  • Let me show you how to make authentic Puerto Rican Quesitos from scratch. These flaky, cream-cheese filled pastries are commonly enjoyed as a morning treat with a cup of café con leche. You'll never taste anything better.
    Quesitos (Puerto Rican Cream Cheese-Filled Pastries)
    For the Sugar Glaze:
    1/2 cup (170 grams) light corn syrup (or honey)
    1/4 cup (50 grams) granulated sugar
    1/4 cup (60 milliliters) cold water
    For the Egg Wash:
    1 large egg yolk
    1 tablespoon (15 milliliters) cold water
    For the Quesitos:
    1- 1 1/4 (500 grams) pound puff pastry (or 17.3 ounce package of frozen puff pastry sheets, thawed in the fridge)
    8 ounces (226 grams) cream cheese, cut into 1/4" wide x 5" long batons
    1/4 to 1/2 cup (50 to 100 grams) granulated sugar
