Pantip was great in 2016, remember A&W root beer at the entrance. But Rama9 is a good area too. One of the best things living in Bangkok is fantastic food courts. Nothing like 'em in the states.
The entrepreneur spirit in Thailand is extremely admirable. New business energy, dreams, and hope are always present. Much effort went into this experiment, and everyone should visit soon and take photos, because in Thailand, the chance to do so might not be there 6 months from now. With the free air-conditioning, maybe a floor for university student housing would be a hit. Condo conversions need windows, but student housing isn't as particular. This mall has downtown proximity to shopping, a food court, transportation, and universities.
Moin Jeroen!
Wow thanks Jeroen for this video letting me see how the Pantip Plaza where was always my shopping destination since my childhood is still be well doing today. I was going to this mall since its opening ~40 years ago when it wasn't even a mall full of IT goods. I watched movies, went to a concert, bought jet fighter models, and later years computer parts here. Yeah this memorial place of mine really reanimated from ashes now.
Look so amazing new shopping mall in Bangkok very modern style and good architecture But look a big quiet I hope will get busy soon Thanks for your update Watching from LasVegas
Love your videos! I discovered you through Chris from Retired Working for you. I'm currently in Bkk by way of Los Angeles. Thank you and I can't wait to see you get that 100k plaque! Congrats on your success my friend!
This mall is currently owned by the same business owner as The One Bangkok, a mega project worth more than 120 billion baht or 3.8 billion usd. This Phenix Food Wholesale mall is positioned as a world food destination that will bring together restaurants, products and food items from around the world in this place. In addition to food, it is also a place for activities related to cooking competitions, live music, event performances, and there is a plan that there may be a request to extend Rachapasong or R skywalk from Platinum Mall to connect to this mall. This mall should have a very good future because it belongs to the same investment group as The One Bangkok, one of the mega real estate projects, and ThaiBev, one of the food and beverage giants company group. 😅
Thank you for making us discover this new mall. I live not very far from there and had no idea it had opened. I do wonder how shop owners make money and malls cover their costs with so many malls in a fairly small area of Bangkok, from the Phoenix all the way to the EmSphere which can be done within 6 BTS stations, and not counting all the other big malls of Bangkok.
I do love that they are utilizing the Rooftop! Though they should’ve invested on a wonderful Phoenix like Element on the rooftop to Attract ppl! The glitching is unacceptable in the entrance and should revert to a solid color. They did a decent job!
Nice video Jeroen, I have been several times to Pantip Plaza over the years I love computers and Photography and bought a camera lense there. At that time it really the place to be for this kind of things. Will do the anal boat trip next time when I'm in Bangkok again. I did not know there was a rooftop also cool.
No Dutch food stand??? This is an outrage! Ha. Thanks for the vid, Jeroen. Looks like a nice place to get lost for an afternoon. Hey, is the weather a bit cooler now? Or is this video from mid-morning or something, when temps are not so bad? Appreciate your work.
Good video. 2:26 I think you'll find the IT Mall at Pantip did not move to Fortune Town, as there has been an IT Mall in Fortune for many years already whilst Pantip was operating. Given the choice of going to either, Fortune always wins as its on an MRT line whereas Pantip now Phenix is a pain to get to and always will be unfortunately.
I remember Pantip back from when they’d burn CD’s for you while you had a coffee. Note on the back of the CD sleeve to remind you not to register the software online. 😂
While I wasn’t a huge fan of the Pratunam area, it looks like it still has that authentic Thailand vibe, even with the newly renovated malls. No need to turn it into some high class luxury area.
I'm Thai, not living in Thailand. Thank you so much for updating the places. I'm excited every time u introduce new places.😊
Thanks Jeroen! Always good seeing you.
Always love the canal boat rides.

Canal commute is amazing!! Another new thing in Bangkok thanks to the Mayor Jeroen! 😎 this mall looks amazing. From Pantip Plaza to this… nice!
Thanks for sharing! Always helpful
Amazing how many good Malls Bangkok have.
Goodview of Bangkok Thailand
Thanks for sharing. Looks like a nice new mall.

