In my neck of the woods, the Januaries of long, long ago would be 🧊, so only the kids a few houses away on our block would ice-skate to my house when my mom (also a Cap) stubbornly with hold a birthday party for me. By my 9th birthday, I had hoped that no one would show up at all -- because that meant a week of left-over cake (my mom insisted on ordering a sheet cake the size of our basement🤣) and weeks of hotdogs and pop.
