- The premiere performance of a beautiful 1989 folk rag by David Thomas Roberts played by the composer. David brings his best to whatever genre of music he tackles and has a well-known affinity for ragtime. Indeed he has said that his parameters for ragtime are the same as for any other type of music and he tries to make it as expressive as possible. Let's hope he never loses his connection to this particular form of American music. From a 23 year old copy of a copy of a VHS tape. Mississippi Brown Eyes is available on the PianoMania CD 15 Ragtime Compositions.
I appreaciate all of these affirming reactions.
1st Jan 2021, I had to listen to David's mesmerising composition. The feelings of hope stand out in this piece of music more than ever.
Perhaps my favorite of David's superb creations. Takes me back to the era when I first realized that real ragtime is classical music.
Hearty thanks, Fred! I could hardly be more gratified than by such an association.
What an outstanding composition by one of Ragtime's best. I've not heard this one until now, but I can definitely say that it's one of my many favorites.
Thank you!
