Thanks for making this Davie. I do appreciate your “feet on the ground” approach to fly tying, keeping things simple and basic. A pot, a splash guard, and a hairdryer and anyone can have the colors they need.

Another master class video Davie! Nice to see you enlisted the help of the "kitchen police" ;o) I've yet to try dyeing materials, yet, but I have washed feathers, on the skin and loose, as well as fur pelts and tails. Sometimes they're very dirty, especially deer tails. So I use a laundry stain remover called OxiClean, and a dish soap like Dawn. The Oxiclean stain remover comes in a spray bottle, I'm sure it's the same as the powdered OxiClean with water added. So wearing gloves, I give the material a few squirts, work it in, then it goes into a vessel of warm water and Dawn. Agitate and soak for up to ten minutes or so. Then rinse. It makes the material clean and bright, the white on feathers and hair practically glows. I usually dry between towels or the loose stuff like you do with a hair dryer. All the best to you and your "helper" :o)
