VAT started at 8% when UK joined the "Common Market." Why hasn't it finished now UK has left the EU? It is still at 20% which is equal to the lower rate of income tax.
Cause it replaced purchase tax and it wasn't 8% it was 10%..... the rates have been changed by various chancellors of different political parties , l know you like to blame the EU but you're wrong.

Since the dat Heath took us into the common market this country has slowly gone down hill until we're now very nearly at the bottom. To make it even worse we have all these illegals to get the hell out of here.
It does not matter to our socialist public sector where the tax comes from. It is seen as another source of income to keep itself funded. Even though everyone pays VAT, a large proportion is paid by businesses, and the private sector and thus the public sector is kept well funded.

Just spent 18 hours in A&E with my Dad before we could get him into a ward.He has a inoperable brain tumour. Nurses were amazing, as was everyone in the hospital. But this government has gutted the NHS. My last experience with the NHS was 15 years ago and it was great. We lived abroad since 2014, came back 18 months ago. It's unbelievable what this government has done to our health services. Shameful. 😢
Sorry to hear about your father. But my opinion is that this useless government have not so much gutted the NHS, but have imported hundreds of thousands of additional NHS patients from countries where they have not had access any proper healthcare. These individuals each bring with them a lifetime of accumulated health issues - straight into the NHS. And that's before their extended families arrive. Just go into any hospital and observe. The evidence is right there in front of you.

I was doing 33 in a 30 in warwickshire and had to do a bad drivers course.

One of the big problems we have is people who do keep voting for the same parties regardless of their dreadful performance.

Well, everything Nigel was saying was hitting the right buttons with me. Until the final minutes when he said family would have no influence on his goals. One year into our marriage we were lucky to be gifted a baby daughter, she was however severely disabled. We were forced to give up our home that we were were buying, our carers and any chance of a normal life. 39 years on we are still battling to try and provide a stable and secure future for her. To us family comes first, not own goals.
Nobody has been able to get a message across like Mr Farage since Churchill. He’s a great mind and equally great orator.
Come back Nigel and give us hope for the future.

Yesterday we saw media coverage of Police rounding up immigrants to deport them, Coincidentally the potholes I have spent the last three years trying to avoid in my home town, now have white circles painted round them. After many years of seeing this trivia to garner votes, this year really is time for change. I have voted Labour, Been a Conservative member , and what a waste of time that has been. There aren't many politicians who understands the terrible impact of IR35 on businesses. In fact, I've given up working seriously. I'll be voting Reform in the hope that we can turn things around and get down to building the UK once again.

For me IR35 meant paying nearly 60% tax (NI paid twice out of my day rate + apprentice levy). An 'employee' with zero benefits, no sick pay, no holiday pay - unless you put it away yourself upfront. I was Ltd Co before that - forced out by IR35 - this is how you kill a small business(es).
