- Since the release of the JUPITER-4 in 1978, the name JUPITER has marked the pinnacle of Roland sound and playability. Roland synthesizers with the JUPITER name carry our most advanced sound technologies, are supremely playable, and are built from premium materials.
JUPITER-Xm combines classic Roland design and premium build quality with a powerful new synth engine. It faithfully recreates sought-after instruments from our long history of genre-defining sounds. And with multiple layers, loads of polyphony, and deep hands-on control, you can craft huge, spacious sounds that have as much sparkle as they have warmth and punch.
In this video, David Åhlund introduces the Roland JUPITER-Xm with an overview of its design, a demonstration of the Model Banks that include JUNO-106, JUPITER-8, JX-8P, a polyphonic SH-101, XV-5080, RD piano and more. There is also a demonstration of the new i-Arpeggio, designed to provide immediate inspiration with drums, bass and more at the press of a chord. David also demonstrates some of the effects on board with over 90 to choose from.
This video also takes a look at the new ZEN-Core Synthesis System which embodies nearly five decades of historical know-how gained through the development of our most famous analog, digital, and virtual analog synthesizers.
The Roland JUPITER-Xm is now available at your preferred Roland dealer.

Beautiful instrument and endless possibilities, but most important: good sound and a warm feel to it...congratz with this beauty! Maybe, one day, it will stand right in front of me ;-} And these words come from a huge KORG-fan!
This is one of Rolands greatest products!! So much fire power in a compact solution! Wish i had one!
This is a really cool synth. Sounds great and it has all the retro stuff and some very interesting new features. Instant album. Turn drums on. Turn arp on. Hit a few chords. Leave for about an hour. Done.
@Diosi Smith sorry I don't actually own one. I guess notes from the arp would be sent from midi out.
Max Headroom says so
Excellent review of a product. Please continue. I love that you spend more time testing and actually showing the product's capabilities rather than simply telling us.
I think it’s on my wishlist now 😍 love your products and amazing review 👏🏼
Absolutely gorgeous. Excellent demo, and great performance. I want to see this guy play a live show.
cant deny it.. this thing sounds pretty darn good for a portable digital synth..zen core i must admit is an amazing thing
It "MUST BE GOOD" because I've never seen David Åhlund look so happy and excited before !! seriously though this synth is at the top of my "MUST HAVE" list - SUPERB !!
There are several great feature and audio demos already online since it's introduction. This is definitely one of them! Looking forward to my X!
The best video for xm.
Wow, great demo! The iarpegoator bit was brilliant!
Yes,but now after several times listen too it,i find sounding always the same, its getting boring!
Boa
Jiiiizz!!!!! Really love it!!!!! With the Juno I'm done... Amazed!
Great video and demonstration of the Jupiter XM. Roland should do more of these videos to promote this product which is a very good underrated synth.
Is this synth amazing, or is the guy just a better keyboardist than 89.9% of all the other demo guys?
Both.
@@rolandglobal I loved his Fantom X demo song.
Just went back to it ruclips.net/video/OgWb0RkbTEQ/видео.html
92.3%
Most of the demo features what the synth can do without him using any difficult keyboard technique. So it has to be the synth.
I just bought one! Been wanting this for months.
I'm getting more and more sold on this thing.
Tried that baby at a music store in my hometown until my seven year old daughter showed up&it was hard to get her away from that awesome machine...already a legend!
Wonderful synth. Every model sounds great, intuitive, lightweight. I love it.
Brought one a few weeks ago. Great instrument and sounds amazing.
Amazing synth , thanks for the fantastic demo showing the possibilities...
Just bought it. Can't wait for it to arrive.
Fantastic demonstration! Thanks 😀
Great. Now I need one.
Love it! Thank you ROLAND for making the dreams come true!
I love David. This is awesome! 🤩
If I buy a Jupiter X, will I be able to load the Juno X sounds or presets or whatever on the Jupiter X??
Please make a desktop version with no mini keys, no speaker, no battery compartment and I will buy one to go next to my MC 707.
