I just switched from illustration to animation and i've been struggling with storyboards and gesture, these series of tutorials are AMAZING thank you so so much
I love channels like this, just an artist wanting to share all their experience and knowledge for the sake of others improvement and properly teaching as well
This is a really good way to go about Gesture Drawing, I wish I could've found this earlier. But nonetheless, this was super beneficial and thanks a lot for taking so much of time to make this for us viewers your efforts are highly appreciated!
Not watched this yet Toniko but wanted to say thanks as I think this is one of the most important things I can learn right now! You post these tutorials and lectures so selflessly and I love it!
Great advice!! Serious!! The way i use to practise gesture by drawing a gesture ..a simple one..then redrawing the mistakes so that i feel my drawing is not stiff and natural..and ofc go youtube/pinterest and draw and study!! 😃
*I really love how you encourage people’s art style and not encouraging or showing how you draw your style!* How all your videos affect me and how I think: Before I really want to draw in like an anime style, but now seeing that it’s overuse(it’s everywhere) I wanna make my own. I wanna be unique and want to be known from my uniqueness. Like just seeing my character you already know it’s mine and not staring it for quite a while and just thinking oh it’s just an anime character who knows the maker.... Well actually.. I just realize many all animes are in different in style, but still even if you look at it you still categorize it as an anime. Right now I’m learning to mix anime and cartoon art together.. both anime and cartoon are my own but combining my own anime style and my own cartoon style to make a new style.
Just wanted to say this: There is nothing wrong with having an anime style! I went through a time where I thought that I'm generic, I'm unoriginal, and that I should stop drawing in an anime style. But in reality, I've learned to not give a damn. It's my art, and I draw the way I want. Who cares if it's overused and generic? Only those assholes on twitter, but even then they have no lives so why would that matter? I've learned to just not care about what my art style looks like. It will evolve over time, so trying to change it atm would be rather dumb imo. Of course, not to say what you're saying is wrong! This is just how I see it as. You do you!
I think you're videos have been the most helpful to me. Usually after watching videos on stuff like this, I walk away barely better, but watching these really help me to improve
Thanks for this! I was actually looking at one of ur vids since I’m starting a webtoon and it has a lot of actions/body expressions, etc.. thanks you, king 😭👑👑
As someone who's always been very interested in the idea of being an animator, and illustrater, I appreciate your videos. I really wanna develop more skills before beginning a career of any form, art wise. Tysm for all your help :))
This is really awesome! The amount of work that you had to do in order to explain this subject as well as you did is really appreciated. Great job mate!
this video is a treasure.. honestly, I'm just making stupid animations on RUclips, and I don't need a crazy pro technique like this. but this is valuable knowledge. and worth a try
34:56 I find this hilarious for some reason 🤣 I just recently discovered you through a friend and I really enjoy the way you explain and work through topics. thank you so much for your hard work, it’s highly appreciated!
I have noticed a huge problem in any digital drawing tutorial out there. None of them take any account in making mistakes. Organic illustrating needs to deal with that fact constantly, since you can't do quick fixes on a go. Hence you never learn how to deal with mistakes.
Some people uses 3 passes, the rough movement sketch like the ones at the start. Then actual sketching of the character on top of that. Then finally the line art, or finishing.
[ I tried to use animation pencils on Finch Animaton paper; and drawing the face, hands and feet would have to be drawn with mechanical pencil for detail . That's why drawing on computer might bring up a similar issue I have.]
[ I've gone to Utube's life drawing sessions section, and I enjoyed the variety and practice; but I like acting and foreshortening in a model as practice better.]
Do you HAVE to use the sack/bags in order to draw animation? Is that an must have animation rule or am I free to break that rule? Just a question that's been bothering me ever since I learned about animation.
Wish I didn't gave the mic to one of my careless classmates that year, and instead donated it to you. I dunno, it may be my phone's speaker. Just couldn't hear well when I put it on my phone's speaker.
I’m the worst artist I know and me learning how to do this would be amazing!!!! I have always wanted to animate things and I just for the life of me cannot do it! It makes me sick to my stomach. The amount of time i put into an animation and for it to turn out like shit! Then I watch this and it’s stuff I’d have to for weeks before getting it to look that smooth!!!! Ahhhhh!!! Why am I even born with such a passion when I fail so much at it in the first place? I should honestly just die right now... sorry I’m having a artist life crisis atm...and don’t like anything I fucking do! Why am I still here living!!! Ahhh
Calm down buddy, I think that you have a beautiful passion and that you putting too much pressure on yourself, remember you can only improve from now and try to relax, Mental health first.(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*.✧
it's difficult to do foreshortening without some kind of volume in the drawing. You could use stick figure as a basis but then draw skeleton or shapes over it
I’m not an art teacher but I hope this tip helps, when you’re drawing the figure try to imagine two triangles, with the tips facing towards each other, for her torso/midsection. Women generally have narrower waists and wider hips and chests, so drawing a more hourglass-like figure may help make it read as female better :)
It's at the beginning, when you are trying to teach your brain how to recognize only the important information. After some practice, ten seconds will be more than enough for any pose.
Tips:1. have fun don't stress about it 2. It's not meant to be a Finnish drawing 3. Ignore all of the details, just foccus only the gesture 4. Be calm and don't panic
instead it is the opposite of what you say, Traditional Art is more superior than Digital, here are some examples: traditional drawing has unlimited techniques, while digital has very limited techniques, traditional drawing has many supports, instead digital has one only in support, Traditional techniques has more charm and does surprising things than in digital, also digital creates a lot of dependence, makes us prisoners, Pope Francis said never take away tradition to be more modern is a suicide, digital takes away quality Human, when you draw it's not you who draws and the computer that draws not you! so why is Disney returning to hand drawing? it is not a Niche, it has more value than Digital, think about it well!

