Buying used kits is perfect for the exact reason you described, filling out your collection with kits you don’t love enough to buy. My best deal I’ve gotten was I managed to snag a PG Perfect Strike, PG Strike Freedom and PG Skygrasper for a little under $300 shipped all together.
There are a lot of great sellers in Japan. Every time I have bought a used gunpla from a Japanese seller, they sent a hand written thank you letter and a gift. From extra weapons to option sets to a origami swan and extra origami paper with instructions. 10 out of 10.
I always save the poly bags that comes with the kits, they are great for storing extra parts and are useful when packing up and shipping gunpla out. It's nice to keep all the parts packaged neatly and organized for the buyer.
I always buy pre owned gunpla for Kitbashing since it's cheap, Especially when looking for specific parts like backpack, legs etc. Saves me time and money.
@@smokemidigofoolish5797 Oh. I usually look first in the facebook marketplace for those who're quitting the hobby sale things. Other one is looking in my local online shop. I'm from Philippines. Other than built kits I also get Gundam Scraps.
I’ve been buying used kits for years, it’s a great way to fill out that bucket list without spending an arm and a leg (especially now with the resale market being the way it is). I just got the Pg Zeta used myself a couple of months back, I’d probably otherwise never have sprung for it. It was a fun one to disassemble, clean up, and tune up :)
This is actually how started my Gunpla collection. There was a local seller who was selling his Gunpla collection and I bought 7 kits from him 3 MG, 2 RG and 2 HG for 200€. I also had two unbuilt kits because I was getting into Gunpla and I didn't know would I really like or not but after those first two kits I fell in love with Gunpla building and I will never buy prebuild Gunpla because that takes the build experience out of the kit.
Bought a pre-loved MG Unicorn Full Armor Ver. Ka and MG Quan[t] Full Saber for only $50 and these still have the boxes and runners along with the kits.
I got the PG RX-78-2 back in 2005 and I have to say that it was a beast of a kit for me. First kit I ever put together was a 1/144 high grade Alex with the Chobham armor, then I moved on to MG. All my MG kits took me about 9 hours or so to put together. The PG 78-2 took me five days while I was sick to finish. It came in a box that was, at most, three feet long, one foot wide, and standard size height for a MG box. Inside that box was a standard MG size box, two dividers, and a bunch of runners. Inside the smaller box was more runners, the instructions and a nice little booklet that explained everything about the V project, including how the beam sabres and beam rifle worked. It was all in Japanese though and I don't know any, so the mysteries of that booklet will remain just that to me. There are so many screws in it though, but it's worth it to see the entire thing standing there on your desk. There are also springs in the lower legs that, if you make it 'walk' on your desk or table, it'll actually move the calf of the leg towards the ankle and bounce back up into it's regular position. It also comes with a transforming core fighter and what I like to call a 'blank,' and non-transforming core block that comes unpainted, but has a pilot figure and a lot of inner detail for the core block itself. You can have one or the other in the Gundam and display the other without jeopardizing integrity. And then there's all the opening hatches on it.
While I do prefer to build gunpla as to me makes good leisure time but this is a convenient way to get kits that you want but don't have time to build.
I purchased an auction for about $300 that included about I’d estimate $5-600 worth of model kits. I ended up selling the stuff I didn’t want/already had. A couple things were broken and needed repair, but I earned back my 300 and got a PG Unleashed RX78 (broken V-fin though with the piece that broke missing) HG Age 1-3 which really impressed me among other HGs/RGs, and a few MGs including the Wing Custom Ver Ka. Probably the best deal I’ve ever found. I basically made my money back and still kept what I paid in model kits. Sometimes lots can be an amazing deal, but sometimes they’re a gamble.
Sounds cheap but probably only if you live in Japan. Can't imagine it being much cheaper once shipping cost and import tax is being added and at that price point it might be cheaper to just buy a new kit imo (obviously end price depends which kit and is more of a case on case issue and I guess there can still be cheaper options if someone is lucky). If you are not a builder or are searching parts for kitbashing then I guess it might be a option to consider.
Can confirm. I won a bid on a mg rx78 the origin for $20aud but when you add shipping and the fee, worked out to be $70aud, almost the same price as brand new. Exponentially more expensive with more kits due to shipping based on weight. Would not recommend
There's actually another joint on the O Raiser where you pull the main portion out a bit from the part that connects to the OO so that you can swing the nose downward.
2 weeks ago I used Buyee for the first time and I bought a P-Bandai RX-124 Gundam TR-6 [Haze'n-thley II-Rah]to be delivered in Spain. It was my first Pbandai purchase and it was great because what could have been a "my wallet is destroyed" buy just became a slighty expensive one.
when he mentioned at the end about the idea of buying these pre-built kits to salvage part for a custom build, that kinda made me think of an interesting idea for a character in a Gundam Build Fighters/Divers kind of series, where the character's gundam is like an amalgamation of thrown out gunpla parts, creating some sort of Frankenstain's Gundam, or something like that, that would be cool.
Buying pre-loved kits gives me a nice break once in a while and saves me the hassle of hunting certain kits down. It's nice to do it once in a while but you just have to be careful as some sellers have zero repect for their kits
Ya, I buy Gunpla that already build, or built but damaged & try to repair them. That way I can learn how to customise gunplas & at the same time rescue them.
It's also good for building a grunt army or filling your collection with gunpla you wouldn't care to spend time building or you already built it and are bored.
Quite lucky that some here in Philippines sell built P-Bandai gunpla. Got the Geminass and Varguil from someone recently. A bit of joint tightening and cleanup and they would look real nice.
I have considerd it for some gunpla, especially the premium custom ones that get new panel lines carves in and some extra details. At most i can do a custom paitjobs im not confident in carving nev panel line or even how to make them look good!
Buying 2nd hand kits is common here in my country as well, and mainly for the same reason; to increase the ranks and for kitbash. Got a few units this way. Hehehe.
But you should warn people To check the options >more about items Some people indicate a ridiculous amount of domestic shipping fee. And you'll be charged the amount it says and you won't be able to do anything about it Example you win the bid item 1000 yen And the domestic shipping indicate is 7000 yen You'll be sorry
This. I went in thinking total was going to be cheap. But nope two of my item totaled 2500 yen but with shipping it became 8000 yen. Fk that. Buyee is a bait.
I had this happen when Mecha helped me set up Buyee to get a 1/100 Astraea Type F. It was like $30ish but after the shipping it jumped to like $70. I wasn't thrilled since I've bought things from overseas before and only paid up to like $10, but I still wouldn't have found it cheaper anywhere else so I paid about the same, just with an added wait time. Good learning experience, but it didn't really lose anything so I wasn't mad. P.s. this was well before the MG was announced and I only got around to building it recently. Still worth it for a NG imo.
The perfect grade 78-2 is still an awesome kit. To date it's the only perfect grade I have. I got it like a year after its release while visiting New York. Over the years I just never quite had the money for more. Hopefully I'll pick another up sometime this year. But i loved building it. I get what you're saying about not wanting to build some kits again but thats part of the fun for me. If ive bought it again it's because i will build it again. Ive currently got the banshee, the ova unicorn, the FA unicorn, and perfectability mgs to finish. Im doing custom work on them all and havent had enough time to dedicate but i love the unicorn and the build of the kits.
It is. I buy part kits from eBay and the local hobby shop that takes on big buys. A beloved member of the model community in my area passed away a year ago and had, no kidding, hundreds of kits in his basement. Most of what he had were old aircraft kits from the 70/80s. The shop owner bought the man’s collection to help the family financially in the wake his passing. I’m turn, he sold us kits for good prices. I got a old heavy arms for 5 and gave it titans colors.

