I bought this exact bike. I love mine. It's a Ninja1000 tuned down ,lower compression , a real rocket. It's about 120H.P. and something like 80Ft.Lbs. of torque. With the 6 speed gearbox , it's top end speed is around 145MPH. This bike has a bit higher road clearance , but loves to lean in low on the tight turns. At around 550 LBS. in weight ,it is a very nimble bike. Doesn't really matter how fast you are going , it WILL lift that front tire up at most any speed if you are not careful. A fun ride. I've ridden mine all day and that seat makes the difference , not sore at all.

I have the 2017 versys 1000LT. Real flickable, stable and sporty in the corners. It has the updated dash too. The stock seat is very comfortable but I got a corbin, even better.
Its 550lbs wet so its not too bad. When you are at a stop or walking it around, you can feel the weight. But as soon as you get going it all disappears. I think the seat height is around 33in. Its tall but manageable(Can flatfoot both feet), I have a ~34in inseam. Shorter riders might have some difficulties, but its easily balanced. I also have a Holeshot Corbin seat on it. My wife and I attempted a tour and had to turn back because of hurricane Florence, got almost 900miles on that trip. Was super comfortable and easy to ride.
I've been in a Versys 1000 since 2013 and I say it's a good sport touring. It is not a big trail as initially commented, but it is very comfortable and with good autonomy. Unfortunately it lacks cruise control and front lighting in led but I believe the next model should have.

I have a versys 650 and it's super nice, I am dying to have a go on the 1000 as well... Frank Malone More torque on low rev. Little bit of valve adjusment and mapping of the ECU I think. But you get better fuel economy and more comfortable handling at low speed.

Gear indicator on dash should be a given. My FJR has one as standard. My little Ninja 300 got an aftermarket gear indicator put on it, what a difference.
