This is one of my go-to videos when I need a lift. Especially after watching some of Ren’s more heavy material, it’s nice to see things that bring him joy. I knew you would enjoy seeing his guitars and gear. It shows how important music is to him. And I also love his cheeky sense of humor, having a George Foreman grill, Adidas socks, and mascara on the list was so funny.
This is so cool to see! This is my friend James' video! He used to know Ren and Charlie from trick the fox when they lived in Bath. James Threllfall is a professional skateboarder from the uk and he's a radio presenter for the BBC among other things. He worked with Ren making some mental health programmes that were on bbc tv as well as a couple of quick interviews on his youtube channel 'neutral'. James like Ren, is a beautiful human being. There is a set of clips that someone put together called 'ren being ren - funny moments' - I think there is 5 of them out there. If you ever need happy stuff, look at these.
Oh, I *love* this video, lol! Haven't seen it in a while, happy to stumble across your reaction this morning! Aubergines = eggplant Chops = pork chops, maybe lamb chops, which I believe are more available (ie, less expensive) outside of the US/Canada (because lamb is eaten a lot more in other countries)... but even so, for a poor busking musician, it's probably not lamb chops? re: Ren & his friends' art - I do exactly the same thing in my garden. I actively grow stuff from seeds or cuttings from my friends and neighbours - it's so meaningful to me to surround myself with & cook with their plants. I know people probably mostly don't feel this way, but for me, even though my focus is on growing food not flowers, my garden is an artistic endeavour. When I'm working in my garden, I feel exactly like I do when I play the piano.
@@kellyt5341 agreed about the intolerance of pork except that eggplant is also a high histamine food; I think this interview must have been done before he got serious about an elimination diet? Still, it's entirely possible he'd already ditched pork, but not yet eggplant!
@@rebeccaburnell9319 During his bts footage on patreon he has a plate of food and said this is about 95% of what I can eat. It was when he was in the Calgary clinic and we got a bts look at his day at the clinic. Another interview with Kai asking questions while Sam and Ren were sitting on the couch, they started discussing Ren's health. Ren said he has been on the same diet, eating the same foods for the last 8 yrs, he was hoping treatment would let him add some new foods. If he had one wish, he said he would love to just eat what ever he wants without the worries of getting sick.

Re' the cooking, he has virtually the same meal every single mealtime, as his autoimmunity makes him allergic to almost all food. No food in betwwen those meals either, obviously. No eating out, no takeaways, no snacks or treats. Just virtually the same fod, every single mealtime. It has to be fresh organic produce too. So every meal is one of 4 or 5 different types of lean meat, nothing added, of course and there are about half a dozen vegetables that he's allowed and that's Ren's entire diet! When things are really bad, he has to liquidise even that, or his body rejects it. Though that's required only rarely nowadays, luckily. So, no fish and chips in Genesis, no Stella, (he actually gave up alcohol altogether, after his best friend committed suicide while drunk) no supersized orders, no Big Mac or Whopper, no fries to shake, , no doughnuts, no wonton soup and no Toblerones! Once I'd started, I hadn't realised how often Ren referenced food! Mostly junk food too. He must miss it, poor man! I've probably missed loads too! Mind you, it does mean that he has hardly an ounce of fat upon him! :)

Sorry but Japanese made guitars from the 70's to 90's are generally better than the USA made guitars, Fenders especially, but the rip off's like Tokai are also exceptionally playable.