A very clear explanatory video.
Love it. This is the type of videos for all to emulate ✋

Holy hell, the uncountable hours I spent in Pantip Plaza back in 2003. Good times!
Bangkok is always reinventing itself! Thanks for this update, Jeroen.
Look so amazing new shopping mall in Bangkok very modern style and good architecture
But look a big quiet I hope will get busy soon
Thanks for your update
Watching from LasVegas
We visited yesterday, this place is amazing, never seen so many huge screens! 😀
Ciao Jeroen I have memories about panthip plaza😅!
Very nice, and a Pickup in 6th floor Rooftop.
Thanks as always jereon from a very unsettled UK right now,,,,peace and happiness 😊😊😊j😊😊j😊😊
everywhere in thailand so beautiful and amazing and modern
I enjoyed the video, always looking for new things to do on out yearly visit to Bangkok.
Great weer wat nieuws in bangkok
Thanks for the update. We were there last December. I did quite a bit of shopping in the clothing district. Very fun for me.
This looks a lot more better than the Old Fashioned Panthip Plaza. Now it have become a little bit more busier. 🙏

Thai Beverage Group, one of the richest people in Thailand.
Another good walking option to get to the new Phenix mall is to take the BTS to Ratchathewi and walk east along Petchaburi road.
I do love that they are utilizing the Rooftop! Though they should’ve invested on a wonderful Phoenix like Element on the rooftop to Attract ppl! The glitching is unacceptable in the entrance and should revert to a solid color. They did a decent job!
Thanks Jerome for d update.
Actually another informative video thank you so much 🎉
Shout out to the old Panthip Plaza and Loso's early 2000's Red Album.
Top dit! Gelijk geabonneerd, laat maar komen ❤ Thailand
Welkom David ;-)

Thanks for this update mate!
Love the canal boats easy and fast😊, always new things to explore, malls are also quite cool 😜 welcome in the heat 😅😅
Yes, great to cool off.
Pantip is look so old. Can't believe Phenix look like the brand new building.
I always put the time of filming at the beginning of the video. I think this was around 1 pm. It was sometime in the early afternoon.
Hi Jeroen. I saw a BeNeLux food stand.
All the best from Guido🙏
It was BeLux Guido. Bier en chocola 🤣
People like me tend to go to regular malls.... Newer ones may be just for a one time visiting experience....
Nice vlog
This is an updated news of this building for me as the old customer of Pantip Plaza (the legend of IT shopping center in BKK)
Do you know that there is Sek Loso song called Pantip
Greetings from Chicago!
Greeting back from BKK Scott ;-) Say hi to the family!
"Water gate" means "Pratunam".
Pratu = gate, door
Nam = water

I think this is the old Pantip Plaza! Maybe you've mentioned it but I've watched this video half without sound lol
Its indeed the old Panthip Plaza ;-)
How do i find this place on google. Google map does not have it
Saw you filming few days ago at T21 Asok haha
Malls we're initially built to give rural Thais air con on their weekends off. Some malls use more electricity than some provinces. Since 1971
I remember Pantip back from when they’d burn CD’s for you while you had a coffee. Note on the back of the CD sleeve to remind you not to register the software online. 😂
i can not find Phenix mall in google map. can you show me how to walk them from chit lom via skywalk? a map would be great
It's not on a google map yet. In the video I show exactly how to get there.
Bad luck not finding any Dutch items in Phenix mall. That area is lively. How do you reckon Oliebollen would go in Thailand?
Did you put the sound effect of horn sound ?
I don't think so :-)
There's still The Pantip at Ngamwongwan mall. For IT most go to Fortune or Zeer if they don't buy online (simpler and cheaper).
While I wasn’t a huge fan of the Pratunam area, it looks like it still has that authentic Thailand vibe, even with the newly renovated malls. No need to turn it into some high class luxury area.
Neither am i. It is cheap and bad quality
Is your accent dutch? Having the hardest time placing it.
Ah, answered later in the video. I knew it! :)
Yes, Dutch indeed ;-)
Poland Holland, for most people outside europe it's the same 😉
Is there Jeffrey steakhouse
The funny thing is that there is still not enough Malls in Bangkok 😂😂😂. Every mall that opens stays packed.😂😂😂
Are there too many malls in Bangkok these days?
No Hollandse stroopwafels en Goudse kaas represented yet? misschien a gat in de markt ! :P
Looks like it will be MBK in miniature.
I will miss the 6 floors of electronics.
That was just what Bangkok was missing..another shopping mall 😂
LOS = Land of Shopping malls
It's sad bkk doesn't have enough malls
I was there in March and it looked very sad….. seems they don’t have enough food courts….
Shopping malls in Canada look very boring compared to Thailand
ah. It an old transform mall so not a new mall.
Looks very empty at the moment
Lots of wasted space. Loads of food outlets and no where to sit and eat.
