in Hamburg at age of 17 with his mates ( Beatles) not knowing what the future would bring. Most people would have stayed with mum and dad and job as plumber.
Once I'm able to, I'm definitely getting the lyrics "But in the rising sun you can feel your life begin. Universe at play inside your DNA You're a billion years old today" tattooed.
George's music has opened so much in me. I came across "All Things Must Pass" at the most turbulent time in my life. George made me realize a lot of things in my life. He turned me on to Eastern religions that fit me better than Western religions, meditation, and the Sitar! Thank you George, for all you've done, and all you continue to do within you, and without you.
Thanks for posting this, and the pictures! Part of what I love about George, besides his music, is that he was focused on living fully, and not focused on dying. He kept making music, he kept close to the people he loved. What a joyous person he was!
Ogni volta che ascolto questa canzone mi commuovo!! Penso che un artista cosi' non tornerà piu'!!!!!!!!!!!! Grande George rimarrai sempre nei cuori di chi ti ha amato!
I think Brainwashed is the most touching and beautiful album of George. Really... All the lsongs bring tears to my eyes. RIP George... one of my heroes. I hope you are in Heaven now, writing songs with John, and see us from above. I miss you, I miss you, I miss you :'(
The ghost of memory trapped in the body-mind is obviously the true, immutable SELF, which the beautiful George found and brought to life in the rising sun and in the head filled with light, as we can also do by following his example.
damn this cd came to me when i was going thru very hard times...i was depressed...and the weather was rainy and cold in a place where it's not usual to have this weather...i remember that i took a trip with my friends...listening to this song...in the very very morning.....such a beautiful sensation that i can still feel everytime i hear this song...damn..it makes me cry...but it's a lot of words to say that it's a beautiful song....nice video by the way...
There was never anything phony about George, can't say that about a couple of other Beatles. He was also one of the most underrated musicians of his time, his talent was discounted by the industry chiefs because it wasn't as commercial as many of the others were. I have been a big fan of George from the start, and it saddens me that we will not be hearing any new material from him any more, at least in this life. See you in the next Georgie boy!
What a beautiful soul. He found me when i was lost and there is so much wisdom in his music. If only there were more like him. Listen to his music and find yourself. Hare Krishna.
I am trying Brainwashed slowly... one at the time... I love the rising sun, marwa blues, stuck inside a cloud... the rest still waits there on this last CD from George. I'm so grateful to George, Dhani and Jeff, for letting me listen once more to his beautiful music.
Darn, I've never heard this before and I'm usually on top of Beatles stuff, even the solo stuff. George was certainly a trooper, sang right up until the end. Poor George, shame he is no longer among us. RIP Georgie Porgie, miss yeahs!
I wish I could get hold of a copy of Brian wash CD I've tried every were if anyone can get me a copy much appreciated , joeflynn7@aol.com , I'll send the money
George was always special. I love his music and his beliefs the way he promoted honesty and spoke against corruption and violence. He died of lung cancer from smoking sadly.
thank you 4 posting this. it might have been years more before i found out this existed. i didn't think to look up anything about GH after his due date, i thought it would just be labels cashing in. now i know, and you helped change my life. I'm not a different or better person, it's not going to save the whales and not important to anyone...except me. You made this day and countless others much brighter. thanks again, and thanks to all Harrisons and Jeff Lynne.
the best Beatle of all, in my opinion, I love his music. It touches my soul!!!! Miss him!
Me too. When I had to choose a major, it was Harrison that got me to think of only two options, the priesthood or environmental studies.
Absolutly a most elevated soul
My favorite Beatle ❤️
My opinion too...George practiced all the time...spiritually physically and emotionally all the time...what a man
Listen to the words...they are powerful.
George Harrison as a musician and as human being was a gift to Humanity!
Period.ॐ ॐ ❤
This song should be played at every funeral. It's interesting that George, being my personal favorite Beatle because his songs hit me perfectly and personally, is the one who left a hopeful message in his last body of work recorded, while knowing he was dying.
I can't help but love this man.
oh, what lyrics ...! George, Your spirit is the Rising Sun!

I have so much love for George. He gave the world such great music and hope. The best slide guitar player ever.
George Harrison was always Bang on the Truth ❤️🌈🌞 God Rest His Soul ❤️🌞⭐️
Thank you George, Dhani and Jeff Lynne.
George Harrison was so deep. He was spiritual without all the hype, so natural. Love ya George, hurry back we need you.

George did not fear death. It was another part of his journey he anticipated. He's still around us in the universe. I miss him being on this planet.
George Harrison’s music gets me through every day. I love his music.
I absolutely love George Harrison and his music
Brilliant. George was a genius of melodism.
As much as Sir James Paul McCartney was?
One of George's best songs by far. What I can't understand is people making negative comments toward each other on this page.Shame on you,George would of really kept his distance from RUclips and social media in general because of all the negativity generated by some of those who abuse it.
I started meditating, about the same time I discovered this song. And it has taken a deeper meaning, which I can't fully explain
I believe you now know - of our infinite possibilities and love for life 🌿♥️
My hero. I hope to meet him someday. I love you George.
he is die, you can't know him...
ivan perezI think that Tom's desired place to hanging with George is really Heaven. Nice one!
*****
I tried to explain the desire of someone who isn't George... It's a little bit confusing, you know,,,
+ivan perez Please use a dictionary or a translator next time. Not to mention the futility of your comment. Thank you.
+d m He hoped to see much clearer after living in the material world.
As a singer , this song keeps coming back to me, true words ,very clever

Missing this gem amongst men, he had true spiritual, humility & love evident by his considerate respect just to be w/him or do the smallest favor
right on Hare Krishna!!
Brainwashed is a great album. Thank you for leaving us a goodbye gift George. Many a day has it played me into the right frame of mind.
Once I'm able to, I'm definitely getting the lyrics "But in the rising sun you can feel your life begin. Universe at play inside your DNA You're a billion years old today" tattooed.
Did ya get your tat?
George did his finest work, while literally on his death bed. "Brainwashed" is the perfect album.
That solo! Maybe the greatest sounding slide guitar ever recorded! Thick as molasses.
Listen to a song called The Bluest Blues. Its awesome...ruclips.net/video/rB6OlJqV1rQ/видео.html
his voice and jeff´s strings make me cry...rip George.