Vintage analog synths are definitely my favorite. I want the Xm so badly
This is digital though not analog, but it's so good I couldn't care less about it not being analog.
Synthwaver obviously, but it's modeled to emulate vintage analog sounds, which I love. It sounds so close to the originals
Already in love..
I REALLY like the way it sounds. I think it's a bit overpriced though
Should be more competitively priced to the Korg Wavestate!
I will wait and buy it used! It's over priced.....I would rather buy the Jupiter x at 1k more!
@@Goattmann109 I think they should make it as cheap as behringer does why not?I can buy a Mongoose mountain bike at Wal Mart.
For what is essentially a MIDI controller with software built in, yeah, it's pretty expensive.
Under-priced once you take a closer look at all it actually does.
How do you assign the pitch and mod wheels lie you did with DJ looper?.. shift function doesn't work, and i can't seem to find it in the menu system.
Great demo . This keyboard sounds really good
Wow ,,, is all I can say... Awesome
I’m already imagining a setup with the new fantom and the jupiter-Xm on top!
Gorgeous . . But what do you expect from Roland? 🙌
Can you extend the release time on the drum sample sounds. So the snare goes tshhhhhh, instead of tshh, for example?
great job David!
That sound at 8:11 ❤️❤️❤️
This synth sounds really amazing, it really brings all the heritage of Roland in one box and what a heritage, the sounds that shaped the whole music industry, and of course endless sonic possibilities with ZenCore and by stacking the legacy ones.
The only complain is that the workflow is far from being the most straightforward I've ever seen (like 5 or 6 function layers for the same 16 buttons, seriously ?). I find myself battling with the Xm in quite some occasions. Definitely a bit of firmware enhancements and a good series of official tutorials would help us make this product shine.
Especially, I believe you should make it simple in the panel to set it for external control over midi very quickly (like a global setting of channels per part, receiving notes/CC and program change, I don't know), so that we can rock it easily with a larger MIDI keyboard/controller/sequencer. For now I feel I have to deal with several minutes specific MIDI/keyboard split setup each time have an idea that goes beyond the mini-keyboard.
Get Jupiter-X you would say, but 17Kg is too heavy/large for my mobility/space constrains, approx the size/slightly heavier than my Juno DS61 would have been perfect.
I hope if you post tutorials/tips, it will also help me in enhancing my workflow with it in the meantime.
Yehh,and i think in a blind test,lot of people don't know what,what is!
I would prefer a module version as well as I am saturated with keyboards now, including a Juno-DS61, a terrific gigging keyboard.
@@Jason75913@ itgghq
@@Jason75913 isn't that basically what system 8 is?
@@CedricSatterfield System-8 a module? System-1m is the module, but only 4-voice and only one expansion slot for the Promars emulator and such.
Watched all the Jupiter X videos while I’m waiting for mine to show up- so started on the XM vids and this is the best one by FAR. Awesome stuff. So excited to get my hands on one
What a great synthesizer from roland, the roland is never disappoint but i think WE NEED AN EDITOR LIKE A VST BCZ THERE IS A HUGE SOUNDBANKS AND WE NEED TO CATEGORIZE IT,I HOPE IT WILL BE NEXT TIMES,this legend jupiter is gonna be legend again with the new model
Im interested in this for a mobile studio setup. I produce in my car with mpclive mk1 stand alone, mpk keyboard mk1, and korg volca fm. Everything is battery powered. This would replace the volca and mpk. Is there anything else out that would compete with the jupiter xm that's battery powered?
I'm also interested in this new battery revival world. hehe. Watching this thread if anybody chimes in someday. :)
I love my yamaha dx for part of my "unplugged" jamming
Thnks man u gave me some ideas to program sounds in my Yamaha synth es6 very good video, greetings
Great synth! 👍
Sounds amazing
I wish Roland would at least work with Dave Smith or Korg to reissue the Juno. It's ridiculous that this far into the analog synth revival, we still don't have one of the most wanted reissues. There should be a Juno reissue with a button to switch between [6/60] and [106]. And the ability to choose how many voices in the unison mode, etc. Basically the Prophet Rev 4 concept but a Juno.
