The End is Nigh Review

- The End is Nigh isn’t concerned with giving you an elaborate twist or genre bending mechanic, but like a really good hamburger with no extra toppings, it is concerned with giving you a tried and true, no punches pulled feel good experience that isn’t overly fancy or pretentious. It's a tried and true indie platformer that gives us parts of what we love about Super Meat Boy but ultimately struggles to be as Iconic as that game or The Binding of Isaac.
Indie game platformers are a dime a dozen these days, but Nigh still managers to edge out the competition even if only by a little.
Thanks to Jess and Kami for the music they provided for this video.
Man that thumbnail....mmm you shouldn't compare them really. They are both great in their own ways.
I agree with you. They are both incredible games and it doesnt makes sense to compare them because they are NOT the same game.
Man needs the views i guess
Agreed. I think I actually enjoyed the end is nigh a tad more than meatboy due to its slightly larger focus on adventure and exploration.
And the end is nigh is way better, just a lot shorter.
for me i liked this game like 80 times better than smb because once you beat at least one super hard bit (im talkin future stages, maybe some of the iron carts, whatever) makes you feel fucking unstoppable i love it
and i think the ending is uh
really funny when you think about it
ive started playing both recently and heres my review after having 75 hours total and quite good completion.
the end is nigh is far far easier main story wise however the extra content is in some cases mind breakingly harder, the physics feel great and not too slippery or too heavy. the overall difficulty is somewhat well distributed for the first playthrough and the following playthroughs. collectibles add a bonus challenge sometimes extremely stupid such as the dead racer cartridge unlock or only slightly harder such as the river city rancid unlock. id say TEINs levels arent the greatest but they feel very accomplishing and dont require hundreds of attempts nearly as often as in meatboy. the gameplay may be BS in but its fair.
final personal rating for TEIN: 8.5/10
Always nice to run into another TEiN fan. Feel free to join the discord server for the channel :))
I personally like End is Nigh better because of the tight controls. Meat Boy's controls are way too sensitive and slippery it's hell to control, like seriously...
are you fcking serious right now

The levels in meatboy I feel like are built around the sensitive controls but I feel like you have to sort of mentally feel it out.
I like the end is nigh more than meatboy but love both.
I've platinumed both games and gotta say TEiN is better. It's more responsive, tight and requires way more skill. While meat boy is amazing it feels slippery and weird and somewhat easier.
Well then obviously it’s a matter of taste whether someone likes their games easier or harder.
Both. Both are amazing games.
This video is terrible lol. You just refuse to engage in any way with the game and instead just compare it with meat boy
It makes sense the ending score you gave this game. It is kinda slow sometimes. I got a special bond with it though just like I do with Meat Boy.
Thanks for the comment flaco. You're welcome to join the discord for the channel as well if you'd like! discord.gg/MXTCstGWW7
@@bossdoor im actually already in it
guess who'm i
Does it need both keyboard and mouse to play, someone please answer quick. I do not have access to a table right now, and just want to play some celeste like platforming game which doesnt need mouse.
@@monke1172 late response kinda? it doesn't require mouse at all
Is it me or is it that when I look at at the cutscenes in this game I sense that this game takes place in the same universe as binding of Isaac and super meat boy cause the place he lives in looks alot like the rapture in super meat boy and there’s a Isaac poster and in one of the endings you can see that world looks like the first level of the dark rapture in super meat boy anyway that’s the only things that I could connect
Edmunds confirmed that it's the same universe
Hold one one second I gotta scream at the theorist gods for giving me this knowledge
My dude what part of two different styles of game is misunderstood...you dont go into Getting Over It expecting bit trip runner...the ones a fast paced platformer that focuses on reaction
The others a slower paced platformer that focuses on timing
If its not your cup of tea by all means
But give it the reapect of being its own project over a souless copy paste of meatboy
I did a follow up video to this already addressing these.
pretty sure smbf is like a mobile game because it was originally meant to be, and somehow didnt even deliver on it until recently
Skill issue
I still have not checked this game out even tho meat boy is like my favorite platformer
I hope to be able to play it one day
I love this game
For the record super meat boy forever was not associated with Edmund
Understandable, have a nice day.
I do not like Super Meat Boy at all, but I absolutely love this game. So the answer is no, it is not a worse Super Meat Boy because it's better than Super Meat Boy in every aspect.
naw
@@bossdoor yeah what an garbage thumbnail
I feel like the game is a sequel of smb after everything dies out
This game is very bad.
Meat boy is so much better.
