Is that Dave? I am so very thrilled and pleased for you that you have a tour booked for 2025. Very well done lad, John Joe, Kiera / Cici etc anyone involved in Red Giant - This is truly most excellent news. The band is too good to ignore nor passover. Please, please, please give yourselves a big pat on the back. Acknowledge and bask in this HUGE achievement (Dave!) because it is EXACTLY that! Hard work pays off, and the music is GOOD!. Congratulations!
That sounded like some legit TOOL vibes, i don’t recall you playing similiar before and I think I’ve watched 100’s of your vids, did i miss something earlier, regardless you are awesome, a real genuine awesome human.
An old work friend was once given a Marshall JMP100 head by his relative. He went as far as sending it too Marshall in Milton Keynes to be over hauled. At the time he paid about 350 for the service. New tubes, transformer labour etc. A few months later he went and chopped it in for a Line6 spider 2x12 combo. This was back in 2002/03. I often wonder how badly he regrets it.
What an insane decision??? I am not at all a Marshall guy, preferring Orange and Vox as far as British voicing goes and overall *greatly* prefer Fender/Peavey/Mesa for my tastes and uses, but even I would never trade anything of value for a damn Line 6 Spider. What was the insane justification for that choice??? Volume? Versatility? What was it?
@@ivecaughtfire7431 I think he got tired of lugging around a head and cabinet. Funnily enough he left the 2x12 cabinet with me. I still have it after twenty plus years. it has 2 x G 12 H greenbacks. They are either 1972 or 76 i 4get.
I got the sc20 combo last year in a swap for a few pedals that can’t have been worth more than £400, bargain! I run this at the same time as my orange AD15 and it sounds pretty amazing! Great video as always Dave, and enjoying the red giant album 😊
I had the combo version of this one. It was really treble-y and boxy sounding, likely because of the 10" speaker. From what I hear, the person I sold it to really likes it, which is good.
I've got my JCM800 combo rigt here next to me. Broke down couple times but it remains unbeaten for tone when I absolutely crank the shanoongas out of it
Dear Dave, you can make anything sound like a million dollars, but this "studio" thing is a great tool. I really admired the way it took pedals! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thing it sounds a little bright (especially in DI) - compared to your tone - better suited for studio work where you can "dehisssssssssss" it 😊. Great demo as always! 👍
Epic playing as ever! ❤ Considering its an amp you hadn't liked previously, you made it sound like you and it was fantastic! Do you think this would be loud enough to gig?
Where to start? Ok, I thought you didn’t like tube amps. I’ve heard you say you really like digital amps like the Boss Katana etc. Do you only like Marshall tube heads? And, how does this amp compare to your new Silver Jubilee? I thought the tones were really smooshed at the first part with the Guild but the rest of it sounded great. I heard the fizz here and there. BTW I bought a new Guild Aristocrat with hollow body and P90s. I know they have the one with humbuckers but I wanted to try something different. It’s an incredibly well made guitar 🎸. Still getting used to the transition from my favorite 💘 MIJ ST62. Another great demo in your book 📖✅. 👍☮️🌞🎸🎵⭐️
id take the direct DI on the back and a ribbon on the cab and U67 in the room.....great sounding amp...perfect for studio tracking, rehearsals and live....
Personally, I'd use the EQ knobs, but I can certainly understand why you're not. I mean, you're getting the sound in your head without using them, and isn't that what we're all striving for (getting the sound in our head) when we start playing? Good luck on tour mate. I hope it parlays into something bigger. ✌️🇦🇺
If you're ever able to borrow one of the Mini Jubilees, I'd love to see a comparison with your new full-sized Jubilee. It would be interesting to know if you'd come away with a preference for one in a direct A/B comparison or if you'd come away thinking both are worth having. 😀
Did you roll off treble and presence? There's no bite, no highs. It sounds dull and muddy. Jcm800s have great, bright upper mids and highs for best crunch.
I hate to say it but that's the worst JCM 800 tone i've heard. You need some treble and presence to get the amp to sound decent. Then add a tube screamer and you got a killer sounding amp.
Maybe you don't like JCM 800s because you always automatically turn down the tone knobs no matter what on every amp ever, which isn't how they were designed and is pretty rare. I admit it often works like a charm, but sometimes an amp just has to be dialed in without prejudices going in. Don't interpret that as me sticking up for these amps; I have the plexi too and think it's better for me personally. Rather, think of it as me rolling my eyes before saying, "Of course," and clicking away because only you and Chris Buck, off the top of my head, hate treble, which is fine for you guys but not representative of anyone else, does that make sense?. If the tone stack being down, helps you get the amp cooking just like an attenuated input jack would, then why not? Except, don't you find it restrictive? At least if you're not starting at the extremes, you can still dial things out not just in. IDK who I'm trying to convince LOL Anyway have a great tour.
I don't like ice pick treble either... there's quite a few more of us than you seem to believe. Just saying... But that being said, I love the jcm 800, I believe that they are criminally underrated, if only in terms of versatility to start with.
@@quiksilver78 I won't watch Glen actually. He's infuriating. But I’m curious what you’re referring to. I’m a speaker junkie and I know he made a big deal out of the new v30s but I didn’t watch, because he’s just going to state his opinions as fact, ending with an insult and repeat, all with an insufferable “spoiled, only-child” personality.
@CraigFlowersMusic haha well hes always advocating for speaker changes to alter your tone - rather than the usual path guitarists take with EQ tweaks, pickups, and in some cases those people that claim that paint changes tone (or wood on a solid body electric guitar)

