Great story!!
Thank you!
I went to the U.K. in 2005! I was 8yrs old and my brother was 12. I got to spend 3 months in Europe!!!
3 months! You must have had a great time!
2006 was 10 years ago almost 11 years ago! it's awesome
I remember that year like it was yesterday in high school!
I can't believe all that time has passed...many things have changed, many things have stayed the same.
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL It's true, I'm still in the same house for 16 years! but some things had changed.
In a dark, dark world ....Paul makes me happy
Of that I am glad.
I live in Manchester uk. Glad you enjoyed your visit to our country! Digestive biscuits and alcohol! You know how to live Paul! lol! Another top video!
Thanks Paul! Mach Schnell!
This one is officially my favorite of your videos, yo. Keep it Weird!
Fantastic story!
Thanks Joseph!
I love these videos!!! It's amazing to see and hear about your adventures. Definitely keep making videos like these. They ROCK!!!
I was lead to your channel by a friend. Brilliant!
Thanks Scot!
You are a great story teller Weird Paul.
Thank you. That means a lot to me.
So funny! Thanks for sharing!
Glad you enjoyed it!
i have no idea why, but im just captivated by these vlogs, i think the camera you use for most of your recordings is a large portion of the charm
Thanks James, thank you for watching!
Thank you for uploading this video. I've been looking forward to this. 🤗
I hope that you enjoyed it!
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL I did! 😃
Leeds is cool, I'm from Newcastle we used to put on a legendary open mic night there, for some reason we all ended up going down to Leeds to put on a show for the local radio. After we all did our pieces for the radio (including my awesome solo folk guitar piece) we went to someone's house where I was plied with various drugs & don't remember much after that except when we all went into a kebab joint and sang "A Message To You Rudy" in four part harmony. Great town.
Wow, now that's a memory right there!
Such a great trip. I have been watching all your videos lately after seeing y'all perform at the fallout shelter and really love the videos and your music. My family really enjoys it and can't wait to see more. Thanks weird Paul !
Thanks Kris, thank you for watching!
Great video Paul and I went to the UK in 2001 for the 25th anniversary of punk rock music festival so much fun😎
Thanks! That sounds like it must have been amazing!
Your memory is amazing
My memory is really not that good. But, I wrote down everything that happened on the trip, every night I was there. All I had to do was read my journal.
7:49 these 2 tags are from the store Sports Direct
I visit Leeds most weekends. The place saved my life twice. Literally. Had two heart valves replaced there in the Leeds General Infirmary!
Two heart valves, wow
Technically, it was the same valve twice, but it still counts!
Come back to England Weird Paul! We need you here
Just need someone to buy me a plane ticket!
Loved it Paul cheers! 😎
Thank you!
Lovely stuff Paul! Cool you really experienced life in England ;-) BBC Radio - Town Halls - Cake - Heritage - Digestive Biscuits!
All the important stuff?!
Yes :-D
loved the video Paul .hope you have more video you can show of your trip.
Thanks Allan! I don't really have much other footage of the trip itself, just some of those clips are longer. I do have both of my complete concert appearances though.
Man, you're so entertaining I'm commenting twice. Subscribed!
Thank you Scot, thanks for subscribing!!
....then I had a Jack Daniels and Coke. Damn you are a good story teller Paul.
hahaha
Fights, trash fires and a fella pissing in the lift. Sounds like you got the full English experience m80.
I like to think that I didn't miss a thing.
I bet you’d enjoy Liverpool more.
that's awesome that you opened for bob log he just like you has some unique and very cool music .
Yeah and I met him and he's a super nice guy!
great video Paul
I love your channel and music
Thanks James!
Your music is awesome!
Thank you so much!
great video, paul!
Thanks Jason!
amazing memory you have
My memory really isn't that great. Luckily, I wrote down very detailed notes about the entire trip.
Awesomeness
I am not convinced that footage of you WASN'T filmed in 1996!...also you look so much like Kurt Cobain in the Kinky Donuts photo.
Hey love your vids mate. I stay in the Leeds Ibis all the time, I travel there for work a few times a year (I'm a trade union rep from Glasgow, Scotland). Hope you're well Weird Paul :)
Very interesting and grabbing story, Paul. Keep it up!
Thank you Gavin!
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL No problem, Paul!
