Your short, succinct, personal reviews of these systems was interesting and refreshing. So nice to have someone say unequivocally Yes to this and (in so many words) Not Quite to that!

Thank you so much to provide your voice from an experienced music listener!! I greatlly agree to your comments, I personally avoid going to the bigger Hifi shows here in Germany. The prices of gear has dramatically increased in the covid-era and retailers/distris saw how much money they can make. I dont charge that, because there must be a market, else they wouldnt do it. But for every average audiophile, it is very, very hard and thats why we see so much moving to China clones or even China brands coming into the market wtih good quality gear! I've the fortune to spent quite a lot and here in Germany our local hifi vendors have awesome Equipment, but for a price where you need an bigger pocket and I see more and more are focusing on pure-highend consumers and completly get rid of 'average gear' which is sad to see. Vintage is extreme overrated and love what you said!! I own a complete revised Marantz 2270, but just for old-time-remembers and Radio, but never ever as an up-to-date amp 😊 keep going and greets from germany!

Watching you as I write. You brought back a few memories with shop walls filled with receivers everywhere in the 70s.What I did enjoy was none of the loud silliness and hype all the others do on their videos.I have just moved back from a Audio Note system to HegelH390/Hegel Viking myself. Will be checking out your other videos.

I couldn't agree more with comments about price. Four years ago I became so frustrated with this that I joined the DIY community. I have built over twenty amplifiers, preamplifiers, phono preamps, step-up transformers, DACs and speakers since then. If you want a 300B amplifier, do not buy that Western Electric. Get yourself a soldering iron and buy one of the Elekit 300B amps with the Lundahl transformer upgrade. You can build the amp for less than $2500. Herb Reichert reviewed the amp, and he loves it. So do I. Regarding anyone (including Gordon Holt) who says that digital playback sounds like analogue....I am afraid they are not able to hear properly. They don't don't sound the same and they will never sound the same because one is digital and the other is analogue. I love them both for their different strengths. I encourage everyone out there to build their own gear. You'd be amazed at what you can do.

    Nice 👍
You talked about realism, but sometimes when you get home tired you prefer something more calming and relaxing like harbeth and proac over something like wilson audio or equivalent that has a sound that doesn't let you to relax as those mentioned .

My time was the late 1960s when it was still about flat response.

I enjoyed your video!! I can’t wait for the next .. we miss you when you don’t make videos! I want to make you a cuestión: if vintage for 70s is very expensive and someone’s try to advantage of you (you say the 90s amplifier are very good or even is stard the highend) can you tell me some brands or models that I can find because when is 90s is less expensive than the 70s .. thanks 🙏 I have NAD c700 and I’m happy 😊 but I want also a vintage 90s 👍 I just want to try some cost like 50$ in goodwill store

I agree with your comments about the hi-fi hobbyist and the price of products at the show. But can you describe exactly what you mean when you say 1975 sound? That’s over 40 years ago and I have no idea what that means. Perhaps another video about that, or a reply here to describe what you mean by that. Thanks!

The markup in the audio world is out of hand. I understand R&D but most $30,000 speakers have $5000 in materials MAYBE.
They are just taking advantage of an older well off crowd.

Best value high end speakers? Probably Osborne loudspeakers in Australia. Little over £20k. Google they are incredible value.
