Walked into Guitar Center the other day looking to try out a few Marshalls and a Bugera T5 and they had one of these crush 120s hooked up to a Orange 4x12. I plugged a used Les Paul into it and couldnt believe my ears. I left that day and couldnt get that orange out of my head. I wanted another tube amp but this thing sounded so good and had amazing tone at bedroom volume. It was exactly what I needed. I called the store back and found out this was actually a used amp that had been mismarked as new. They only wanted $300 for it. I drove an hour back to that store and walked out with it and couldnt be happier. Looks brand new, sounds amazing and was cheap as hell. Wanted a new bedroom amp and ended up with one that will do that and gig if I need. Perfect.
I like the way you play. Some great Blues licks you're pulling off there, and I'm usually not too impressed with the vast majority of youtube videos. Aside from my 27 year old Marshall 8100, I've never been too keen on solid state amps, but I'm actually contemplating getting one of these after hearing your demo of it.
I have a Marshall 8100 that I've had for 26 years! I have not had to do anything to it other than clean the pots a few weeks ago. Great amp. Did you ever get this Orange? I just did and love it. I have a full Marshall stack which I stole one of the 4x12's from to use with the new Orange. My only complaint is I can only use one 8 ohm cabinet with it. Which is ok, as i still use the other one with the Marshall and eventually i want to get a pair of Orange 16 ohm 4x12's.
I did indeed buy the orange cr120 just because of Dave’s opinion And i love it ! And i hope Dave get paid by Orange for the work hè did in making the video’s hè deserves it !
I got the cr60, needed something smaller than my fender twin and old mosfet Marshall twin. Love the orange, was a pain to get a cover, need it in this weather, all thanks to Dave. I'm 70yrs now, love all music, still gig each week, me an Dave have the same hair style, ha ha, bless him. Rodge David Kidderminster UK 😀
I can't help but be inspired by Dave's everything. Facial expressions, focus, passion and talent, of course. Watching him come alive as his soul speaks through each note is almost more gratifying than playing the guitar myself. It's like he just knows what I'm feeling at any given moment and translates it into music for me through whatever guitar/amp combo he might be playing at the time.
Thanks so much again Dave. You'll not recall but I bought my CR120 a year or so ago because of your playing and tones. It has been and is and ever-more will be, one very special amp. Been playing it through a Blackstar closed back 4x12, but this week I get my very own Orange 4x12! It's such a versatile and easy-going amp. I've got my own favourite tones dialled in now and it is awesome. You know, you give so many of us quiet souls, sat by ourselves, so much pleasure and for that, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Take care.
The CR 120 is clearly a gem - especially when you want something simple. I have a Katana 100 and I am loving it - but for getting into its full potential you need to invest some efforts. Sometimes less options help you to stay focused to playing guitar instead of messing around (endlessly) with settings and effects. Modern solid state amps blow tube amps out of the water, the Katanas and the CR 120 are some proof ... My own tube amps can't compete. I hope that Orange shows some appreciation for Dave's great work and promotion. And I would like to see more videos with the great Dutch Telecaster.

I'm going to buy either the 35 watt 10 inch or 60 watt 12 inch combo for practicing and small gigs I think. Great amps. They sound killer. Just killer..

But, being an open back combo, I realize my experience has a totally different dynamic than a closed back cabinet. I guess they are better suited to the open back thing.
Not gonna lie. I like the cr120 the best out of probably any orange amp. I just find the rockerverb and the other tube amps to be a little muddy and dark for my taste. I have a cr120 with marshall 1960a and it sounds killer. Might pick up a Marshall silver jubilee and I'll be set.

One more thing ,why is it with all ,I mean all orange amps the meshed cloth covering the speakers always looks like an old man's nut sack after literally 1 day of use 😂
I play alot of heavy metal music and 80s style rock but I love shit like this too... Dave always has great tone. Shit super dave has even got me playing more like this now and I used to always have to have some dirt on my sound but lately I've been putting more soul on my sound.

Hands down the best recorded sounds I’ve ever heard from a CR120, the higher gain stuff sounded a bit dark for my taste but I know that’s your taste. The crunch, at the point of breakup stuff was excellent!

Did the speaker make a huge difference than what you were using before? I'm playing my cr120 out of a no name 4x12 I've had forever. Curious to how the orange cabs pair up with their heads.