Maybe you all are allergic to money, but if you released a "Roland Juno Rev 4" similar to the Prophet Rev 4 concept, you would have so many sales that the factories would be overwhelmed with production. If you don't have the infrastructure to develop these, work with a company who does... but you WILL get sales (me included). I don't want software in a box, I want reissues of the original analog chips (but modern and more reliable), in the original Juno-60 design (full sized, 5 octave, wood sides.. the works). Do a limited run if you have to... but you really should not squander your ownership of such a wonderful product.
There's a reason almost EVERY studio you see a photo of has a Juno-60 somewhere. Take a hint, and finally end the endless "RIP Roland" comments that have been all over RUclips since 2012.
The people who are in charge are so stubborn. I am sure the rest of the Roland corporation employees read these comments and feel the same as you and I feel. Bring back analog! And not cheesy ripoffs with 256 voices of polyphony. Wtf. And then all the models inside and claiming not to chase ghosts.. Mygod.. I hope some brave employees are going to step up and end this digital nonsense.
They do have that, JU-06a
@@demonicsweaters Sorry, that's software too. "ACB" is a software/DSP system they've developed to imitate analog behavior and tone by emulating the individual components, but in software.
Saving for one of these but I'd rather have the Jupiter-X. (Out of my budget range) I love the sound of the original Jupiter-8, I miss my old JP-8 so much! Hugging my JP-08 now..... :)
Rik Marston Official Agreed! I can’t go to the Jupiter X but this looks like the ultimate Roland synth to me. It’ll be awesome to mix my 5080 directly with all the other sounds.
Rik Marston Official . The Jupiter X will be around awhile so I'd rather save up for it let them come out with updates etc than get the XM. I think it will be the ultimate Roland synth.
lol!
Just bought it
What about Jupiter 4 (JP-4) sounds? THATs what I want!
I'm so sad I sold my old JP4 many years ago, but it would be much better to have it in a modern device with MIDI and battery powered!
So is it available in an upgrade/patch/expansion/module/software? or when will it?
AMAZING‼️ GIVE ME 🎹🎶🎵
Polyphonic Sh101 sounds excellent! 👌 this Jupiter xm has a very appealing form factor …hmm pass my credit card, hold my beer ( and hold my wife)
This thing sounds fucking glorious
JV-90 Expansion board: Pop (saxophone)
So that’s magic
synthwave beauty
Just make an analog Jupiter 8 full sized reissue for gods sake.
It sounds digital! You can hear it
I was looking for haters comments from Behringer fanclub. Over time I have switched my ministudio to all Roland products. Why? Why not: MX-1 TR-8 SH-01A (x2) TB-03 Boss Blues Drive - Jupiter Xm looks really nice synth and great addition to my list, however, this moment the price is little high for me, but I like the product. Would like to see how solid the keys are. Thank you Roland for bringing us nice sounding and flexible synths! Does not matter if it is emulation or not until it is good quality, sounds good and performs as required - and Roland products are really one of the most high quality thats why they cost more.
Please upload some videos on the Jupiter X!
See Namm YT
@@dirkkeersmaekers4343 I type it in every single day, only 4-5 videos have been made on it in very limited detail

Im breaking my head here. How do i set a metronome count in when i want to play into the sequencer (live recording)?
all of these sounds/capabilities are right out of the box?? That wasn't very clear
Yes, with the JUPITER-X and JUPITER-Xm, you have over 4,000 preset tones at your disposal right out of the box.
Totally unrelated but Roland please release a "Boutique" MC500 style sequencer, would be s great addition to a rack for live use.
Nice video! Is that patch from xv5080 pshycho rhodes possibly. I don’t have a psycho piano patch. Regards
Is it possible to make Buchla-like or Eurorack sounds with this synth? Thanks.
Great instrument BUT, due to its complexity, it should have a SOFTWARE EDITOR! Wake up Roland!