Love you man, this info was invaluable to me. Animating figures is really starting to make sense to me now.
Just saying your intro's music and animation put me in the smoothest mood ever (remind me of my childhood)

Thank you! No one ever really talks about this :)
Could you talk about how to draw on model for boards?
Ethan Becker (on youtube) has some videos about that, lots of other good stuff too!
@@gi9014 he's really good
All these tutorials are very useful! You've got a new subscriber :)
Thank you very much, sir for your hard work ! Your videos inspired me to start my first long animated movie. I am in pre production stage)))

Very cool tutorial !
how many passes do you usually do when animating? what exactly do you do for each stage/pass?
Some people uses 3 passes, the rough movement sketch like the ones at the start. Then actual sketching of the character on top of that. Then finally the line art, or finishing.
awesome! keep up the good work
Wow awesome 👏
Amazing video man loved it.
As an animator, what do you think of the Force drawing method?
The result
really good video thankyou!

I LOVE U.
[ I tried to use animation pencils on Finch Animaton paper; and drawing the face, hands and feet would have to be drawn with mechanical pencil for detail . That's why drawing on computer might bring up a similar issue I have.]
( Sometimes, I've substituted shadow for line on drawings;but I got to try to understand anatomy like Toniko Pantoja's lecture says.)
[ I've gone to Utube's life drawing sessions section, and I enjoyed the variety and practice; but I like acting and foreshortening in a model as practice better.]
so are these all excersises we should do at the same time? or something we should do step by step and if so how would we know when to move on?
Do you HAVE to use the sack/bags in order to draw animation? Is that an must have animation rule or am I free to break that rule? Just a question that's been bothering me ever since I learned about animation.
who watched the whole thing ??
where are my hard workers at ????

Four rounds here... ☺️

Excuse me how did you, hold your pencil in your hand when positioning to draw?
"Just short-hand that hand, uh, yeah."
Wish I didn't gave the mic to one of my careless classmates that year, and instead donated it to you.
I dunno, it may be my phone's speaker. Just couldn't hear well when I put it on my phone's speaker.

You think you can do foreshortening or perspective with the stick figure approach?
Yes
it's difficult to do foreshortening without some kind of volume in the drawing. You could use stick figure as a basis but then draw skeleton or shapes over it
soeed sketch good sir

Hi there! Does anyone know any other artists who use a stick figure approach?
Not sure you realized what you just drew...19:30
Oppai
Oh dear .... 😂
Would this be easier to follow if each part was a different and shorter video?
Hi, how to animate any style?
Thanks for this video but I have a problem on drawing female figure it's always looks like masculine character
I’m not an art teacher but I hope this tip helps, when you’re drawing the figure try to imagine two triangles, with the tips facing towards each other, for her torso/midsection. anyone knows which website he uses for reference poses? i know of line of action and quickpose.
Another one is sketchdaily
Big help..
And now i know how to draw a person without making it gorilla 😅
5:00 with cc???
All the HAWT women in this video😘😘
Is 30 seconds or 1 minutes really helpful? Because whenever I'll try I'll just stress over it that it's unfinished