I often find myself buying kits from buyee. Sometimes I get used kits for the exact reasons you laid out in this vid. And I generally like the site. BUT every time I order from Buyee I think I'm saving money until I add up all the shipping costs/fees. The site isn't as cheap as it seems. The item prices are low but you typically pay for domestic shipping to the buyee warehouse then pay again for international shipping from buyee to you. Buyee also tacks on their own fees. No hate, they have a business to run and give a good service. They need to make money somehow. I just always find myself paying more for shipping/fees than I do for the product itself. They have a package consolidation option that I always use but every time I have used it so far, it hasn't saved me any money in shipping. All it did was add the individual shipping fees together and tack on an additional fee for the package consolidation. And by the time everything is added up it ends up being similar to sclaper prices. With all this being said Buyee has kits that you just cant find in many countries. Especially now with all the shortages. This is the real utility of Buyee IMO.
1. I love the lo-fi tracks on the vids. 2. The worst part of gunpla in my country is the abusive shipping values, didn't get all the kits I wanted and gave up on the hobby 3. Even tho it can be cheap I would never buy built gunpla, bcz my favorite part is the building process
_That said..._ I did buy a one-of-a-kind pucchiguy painted to look like a Coran from VLD... So, maybe I can see the benefit to prebuilt customs...? If only so I see it on my shelf as something to aim for.
just bought $10 MG Sinanju verka with broken waist not long ago . it was the cheapes i bought after that i got $15 mg Sinanju Stein Verka . after that i keep on coming back to my hobbystore to check some preloved kits . found $30 MG stormbringer . and so on i found Figure from Dragonball to Jijutsu kaisen . i think its bootlegg the letgo price is almost $5 to $10 .
thats what i find the merit of buying preowned, some people doesnt have good nipers so theres a huge nub just waiting for the god hand, also since its on the cheap you can just airbrush it into a colour after a good sanding
for me I'd rather build my kits fresh out of box if I had the free time because there is something zen and addicting building a brand new kit, it feels like getting high on substance, lol.
I'm curious after seeing those Gundam recycle shops is there a site to buy parts? Because I'm missing some pipe pieces for my MG 2.0 char zaku 2 and need replacements.
Can anyone recommend a place where i can buy parts like in the video. I recently lost a part for the plaiobot lazengan and can’t find a pre owned in my area. It’s driving me insane. Have contact sentinel but no dice. JUST ONE PART MISSING, DAMN IT

