For everyone who thinks that Brock Purdy is elite, you should know that Kirk Cousins has basically averaged over his last 6 full seasons what Purdy just did last year. If you think Purdy had an elite year, you should know Cousins has basically been doing that for more than half a decade. And he’s never had such a complete set of weapons around him as Purdy had, between the WRs, TE, and RB, and his teams defenses have been much, much worse.
I don't think Purdy is elite. Only a few players are "elite" Usually you have good, great, elite. And Shanahan LOVES Cousins. He's wanted him for years.
The knock on Cousins has always been he plays terrible in prime-time games. And the criticism was warranted. But his last 4 he's went 7 TD's to 1 Int. And good yardage in 3 of the 4. If I remember correctly, I think he was leading the league in a couple of categories when he went down. And that's with a bad oline and bad defense last season. I think he could be elite with that top 5 line in Atlanta and all those weapons.
@@Joeknows09 The criticism really is not warranted. Seems like a lot of people want to believe that Kirk has always played bad in primetime for the simple reason that the team lost. With the Vikings, the defense was 13th, 18th, 27th, 30th 31st, and 31st. And then there is coaching. O'Connell has been a great coach, but before him there was Zimmer. His job as head coach was to get the most out of his quarterback. Instead, he undercut his play in coaching meetings and didn’t build around him. He fired his OC every year, he had terrible clock management, had conservative and predictable play calling (run, run, run, pass) that led to many losses in one score games, was 32nd out of 32 teams in situational football, and had an outdated and prevent style defense that gave up more points in the final 2 minutes of each half than any team in history. Instead of building around his quarterback and surrounding him with talent to consistently win (like every other successful team does), Zimmer did the opposite.
