That was "Julius." As for the similarity to FELIX, this was at the insistence of Margret Winkler, who was having trouble with Pat Sullivan when she was distributing FELIX THE CAT. Yes, copyright issues were not strongly enforced then, which is how the WInkler Company got away with releasing some of the ALICE COMEDIES using the "Felix" name in the title. For example, instead of ALICE CHOPS THE SUEY, they would substitute it with "Felix Chops the Suey."

The film market was wide open for entrepreneurs back then and copyright laws were very weak. One cartoonist would lift from anothers good idea, but the first cartoon cat on film was "Puss in Boots".One will see alot of swiping of original material in early 1920's films. It's up to our era to document and credit the creators truthfully.

This was the only ALICE COMEDY to make use of the OUT OF THE INKWELL ink bottle format made famous by Max Fleischer. The entire concept of Alice in Cartoonland was a reversal of OUT OF THE INKWELL, which Disney was certainly aware of.

@TheMartorelliOne Not far from. Disney wasn't the only one stealing ideas, though. Copyright laws weren't as strict then. Disney's version of the cat, however, was named Julian.
