  • Why are so many people talking about leaving Canada in 2024. Immigrants come to Canada for a better life but their dreams get shattered when they don't find their dream jobs and they have to work where their skills don't even matter.
In this video I will give you a complete picture of the reality here that why people have to do the low skill jobs first and how they can eventually land a job where they want to be.

So here is the thing, a bit of background: Been in Canada for a year now, earning decent money here. But, still I don't see myself here for more than 3-4 years. Below are the factors:
    1. Real Estate is insanely overpriced. I am a value investor, and purchasing real estate in Canada is not an option for me. If you end up purchasing, your equity would be highly concentrated in Real Estate, and believe me prices would correct some day.
    2. Disposable income is low. This is again, due to high rent/EMIs. Your std of living would be better in India, anyday. Here you have to think twice before spending.
    3. 5 months, weather gets to you. Jan-Feb would be gloomy, cold, gets to your mood. I need the Sun.
    4. Insane competition for white collar jobs, this would be true for next generation as well. Easily available talent keeps the salaries low. Not much benefit for the 2nd generation, they also would likely struggle here.
    A bit positives:
    1. Clean water/air
    2. Less traffic compared to India
    3. Toronto as a city is great, good vibes.
But again, going back isn't easy. Its up to you at the end of the day. I would likely go back.

Great comment. Yes whatever you said is true to some extent. But situations in the next 3-4 years will depend a lot on elections and government policies changes in the coming 1.5 years. So things might change. Property prices correction might not happen but yes salary increse and disposable incomes might improve if inflation comes down and if economy grows steadily. We are still optimistic but will never invest everything in real-estate, diversification is a key to wealth generation.

Well it depends on lot of factors, in which sectors do you work, what are you career aspirations, In India do you think you have a lot of growth opportunities. Additionally, what's your family situation are you single or married with kids.

Worth coming as student if making 20000 a month?

If you are making INR20000 / month in India, first try to gain more experience and skills to reach your maximum earning potential in India. Then see with same set of skills how much you can earn in Canada and is it enough for the choice of lifestyle you want.
