    Gratz! I need to see you playing this deck, your decisions and playing through boards. I like this deck a lot but sometimes it feels like it cannot play through one baronne negate. Can you record some freature matches like in locals or maybe testing in some online plataform?

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +2

      I will consider it for the future. I'd like to make a tips and tricks video for VS at some point when I have more time. In the meantime with the baronne comment, I think going second with this deck the focus should be understanding what card effect you want to be negated and which effect you want to hopefully resolve. Using razen search to bait baronne while you have a big guy in hand is ensuring that you can stick a VS on board through the baronne. Another thing that can come up is using the razen pop before the search to bait something, then resummoning razen later off rock to get the search then (naturally this requires a good hand but a lot of your deck is engine so it will happen).

    glad i'm not only keeping up with the VS man !!! it is the best shifter deck damn max all the big guys how did you not brick at all holy

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +1

      The big guys are only bricks if you don't draw a little guy. In which case, you aren't playing regardless of what the big guy would be. But when you do draw a razen or mad love, the bounces feel very good.

    What would substitute Cosmic in the main if FK Snake Eyes and other decks are vulnerable to it?

  • @Lionthehawaiian
    @Lionthehawaiian 9 месяцев назад +1

    When you see both inscription and shifter in your opening hand going first against a supposed snake eye deck do you hold shifter for an attribute and just do inscription? Or do you shifter and hold inscription for turn 3?

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +1

      If I am going first, I will shifter then inscription on the third turn unless I am in deep need for borger draws.
      If I am going second, I will shifter on their turn, then inscription on mine.

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад

      You can go second versus kash. The matchup is really favoured either way, and having more consistency to not brick is nice (especially with thrust into reinforcement of army into razen being even more consistency going second). I go first in every other matchup.

    You didn't run into it this tournament, but how do you think this list is into kashtira? That seems to be the anti-meta du jour at my locals

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +1

      Your main deck has a few deck cards versus it, but the matchup is still very good especially post game 1. All of Kashtira's interruptions target so you can tag out to dodge them with the big guys very efficiently and clean up the board.
      One niche interaction that comes up, is that if you can't go for a rank for play to clear Shang, you can use jiaolong to switch it to attack position to just game them through the Shang if they decide to protect it 2 times. This makes the board a lot easier to clean up.

    How do you think about exosisters in this format?

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад

      I don't think they are great into fire. They rather play breakers but they don't have enough gas to beat fire even after the breakers. They have a good VV matchup so they might be better after a list knocks fire down a bit.

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +1

      Inscriptions is the best card going second versus fire. If it resolves and you open an engine hand, you are in a very favorable spot. Breaking the board and just ending on even just a caesar with inscription up usually means that Fire decks are not making any board on their second turn, and then you kill turn 4.

  • @redoctober67
    @redoctober67 9 месяцев назад

    I hear what you're saying but... It feels like the unspoken line in here is "It did help that I was very lucky throughout the tournament," or "I won most of the die rolls." Something to that effect. SEFK has non-target pops and a boatload of interaction, VV has an omni (which still negate/pops even if you tag out, or they negate/pop the tag itself), an anti-inherent special (anti-Rock) capability, a multi-pop trap. At the very least, going second game 1, SEFK just does so much that I can't picture this deck being able to break all that much, especially letting them make their boards with impunity. Because now you're dealing with their board AND handtraps. And indeed only a quarter of your matches were fire. I guess I'd just have to actually SEE some of these matches. I imagine GKI and Shifter did a lot of heavy lifting?

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад +1

      I won 5/8 die rolls through the event (1-1 versus fire decks). And you are 100% correct in saying that GKI and shifter did the heavy lifting versus fire (versus VV, the breakers were better). But I think the key thing with those cards carrying is that there are 6 of those cards. That's roughly a 60% chance to draw one without factoring in fantastical (and keep in mind inscription can be the 6th card). If you draw 1 of those, you should be favoured in the matchup even going second. Shifter is somewhat obvious, but inscription turning off all followup is massive; the Fire decks boards are very breakable, it is just the issue of dealing with the followup.
      Is it lucky drawing a card with 60+%? Well, somewhat, but it's a high enough percent that across two games going second, you should very comfortable that you can draw 1. If you don't, you aren't breaking that board (cosmic can sometimes steal a game versus FK going second but somewhat rarer).
      This is only a concern going second, going first, you should still feel comfortable. Draw 1 of the 6 and you are heavily favored into fire and even if you don't, an end board of monster nuke, 2 pops, and potentially a fenrir or bago is going to be decent especially if you are effectively dodging hand with big guys.
      This isn't a tier 1 deck, but this deck at least has a reasonable game plan going into fire decks. It's a solid call for a regional deck where you can expect some fire but also other shifter decks and voiceless. I definitely got lucky to some degree at this event, but my luck is more comparable to flipping a heads on a coin as opposed to winning the lottery. Also, VV is a lot harder matchup than Fire kings. Grinding versus that deck is very hard.

      @redoctober67 9 месяцев назад

      Appreciate you taking the time to flesh this out some more. Thanks. I'm still not entirely sold, but maybe I'll do some local testing with it and see what happens. I'm planning on taking VV to the DFW regional, but VS could be the sleeper list if I get an invite from DFW. Like I said, perhaps some testing. Gonna save your video for future reference.@@SantoliYugioh

      @@redoctober67 VV and the fire decks are definitely better than VS. But if you start comparing VS to kash or floo, then there is a much closer argument.

    Don't you brick on the big vs cards

    • @SantoliYugioh
      @SantoliYugioh  9 месяцев назад

      You don't really brick on the big guys. If you don't draw a level 4 VS, then you brick, and an additional hand trap over a big guy in hand really isn't fixing the issue. If you draw a level 4 VS, then your big guys are immediately live and are great at pushing through boards.