This is awesome. I haven't been to England in 26 years! And I didn't have a *single* digestive biscuit when I was there. But I did lose my luggage. It never arrived at Heathrow.
Man that blows. How does that work, do they compensate you for what they lost?
that sounds like a lot of fun! specially the part of getting drunk. you know, sightseeing its better when you see double!!
I definitely drank a lot more 10 years ago...I don't drink very much now!
Hi Paul I am from England, and never knew the city of Leeds had a film festival, you definitely learn something new everyday😂. I hope the injury to your foot didn't sour the trip too much.
Hi Michael! Nothing could sour the trip too much, I had such a great time!
wow paul, you must have a really vivid memory!
Not really - but I do have a VERY detailed journal.
ah, I see.
That was awesome! Wish I could have been there. Have some drinks. Go to some shows. Sounds like you had a blast! Good video!
Thanks Sage!
Funny thing about the song "Alive" by Pearl Jam that I find interesting, and you might too: Mother Love Bone/Pearl Jam guitarist Stone Gossard once said that "Alive" was originally written as a Mother love Bone song in around 1988 or 1989, complete with the late Andrew Wood's lyrics and vocals instead of Eddie Vedder's. This version of the song was called "Dollar Short", and was played live at least once or twice. Gossard swears they played it in Portland, Oregon once. Unfortunately Mother Love Bone never got to record the song with Andrew before his passing, after which the band ultimately turned into Pearl Jam. Stone Gossard and bassist Jeff Ament are STILL looking and waiting for someone to turn up online with a recording of Mother Love Bone playing the song live.
Just a side-note: Stone, Jeff, and Mother Love Bone's Bruce Fairweather were all in a band called Green River with members of Mudhoney before either Mudhoney or Mother Love Bone were formed. To many, Green River was possibly (as well as probably) the very first grunge band ever, and I highly recommend giving them a try too.
Excellent video you deserve way more subs!
Thanks! Last year I was only getting like 7 subs a day. Right now I'm getting at least 55 a day, so it's getting better!
WEIRD PAUL - ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S You rarely travel outsider of the USA?
I wanna see that movie, now.
The new movie is filming this weekend.
Life Leeds us in strange directions. I got blistas on me fingas. My mom has a way cool scrapbook when she visited in 74.
I have Blistex on mine.
this is really excited, but I didn't see the Lo-fi documentary. :/
Wow, looks like you had a great time 😂 welcome to England, buddy 😂😂😂😂 (I live in England)
I had an exceptional time!
Not watched top of the pops in years, in Leeds right now, born here 👌
Ah, I love your hometown!
Sounds like you had quite a trip, and weakness for biscuits :D
Yes I was told about the digestive biscuits before I left the US and so I was prepared to feast upon them on my arrival.
no way my home town i was six then great story paul
Paul, doing some of the Drinky-Drink in England!!!
*hic*
Leeds is a great city and there's plenty to do - I'd 100% recomment checking out the Royal Armoury that's based there.. The Ibis you stayed at is cheap and popular with Hen or Stag nights, hence why your other half saw someone peeing in the lift.
This sounds similar to my last trip there. Too much alcohol and busted knees from accidentally getting lost in Sheffield trying to find my hotel. I was not in the band that performed in Leicester (John Hackett Band) but the drummer drove me there and allowed me to haul equipment into the venue. Paul, did you know the 313 CD was finally released after 30+ years. It's on Divebomb records of which I suspect you are aware.
Brilliant again Paul . Backpacking through Europe is an American experience everyone should try. All the culture, diversity and new experiences. I've been over many times not just England.
It's a shame your passport is non valid you would absolutely go bonkers in Japan. My daughters can't wait since they are huge anime fans. Keep retrospective
Ps Paul next time absinthe for your toe :)
I have always wanted to go to Japan, I love Japanese music, food, movies, anime, manga, etc. I have been told that my music would probably go over well there. But I have no money so I will just dream for now!
haha, yes!
if I had my extra money from my estate I would take you and your gf. yes you would be a big hit. my daughter wants to sent you a self portrait she is 6 so don't be shocked lol. do you have a link to send it .
You can e-mail it to me at weirdpaulp@gmail.com- I am looking forward to seeing it!
Come back and visit again soon Paul. Just make sure you avoid the wet puddles in the elevators.