I'm a MESA Rectifier and Marshall JCM800 guy and even I love this Orange amp. Great playing as always mate, you're an inspiration! Keep up the great work...
Btw, subscribed.
Thank you. : )
Thank you again. : )
I look forward to Dave's videos so much , thank you for your passion!
Thank you very much indeed. : )
Dave. Thanks for the great reviews on the orange. I'm getting tired of the digital stuff I'm using. Thinking about getting the CR 60 and going back to pedals.
Thank you for watching. : )
I think I'm gonna buy one just because of this video.
I just got my cr120h today, thanks to you. It sounds amazing !!!
I'm so happy to hear that and have fun. : )
Dave needs to be an Orange Ambassador.
I have 3 orange amps a marshall dsl 40c and peavey and I will say that I use my cr120 the most...I use it even more than the dark terror tube amp...These cr120 are awesome as you know and sound great through a 2 12 closed back orange cab with vintage 30s...Buy 1 if you haven't it's the best deal in the guitar business...
Thanks dave. We can always count on u for some good tunes when theres none to be had.
Thank you. : )
Class playing dude really enjoyed the performance 🤘😆and the amp head is nice to 👌
One more thing ,why is it with all ,I mean all orange amps the meshed cloth covering the speakers always looks like an old man's nut sack after literally 1 day of use 😂
Thank you very much. :)
@@thedavesimpson can I ask Dave ,is a dark micro terror with say a marshall 4×12 or 2×12 loud enough for band practice,🤔 thanks dude
I mean will the amp be enough to power the speakers,
That tone at 37:42...Damn. That's the stuff right there. Well done, Dave! Great video as always.
Thank you very much indeed. : )
I play alot of heavy metal music and 80s style rock but I love shit like this too... Dave always has great tone. Shit super dave has even got me playing more like this now and I used to always have to have some dirt on my sound but lately I've been putting more soul on my sound.
Dave thanks for sharing your abilities with us. You are an amazing guitarist. All the best this year
Thank you very much and all the best to you to. : )
The part from 37:40 to 40:40 with the Les Paul sounds absolutely mean!
Oh man. That intro was amazing!
Dave. That intro was...outstanding!
Thank you very much. : )
Dave, this is my 3rd time watchin this video. I live every video you put out for us, so thank you! I gotta say you are definitely one of my favorite guitarists and you turned me on to Orange a couple years ago so thanks for that also. Anyways just wanted to say how much I appreciate you on here, cheers and have a great day!
Came to check out the amp, was mesmorized by your playing!
Hands down the best recorded sounds I’ve ever heard from a CR120, the higher gain stuff sounded a bit dark for my taste but I know that’s your taste. The crunch, at the point of breakup stuff was excellent!
Thank you very much indeed. : )
Dave Simpson You’re most welcome Dave. I don’t know if you remember me asking a while ago, but I’ve a real Gretsch 6120 (Japanese) you’re welcome to demo. I don’t live too far
Just got one at gc for a good price, it's used but looks mint. I have a bunch of other amps but gas was strong on this one.
Great video as always. Cheers
Cool profile pic
@@lilTwigLP thanks buddeh. Got both the guitar and tattoo around 20 years ago and they've been with me ever since.
Thank you very much. : )
I love mine. Had it for 2 or 3 weeks
Love hearing Link Wray
Fantastic playing sir ! Might I suggest more amplifiers as there appears to be a troubling shortage there !
That riff at 11.30 is kick ass
It is really nice to listen to you play. :)
Thank you. :)
Buying one this week! Cheers!!
You're the reason why I bought my CR120c from Zzounds.
:) Happy to hear that and I hope you like it. :)
I liked Orange Amps, I play a TH30 (valve), so I would like to try an solid state amp, but only if it´s an Orange! Thanks for your videos - always an impression!
Hi Dave just got a new cabinet for my cr120 wow it amazing
decided on a PPC 2X12 with vintage 30's
i am sure the rockerverb is better than the cr120 bc of the tubes but sometimes I wonder how any amp could ever be better than my orange Love it!!!!!!!
Did the speaker make a huge difference than what you were using before? I'm playing my cr120 out of a no name 4x12 I've had forever. Curious to how the orange cabs pair up with their heads.
@@Street-Shred82 oh yes best sounding cabinet i have ever heard
Good gravy Davy ! Excellent as always, dig that amp man
Thank you very much. : )
Hi Dave! Love the vids. I recently watched your Boss Katana review again and I had to buy one myself. Like you demonstrated, it sounds incredible!
Thank you very much. : )
I bought this rig because of your videos
Amazing mellow sound!
Thank you very much. :)
