I took the route you mentioned, the resale market is great for THE birkin, got my 35 black PHW dream. I didn't want to take the chance of spending endlessly without getting the black i always wanted.

Well, the Birkin doesn't come in 32, so maybe that helps you with your decision! Hermes does do a bag very similar to the Birkin, called a Haut a Courroies that is a bit taller, but also has much shorter handles, so some find it uncomfy over the forearm. But they can be found for a (relative) bargain, so maybe that's an option?
You are great, no way could I ever afford to spend that kind of money on a handbag. I don't know that I ever would if I did have the money. You however are one of the most down to earth people with a high end handbag I have ever seen and I think that that is a very special skill. Your videos are hilarious and I will keep watching :)

Hermes has a ridiculous customer service if one has to purchase a lot of items to establish a relationship with an SA and the brand. My own experience is more like being at the right place at the right time. The few things I have previously bought from Hermes I don't even think were registered when I bought my Birkin. I just happened to ask if they had such and such bag, they did, and I bought it.

My Prada saffiano lux tore in black has had some bad luck I dropped a whole cup of coffee in it once and washed it out as well as a whole bottle of oasis juice and washed it out and it is so wearing because the water didn't even damage it. It's not my most favourite but definitely the most durable and loyal bag I have. I have the large one and I can literally wear it everyday as well as use it as a weekend bag easily. An unusual question for you: I am a man in my mid-30s and I have wanted to carry a Birkin for some time now...but haven't...for the very reasons you mentioned. I am not rakish or tall (I am plump and stout--lol) and suspect that the bag would wear me... I suspect that the only way I could pull off the bag (I love the iconic silhouette and heft of the bags) is if I carried a SEVERELY distressed and "loved" version like the gentleman you mentioned you see around London. A man carrying a (traditionally) women's handbag in pristine/overly cared for condition...can be a tough look to carry for us mortals and non-editorial model types... SOOOO...where can I find a BEAT UP (BEYOND spa salvage) argile Birkin 40cm in Togo with in-color stitching and palladium...lol. I just could never bring myself to pay the markup on the reseller market for a good condition bag and then distress it myself...but realize that most sellers aren't in the business of selling a busted-looking bag...

I had color transfer problem with a red Lindy clemence leather. but thankfully Hermes took care of it very well, but now I am paranoid about future color transfers especially with my lighter Hermes prices (i.e. rose Jaipur).

However I was offered for a Kelly from my lovely SA last year, but I declined the offer as it was not the colour that I was looking for. Few months later, I was offered another Kelly in the colour that I adored... It is expensive bag, so I think we should not just take whatever that we were offered (and we did not like it)