Yes Matt! I still can't believe that really happened!
Please visit England again!
You were in england Nov 05, I was there Dec 05!
Damn crazy trip!
I'm going back to London in december for christmas. Haven't been in 5 years. also will be going to Scotland and Ireland. Born and raised in Sydney Australia! Married a Highend travel agent! Best thing i ever did! i have been all over the world thanks to my beautiful wife! Coming back to USA next year for my 40th! Coming for a sporting trip to see the Green Bay Packers! New Jersey Devils again! and for 1st time seeing Oklahoma City Thunder! and couple of other NBA and NHL teams! I still don't like to fly and cant sleep a wink on planes most of the time.
Wow you are really lucky getting to see and experience all those places!
very cool, would love to see your documentry or how you started in music.
I'm sure I'll be doing more videos about my music in the coming years!
wow I'm shocked as you came within 7 miles of me wish I'd known you back then you....I never knew you was so famous back then you my freind are an honorary brit .....hope you come over here again .....and York is such a good city Jorvik viking centre is such a good tour
Thank you for bestowing me the title of honorary brit! I don't think I felt famous...I guess I still don't!
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL buddy you are your content is some of the most detailed and informative.....your whole life id pretty much documented ......still can't believe you was nr me amazing my honorary British freind
Wow not only is Weird Paul a world traveler but also an international celebrity!!
I haven't gotten around much, but I hope to get around more soon!
Really neat. I would love to go to England myself. Maybe some day. Thanks for the interesting video. Enjoy it a lot. Also did you happen to come across anything that you bought?
I didn't buy anything there other than food. The reason is, I had a hard enough time coming up with the money for the plane ticket. I didn't have any money left!
Wow...that's a long plane ride. The farthest iv'e ever been away from my house is to New York City.
Yeah, I don't like long plane rides. I hate feeling cooped up!
I went to the UK once. The first thing I did was walk across Abbey Road
Very cool. I was only at the airport in London, so I didn't see anything there.
i have to admit i have never heard of digestive biscuits until now.
We all have that special moment where we heard of digestive biscuits.
Come back to Leeds !!
I hope to, one day!
"...so, I had a JD & Coke..." Of course you did.
I literally laughed out loud at the 'mind your feet' story... eww!
Yes it is quite funny and quite disgusting!
Hi Paul, I am in leeds and I go to the leeds film festival every year. You should try out more independent movies and set tickets for horror and anime next time!
Hi Eric! I don't know if I'll ever get to go back there, but who knows?
Sounds like a great time. I've only been out of the country once, and that was to Mexico.
I've never been there Mike, how was it?
You know, its kinda neat...but not as stately as Europe. Great for shopping!
lololol that is weird awesome!
haha!
Aw, I wish I knew you then, i'd have come saw it :)
But are digestive biscuits just Graham crackers? They've got loads more types here now, even one with caramel in the middle, so they're all chewy!
no they are plainer than digestive. here in canada we get both and digestive are way better
They are a £1 in the Co-Op at the moment, great to get when going to school :P
I still didn't have much of a web presence then, so not as many people were aware of me. I was more than happy to come over there and perform and eat digestives, though!
allan fulton
Plainer as in less taste?
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL
Haha, awesome! You must also try Hobnobs as well, digestive biscuits made from oats, if you like digestives, you'll absolutely love hobnobs.
DUDE I HAVE YOUR SAME HAIRSTYLE
Nadronast GoD oF aUtIsM Lol.
XD
Hola soy de México!!
Brits are very good to make Ghotic Rock music.
Brilliant video Paul!! I live further north than Leeds in a city called Newcastle (where the band Venom are from....and Sting..but I'm more proud of Venom haha) I went to the States earlier this year and did exactly what you did....I've got a whole load of receipts from the most mundane stuff that I bought out there....that includes a lot from Wendy's where, after trying a triple cheeseburger, I was hooked!! Going again next year and my family and I are very excited although I'm most excited about getting to eat at Wendy's again!!!
Get a frosty while you're there! They are the best! I also love Wendy's fries.
Yes The fries are amazing! Ive just looked up what Frosty's are and Im definitely getting one...or ten...
Heramitep
lol You'll love em!