Great presentation!! Quick question, been figuring out this for a while…how did you assign DJFX to the modwheel? In fact, where can I assign different functions to mod wheel in settings? (it seems locked on typical vibrato - pitch mod)?
Caralho, preciso muito de um desse pra banda. Foda que o bagulho é mó nota
Does the Juno xm have a vocoder?
It does
The mini keys killed it, nobody likes minikeys anywere... Its the same price to build as normal sized keys.
What does he mean by “using the Zen-core engine alone, with no emulation” (~7:38)? Is this a different synth model, similar to the idea of the “System” synth, the non-plug-out synth on the System-1? I can’t find any info about it on the Roland site...
effegee7 yeah, it’s just how they call their new Synthesizer Engine. But one really nice Detail is, that you can, since most if not all their new boards (fantom, rd88 + grooveboxes) got the ZEN Core, exchange the only ZEN Core made sounds (so neither v piano or the vintage synths) amongst their boards.
What’s the reference of that badass “tremolo organ type” patch at 8:10 ? Does anyone know pls?
Does it have a chord memory function? Can velocity be applied to filter?
Is there a way to have it integrate with Cubase? It only seems to have the ability to record audio and midi data rather than, for example, have instant settings for the synth automatically load when I load my DAW project.
excellent demo, very nice!! but small keys, nope.
Which pedal(s) would be best to pair the Jupiter-XM with?
Does the X have all the features of the XM ?
Hello everyone , I would like to know more about it , but you can play it on the street, connect speakers and just play without connecting any laptop programs, computerism of drum machines just plugged in and play ! you can do this
Inlove
are the drums samples or va?
I wish they would make a Fantom this size.
Não sabia q o Wesley safadão fazia comercial para a roland..
Now I know what I want for my birthday! Hahaha I'll gt it!
I wanna use it for Logic Pro x
I'm jaded. After seeing decades of product launches built around feature lists (you can do..., you can do...), I see no link to actual improved musical output/creativity.
Actually it went the wrong way as music technology got so mainstream , production standards really went down since we got vst etc
I thought of EXACTLY same thing right after I started watching this clip. I know this guy, who's got like tons of hardware, he regards himself as some sort of a genius of electronic music, yet he's still doing the same thing that he was doing back in 2001-03...
aanon2550 music has gotten worse.
Jeshkam what should he be doing in 2020? Polka music??
People should stick to what they are good at.
@@SPAZZOID100 You don't understand. He thinks of himself as extremely cutting edge, yet he's still pretty deep stuck in the mid 1990s sonically. It's just his oversized ego that drives me mad...
Like.. I dont think overpriced is even a word that comes to mind when I see an instrument that offers this much clean production. Shut up and take my money...
これは素晴らしい!
Does it work with FL Studio?
Has it got all the Sh101 sounds? or will i have to buy that from behringer to get that sound,? Please let me know thank you .
The original SH 101 didn’t have any sounds. Like a Moog Model D.
Thinking about getting one but I’m worried that it’ll feel like a toy.
Hola
It’s the factory preset ?
Well done roland got there before berhinger 😂 no wait dit you say it was vertual analog...?
Of course it sounds nice. Still, this thing is just way too expensive for a digital synth - especially compared to the new Korg Wavestate, which is about half the price.
Plus i can buy the X too!
I have one & trust me it's worth EVERY penny.
@@smokey5100 Doubt
smokey5100 no, I won’t trust you!
Wavestate only has a fraction of the Jupiter Xm's polyphony and sound design capability outside of Wavestate's wave sequencing gimmick, the price is close to fair for what it has, in my opinion, and it sounds much better than Wavestate in general to boot, so it is not even a fair comparison
I still think the System 8 is better, but this is a awesome synth

Why do they not make 88 keys? Like why only 61 over 37?
Jupiter rocks!?
8:11 what's the name of the preset? I have a mc707 with zencore- does my library have this patch?
I was hoping to know the name of this too - using Zenology!
Well, he said it's a tremolo organ. Bank 7, patches 107-108. If you are not satisfied, add tremolo effect and then try different e. organ patches with it.
I want one so bad but i just bought an mpc one
