Hi! What layers do you use to organise everything? I sometimes get confused with what layers should be in front of others. Some how I manage to place a few items with different depth arrangements under one layer/group, which I end up solving by just putting on a separate layer but it just makes the file messy. Is there another way of doing this and another way of arranging this all to avoid a messy layered file?
Also, I forgot to ask, where did you find those cool illustrated people cut outs and plants? I really like the textures you use, but I assume you just compiled those over time into folders?
Hi! Well, for me it's usually like this, the more layers I create the better! Try to separate every element/object into new layers, so when you need some change it is easy to get specific parts of your image. Now the key point here is to always organize them into folders, give them colors and names. I like to use Green for Vegetation, Purple for People, Gray for Background and Yellow for Lighting, so when I open any of my PSD files they are all organized in the same way, it saves a lot of time! But all of this isn't worth knowing if you don't use the auto-select mode with your ctrl. The selection tool (V) has an option to turn on/off the auto-select. You should leave it turned off with the drop down menu next to it in "Layer" (not groups!). Then when you're working in an image you just have to hold Ctrl and click in the object that you want to select the layer, it does automatically for you, so you don't have to spend minutes trying to find one specific layer under a pile of unamed layers! I didn't know if you already knew that, but I decided to share! Once you start doing this, you'll work much faster! Hope that helps! Cheers!
I do have my own library that I've built over the years, but most of them were downloaded straight from Pinterest! There are a lot of collage type plants and people, just have to search for them and it starts to show up!
Hi! In love with your illustration and skills. Only one request though, can you please add voice over or simple text in the video so as to which tool you are using? It is a bit difficult to understand for the beginners.

Stefano Agudo Hi, ours is a relatively new channel in RUclips. But we do Archviz breakdown and Architectural presentation videos. Do check out and subscribe if you like our stuff :)
Hey great video! Can you tell which third party plugin you used to bring out the details, like you said towards the end of the vid? And where one can get it?
Thanks, very useful tutorial and beautiful collage! But I would also like to know the best way not to have those white lines between shapes. Maybe starting with an autocad export with "Shaded" or "Realistic" appearence? Thanks a lot!!!!
Thanks! You could invert the lines to have them black instead of white or just completely delete them. We need them lines only yo use as a reference guide
Hey! Thanks for your great videos, and even more for NOT doing the graphic directly without masks! Once i started trying this kind of images I realized that would be a hell doing it without them ;) There is something i can't get from the tutorial and it's very important, at min 11:19. How can you import the guy image but at the same time the mask just for the guy? I mean, i want to add people to my collage but at the same time being able to edit directly ONLY the "person" image and not the rest of the layer, excatly as you do in the tutorial. I know i could make a mask manually, but there must be a much more efficient way to do this, and working with the intelligent object does not allow to do "everything". Any advice??
Thanks! Follow these steps: With your desired layer selected, make a selection around the texture you want to copt/move Then hit "V" for the cursor tool Finally, holding *alt* drag and drop your selection to the side
Hi Unnathi! The lines are in a separate layer on top of everything. I just turned it off, I only use the lines as a guide to insert textures and colors.
Yes! You could do it in Illustrator since there's no soft shadows. But you'd have to do in a slightly different aproach, using lots of masks and maybe Photoshop to cutout some of that vegetation background
All the texture I used was found on Pinterest, like this one: pin.it/k6rl3sgi3cy5rm Or You can also check out Mr.CutOut website for all sorts of cutouts and textures: www.mrcutout.com/?OUGraphics
Hi, just wondering how do you make the lines white or rather how did you ensure the materials did not cover the lines? and do you recommend only using white for the lines for this type of illustrations?
Hi Jade! You can use any color on the lines, white usually gives a lighter feel to the image and it doesn't appear too much on the composition especially if the background is also white. To ensure that the lines will remain white at the end, here's what you can do: You either duplicate the base layer and place the copy on top of everything, make sure the base layer is transparent with only the lines and that they are white colored. Or during the image creation you could use the magic want to select inside the lines and always work within these boundaries, then at the end you turn off the base layer and you will have the same effect. Let me know if you got it! 😉
Thank you! For cutouts I usually go to Mr.cutout website! They have a very good variety of images! Check the link in the video description. Also for vegetation, a simple google search gives you a lot of options. Cheers!
I had gone through the same problem then searched in online and watched videos then found the solution , you select the texture of that particular layer , you press "w" to activate the wand tool place it on the texture image then press V to activate move tool and the press Alt and drag ,alt and drag
Hi!! Thanks for sharing your works with us! You have amazing turorials which I enjoy all of them!! I have a simple question, how can I turn black lines into white as you did to your base image?
Hey Ana, it really depends on the image and how big the project is. But for an image/collage like the one from this video, it takes me around an hour to make it. At first you'll definitely take more time, all you need it practice. Also the more you learn shortcuts, the quicker you'll become 😁
Hello! Thanks a lot! Those textures were downloaded straight from Pinterest. You can search for Collage Plants and you will find plenty of options. Hope that helps!
Well that drawing can be done directly in Illustrator, or any vector type programs. But this one was different, I exported the 3d scene into PDF and then opened in Illustrator to fix up some lines before going into Photoshop.
In this step I created a simples mask on the layer 7 using a rectangle selection. Then to remove that little piece from at the bottom of the canvas I used another layer as reference. Ctrl click on another layer thumbnail to have its content selected. Then simply paint the selection black Let me know if you got it!
I usually search for free textures on google or websites such as textures.com. Also there are some high quality paid websites that provide free samples, check out poliigon website!

Outra maneira seria jogar a layer base para o topo da ordem das layers, segurar CTRL e clicar na thumbnail dessa mesma layer (para fazer a seleção somente dos pixels do layer selecionada), então pintar usando o ALT + Backspace na cor branca. With the layer selected, grab the rectangle selection tool and make a selection over the texture, then using the pointer (shortcut V) drag and drop using ALT inside the previously made selection. I hope that helps!
Hi! So what happened at 1:24 is this: I painted the whole window black, then duplicated the layer and dragged it a little bit to the side and bottom (45°). After that, I used this black rectangle that is on a different location to create a selection, and with that selection I deleted what I wanted from the original black window. Therefore creating a shadow just to make the width of the window. You could alternatively draw this shadow using the rectangle marquee tool, or the polygonal lasso tool as well. The method that I used was just to make it the perfect size on both sides. I hope I could explain it! Let me know if you got it. Also, you could use RUclips's built in feature to slow down the video. Just click o the little gear to open up the video settings

Im sorry i am a really beginner.. But how do you turn your sketchup file into a simple line like that? What style do you use and do you render it first? Thank you
No problem asking, I'm here to help! The best way is to export the scene as .EPS or .PDF so you can import either in Adobe Illustrator or Adobe Photoshop. I recommend both for the first program and only .PDF for the second. For a basic render, I always check "override materials" and turn on the ambient occlusion options. Hope that helps! If not, hit me up!
What extension or plug-in are you using for basic rendering? I am on SuPodium and cannot find the "override materials" or "ambient occlusion options, nor in Sketchup itself. Thank you!

Never understand why people dislike nice tutorial like this, thank you so much!
Maybe because this style of collaging is oversaturated in social media, it lost its uniqueness because everyone just does the same thing
Or maybe because it’s not the video they dislike but the final result + the whole collage obsession thing in architecture