BEWARE DOMESTIC SHIPPING TRAP!!! Some sellers will have rare kits for super cheap but the domestic shipping rate will be absolutely outrageous!!
Thanks for the info
How to get around that?
@@emperor05 you check the listing. If it says domestic shipping paid by auction winner I'd avoid it. Especially if the buyout price is super low....

Aside of that if you're trying to do kitbash, it's cheaper to buy auctioned used kit instead of buy 2 intact kit. (Unless you're a rich person)

buying pre owned or 2nd hand gunpla pros and cons
Pros:
1. Sometimes cheap
2. You can expect to get rare kits
3. You can be surprised
4. You can find rare vintage kits
Cons:
1. Missing parts (sometimes)
2. Broken parts (also sometimes)
3. Dont overestimate
4. Painted or modified
2.
Cons:
5. can't experience the building itself (kinda like the saying it's all about the journey, not the destination)
If I may need one, I may need those with receipts, especially some contests needed them
I really love this kind of content by you because i really wanted to know if its good to buy a pre owned gunpla!!we all will pray for Spooky btw...

This remmember me here in Brazil this is a lot commun, becouse many guys sell his monteds kits.
holy hell i placed a couple bids on that unicorn/ banshee auction. i find that a bit funny
Can't believe you left the gift on your backlog. Those take priority for me.
for me I'd rather build my kits fresh out of box if I had the free time because there is something zen and addicting building a brand new kit, it feels like getting high on substance, lol.
I love you man, I hope you are getting on well.
9:20 PG Wing Zero!
edit: I was wrong
I'm curious after seeing those Gundam recycle shops is there a site to buy parts? Because I'm missing some pipe pieces for my MG 2.0 char zaku 2 and need replacements.

I think buying used kits is awesome. Got 3 advance of zeta kits for $45, 1 kit isn't even built.
Hi Mecha! Great video! Can I ask u if u will do a Gouf Revive review?
I did want to buy prebuilt kits for customization but ppl on fb market over price them..lol
Can anyone recommend a place where i can buy parts like in the video. I recently lost a part for the plaiobot lazengan and can’t find a pre owned in my area. It’s driving me insane. Have contact sentinel but no dice. JUST ONE PART MISSING, DAMN IT
