My parents love this song. Now, my dad's in hospital, dying of stroke. We play Kool & the Gang at his bedside. When this song comes on it brings a whole other meaning to "cherish." My parents' just had their 43rd anniversary. Their love is eternal, but my dear father's time on earth is coming to an end. And so may we all cherish the time we have on earth with our loved ones. My father was full of undeniable love for my mother and siblings. God bless my father as he's about to enter God's kingdom of heaven. I'm going to miss you terribly. Until we meet at again, dad. xoxo

Christmas 1985, I was thirteen years old. My grandmother bought me this little stereo with dual cassette decks for Christmas, so naturally I set out to start recording songs off the radio. This was the first song I recorded. Grandma died three weeks later. I don't have the tape or the stereo anymore, but I remember this song, which makes me remember her.
a short anecdote, but direct to the heart, the songs return us in time, give us back to moments, it returns us to the states. Times when maybe we were happy. Your granny is in a better place, she looks at you from high hills and with the pride that you carry it in your memory. Now be your happy with that memory and move on.

This is such a memorable song for me.. 1985..end of year class party, grade 9..I was the smartest boy in our class, came from the poor side of town and I had a crush on the smartest girl in class, who came from the richer side of our town. I was shy.. I couldn't dance at all, classmates would call me to the dance floor, but I acted busy.. "helping the class DJ". Eventually I couldn't fool them anymore and suddenly Cherish played.. I walked towards her and asked her to dance.. She gazed into my eyes and just followed me onto the dance floor.. She gave me courage to dance the rest of the night away... What a gal!

I graduated college in 85 and lost a fraternity brother to a drowning that summer . This song reminds me of his passing and my girlfriend during that time . I should have never let her get away.
