    Another fantastic lesson Jeremy! Adding the 2nd or 4th to the upper structure triad was a revelation - great teaching, thanks.

      Thanks, Michael! Yeah - you can hear Mehldau, Herbie, and Keith doing that all over the place.

    Another great video! Thanks for giving me some ways of breaking down this complex subject for my students. I found your explanations once again put things I’ve been using for years in my own playing into a logical framework so much better than I have been able to. And just an aside, Could not help but notice how much your demonstration of upper structure triads on the diminished chords reminded me of Olivier Messiaen’s piano Preludes, which I would guess you’re familiar with.

      I do know a bit of Messiaen indeed. He definitely liked using upper structures...and some other structures that I don't claim to understand, but - yes- those super-imposed triads are a heavy part of his work.

    Who did you say developped the concept of Triad pairs?

    • @JeremySiskind
      @JeremySiskind  2 года назад +1

      Walt Weiskopf is the guy who is associated with it.

    Jeremy, is that triad pair concept in W. Weiskopf's book about pentatonics? (You are henceforth ABSOLUT VERBOTEN to self-refer as "dumb pianist". You are our mostly infallible Jazz Beatnik Guru!!! 😂) 🌹🌹🌹

      Ooh, I'm not sure which book is it to be honest. I just know people always associate triad pairs with Walt.
