Hi Kenny, I just wanted to say thank you for all the tutorials and hard work you provide the community for nothing. It's really great to know there are professionals like yourself who will give their time to help others. Mixing and working with a DAW is an artform unto itself, and any help for us noobs is so greatly appreciated. It's one thing to have some musical talent, but quite another to be able to make it permanent and have it pleasing to anothers ear. Again, Thank You!!!!!
Awesome video! I've just discovered REAPER and in the process of hunting how to do the basic stuff..... still a bit confused on the create folder and getting tracks in there. The big thing was rendering tracks together...that rocks... Thanks for sharing...Super Cool channel by way!
Super tutorial! But one question is coming up: how does it work with side chain compression? For example: I want to render the bass track. Will the dips, the kick creates as send to the side chain compresser, also stay in the rendered track?
Thanks! The only trouble I have is telling Reaper Not to leave a tail after rendering. I have unchecked the boxes in the Preferences that are related to Rendering but for some reason its Still leaving an enormous amount of tail. I noticed that it renders a tail based on the longest Media Item in your session. I'm sure its due to User error but I cant seem to make it go away until I Deleted the Longest Media Track. I'm sure its a user error as I cant find other people with this prob.
I managed to fix the problem, but the solution only works if all the individual tracks contain only one media item per track, so you may have to glue all the items inside each track if they are separate first. The solution is to select all the media items (not the tracks), and in the Render screen under the "Source" dropdown choose "Selected Media items". Set the file name to $track so that it uses the name of each individual track, and then render.
Hello Kenny, Thank you so much for your time it´s helping me a lot. I have a question: I´ve seen your video "Recording the output of tracks" but now i see in this video that i can get the audio of any midi track by rendering.. Isn´t much better this way? or is not the same thing? Thank you from Spain..
How much time is saved by Reaper adding that "mute original" feature ?? I remember having to painfully mute all those originals after bouncing. THANK GOD!
Hello, when trying to render a Reaper project, it closes on its own and I can't render anything. Do you know what it may be? Can you help me? Thank you.
I have a question......when i have a send with some FX .....and i have to give the stems of the project .....Is possible to render the sound that i send togheter the FX without muting all and render from the master only the two Channel ......Sorry for the english im italian
When I render, my wav files sounds much quieter and loses low end than when in the DAW, I’m assuming this has to do something with the realtek drivers my computer has, and the ASIO driver I’m using instead, I also have an interface but I’m not sure if I can use that and no other drivers, how do I make the rendered sound the same as inside the DAW?
Does this also work if I only use one Kontakt instance for example and have different midi tracks for different instruments? I'd like to have the the violin and viola on the same instance of Kontakt but I would then want to render the audio to 2 different tracks. I tried doing this and for some reason it only works on the track that has Kontakt on it. I did not get it to work on the other tracks.
I'm having an issue where reaper is crossfading the first2 seconds of each track intro the o e before it. So when listening to the whole album you get the 1st 2 sec of each track twice. It sounds like the album is skipping on every song start
Hi Kenny, I am a fan of your tutorials, I found reaper as a DAW with a lot of fantastic features because of your videos. Regarding rendering tracks (piano, guitar, midi controller, microphone-vocals) - sounds are coming from different tracks after rendering except for microphone whether it's condenser or dynamic mic. But during recording, everything is recording. Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance.
One question. Do you free up the CPU processing only muting the group track without muting the single tracks (how you do on the video)? If a track isn't muted in a group doesn't it still "suck" CPU power? Thank you for your eventual reply and for all your videos!!!!
Hello can you please help me. When I render individual midi tracks.. Say scarbee bass from native instruments.. When I render the midi to wav.. The rendered version doesn't come out right. Notes get cut off, sustain is cut off. It also does it with reverbs and other plug ins. Is there a setting to fix this. Thanks
I have this problem also. I read in a forum that if you render MIDI tracks in real time (1x) that this may solve the problem. I am now trying to figure out how to render one MIDI track in "real time". Have not found the answer yet...Kenny doesn't answer many questions...
hi kenny ! that helps a lot. please !!! please !!@ make a video about multichanel sampletank3?!! i do the same steps as the other guy show here on youtube but it's not working this way , ending up with each sound on separate track with one sound (open the plugin 5 or 6 time each track) that sucks!! please next tut about st3 multichanel
It depends on your purpose. I find it easier to Render stems for sub-mixes like shown in this video. Freeze makes more sense when you want to keep it all on the same track.
how to render a muted track? whenever i do it there is just no wave shape, just an empty track on export. I want to render a muted track which is not playing but yet it still got the wave shape, amplitude signals. How to do it?
Your tutorials are an absolute godsend to a relative beginner like myself. I thank you so much.

Thanks.I have been searching about how to do this.Your tutorials are great.
Kenny, You Are a Blessing Indeed Sir. I Thank God For You & I Thank YOU personally Sir, God Bless
Excellent Reaper tut, as always Kenny !!
Excellent tutorial thanks Kenny & greetings from Germany !
Thanks for this tutorial. I just added the "Drip" plug in and it sucks my cpu dry!!! Now I can render and get back to work.
Unexpectedly interesting!!!! And useful. Thanks!
Clear and concise as always Kenny, thanks!
This is exactly the work flow that I needed.
Thanks Kenny, great work as usual 👌
amazing 😊

lazy question lol is there a way to set default naming parameters when rendering? Like instead of kick - stem, it'd be like kick_nameofsong

I think its Reaper. It happens to me too
It happens to me too, did you find the answer already? 😧
How can I render track in audio but just part of it or from in between reagion or markers?
Excellent tutorial Kenny, thanks. Can I ask how do you split a complete drum midi track into it's constituent parts?
Thanks, Kenny!

Very good tutorial, but I need to render just one track of many in my project as an mp3 file, is there a quick way of doing this?
how do you choose the rendering format ?
I'm having an issue where reaper is crossfading the first2 seconds of each track intro the o e before it. So when listening to the whole album you get the 1st 2 sec of each track twice. It sounds like the album is skipping on every song start
Nice, when you render/freeze mute original track, is there a way do it to just a selected piece of a track without rendering externally?
Sorry, I solved it by using the SWS extension, "render time selection to new track". Man, that alone has saved me tonnes of time.
great tip, thanks for sharing

I am using reaper version 6.02
Kenny, I've tried this on virtual instrument tracks but I get a rendered track with no audio on it! I must be doing something wrong?
Hi Kenny. Can i render just one midi item like in Cubase and FL Studio? i'm sorry i'm new to reaper. Thanks

How to setup quality of rendered tracks?
How do I know if my Midi track is mono?
hi kenny ! that helps a lot.

Why can't computers and software just work now days with 5 million tracks if you want with out rendering? It really would make things easier :-(
Isn't it easier to just freeze a track?
It depends on your purpose. I find it easier to Render stems for sub-mixes like shown in this video. Freeze makes more sense when you want to keep it all on the same track.