Opinion: I owned a JTM60 anniversary head.. because I wanted to pretend I was slash.. I also wanted to enjoy that amp.. neither dream came true :D .. years later while prerusing YT, I started to notice something about the other JTM's .. a significant number of them seemed to me to have a presence problems.. like my JTM60 did (before I sold it.) .. turning the presence knob past 12 o 'clock did NOTHING.. and forever did the amp seem far away. Why am I talking about all of this? .. because.. after hearing your demo Dave.. that's what this sounds like to me. Now.. in all fairness the JTM combos seemed (in YT videos) to work fine, not every one of them but a lot, and only a few of the heads seemed to work. .. so to sum up.. to me sounds like the presence is broken.

Problem is these amps need cranking. Which means you need an attenuator. But if you use a cheap attenuator it can mess with the sound of the amp you can lose top end. So you have to spend big bucks on a high end attenuator. Or compensate by boosting it with an eq pedal

Loved the music Dave, just keep playing and enjoy it. I think it's great more more more Hope I can learn to play like that someday.. Before I die
What a genius way to sell an amp. I was never a Marshall guy but hell, Id buy one now.
I was going to ask your opinion of the DSL1 but you gave it freely, thanks i think. BTW your playing especially around the 11.40 mark is wonderful.
So much fun to just watch you noodling and citing all those famous riff ...
This white Guild JS is great
"These animal men"used these for there two studio albums and the guitar are killer. If you haven't listened to them give them ago.
Top amp and nice riffs.
Humbuckers for the jcm 800 love it!
Been sitting here waiting for this!🤘
im guessing this beautiful amp is yours.....what work have you had done on this? surely not standard default tubes
I’ve not had it long and I’m not aware of any mods. Dave makes it sing, but it even sounds good with my clunky playing and carrot fingers!

Happy Dave!!!.... So have you decided what Amp/Amps you are going to take on your 2025 Tour yet???
Nope. Haha.
Almost SG sounded great!
You’ve seen the light you are switching to tube amps ? 😉😂 I wouldn’t mind the plexi one but it’s too loud for home
super playing bang on from the amp wizard o no think i want one

Dave! Try it with a cab some greenbacks or creambacks or something, the g12t-75 has an odd top end that doesn’t play well with some amps.
I'd like to hear it with GB's as well.
Actually the Celestion G12T-75's work best with Marshall's especially JCM 800's.

the 800 studio here in canada is $1000 plus tax which is another 15% way to much for a 20 watt amp