Yeah Venom are so much cooler than Sting! I don't eat much fast food and I won't eat at McDonalds at all. But given the choice, I would go to Wendys!
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL
I hate McDonalds! I refuse to support them too. I hardly ever eat fast food either. But like you said, Wendy's is the best choice.
If you ever make it over again, I'll show you around Liverpool and buy you a couple of pints, Paul.
Fight in pub. Yeah that's England alright.
and Canada
and the mark that gave you that gift isn't me but I wish it was as your a great guy
I'm a new fan and would enjoy a tape of your music
Well you can start out by listening to a lot of my albums for free at www.weirdpaul.bandcamp.com
Cool. Thanks!
fantastic story!!! thank you so much for telling it!" hideously drunk." ...what kind of cake was it they welcomed you with?
Thanks Stephanie! I can't remember what kind of cake it was other than it was just a small cake, like a cupcake. But a square one. I'd like to call it a "tea cake". That's just what I'd like to call it, though!
hay Paul and your passport photo you look like Kurt Cobain
I had dyed my hair red, I think that has something to do with it
how did you like the movie, Monster House?
Sounds like you had a great time back then. Come to Scotland next time!
I was actually hoping to go to Scotland after Leeds...we were talking to some film festival there. But it didn't happen.
Just noticed the lines at the bottom of the screen. Do you film on tape?
Correct. Here is the manner in which I employ it: ruclips.net/video/sv6FUE6eXpU/видео.html
TheMelvor Hey Melvor,If Billy and Jay vists Pittsburgh they should vist paul
Unfortunately, I have been in Britain. But I would like. A chapter in itself, this country. State within a state, specific culture, a world in itself, as today's Turkey. So give these countries will come. Each of its traditions. Japan also. Multicultural Britain though, I think it still has its British identity. Like Brighton, London and the Channel Islands. Britain, France, pleasant climate. Guernsey, Jersey, Alderney, Herm and so on.
I hope to visit many countries sometime!
I live in Leeds 👍
You live in a great town!
Leeds, live it, love it, get beaten up in it!!
:)
Yep, thats the UK alright.
Where can I find that documentary of yours?
It's only available on my website - to purchase on DVD.
Great story Paul...are you still a fan of digestive biscuits ?
I can taste them now...
Did you get your picture at the iconic Abbey Road crossing
No the only part of London I was in was the airport.
Kinky Donuts! The only donuts I'll eat!
haha, I love it!
I wish there had been a RUclips around in 2006 when you visited England. I'd have got the train to York from Chester where I lived at that time to meet you. man, I love York. the viking place you went to was The Jorvik viking centre, my favourite stop off when in York, tell me did you go for a drink at The Roman Bath? they have a real roman bath down underneath the pub in the celler 😊😊😊
Wow, I had no idea about that Roman Bath! I feel like I really missed out!
ORIGINAL VLOGGER 80'S WEIRD PAUL Come back sometime and I'll show you around more. In Chester, the city I was born, we have a Roman Ampithetetre, it's the biggest and most complete in all of Europe. Let me know anytime your invited 😊😊😊
I hope I get a expenses paid trip sometime!
The ampithetetre is free to see, it's outside 😊 what did you think of the Jorvik viking centre in York anyway? I remember the first time I went, blew my mind 😀
It was quite a sight to behold! What history right in front of you!
We need to find a reason for you to come back to the UK! Could biscuits tempt you?
Hobnobs!
Biscuits and airfare!
Can't go wrong with shortbread.
Ain't nothin wrong with cornbread.
@Paul is the documentary still available on dvd?
Yes. It is available on my website, www.weirdpaul.com
how do I pay you and how much to ship to the UK?
If you can email me at weirdpaulp@gmail.com I can give you the info!
Digestives are great and all but I prefer non chocolate covered Hob Nobs. Also, I love Monster House. Are you aware of the comic prequel about Skull and Bones' metal band?
No, I didn't know about that!
What exactly are digestive biscuits??
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digestive_biscuit
i would like to see some live footage of you and your band performing any links ?
Sure Mr. Trump! Here's a couple good videos of my band performing:
ruclips.net/video/WvHtRTVK3p8/видео.html

That first movie is only available on DVD on my website right now. The new movie that just came out should be streaming online by the end of the year. Hopefully the first movie will be streaming also by next year.
