In this video about sobriety and recovery, I talk about what made staying sober EASY for me. I've been sober since 2019. Follow me on Instagram - / david.herbert.masson
Your video was the first video I ever saw then I was thinking of getting sober. Just celebrated 3 years a few weeks ago. I even worked at a sober living. Thanks !
Hey! I looked up your story and videos just today. All I can say your experiences and delivery really made a big impact on me. You’re such an inspiration and surely your videos and actions can help a lot of other people too even if they don’t all comment on here. I can’t believe how much you turned your life around! You seem exceptionally self-reflective, strong and smart. Keep living your best life, love from northern europe 🧡
Thank you for your video. Having grown up in an alcoholic, abusive family, there is no way. NO WAY I would have stayed sober without the help of therapists in addition to 12 Step programs to have stayed sober for decades.
Thumbs Up 👍 and shared out.❤ Thank you for the video!!! Congrats on your upcoming Five Years Sobriety!!!🎈 Wow! That’s inspiring to me. I’m on my second month but everything is getting better and better every single day!!!
I think I used alcohol as the solution but it’s Poisonous ☠️! Now that I’m sober I’m starting to do the work!!💞 We save so much money when we quit! It’s so much better.
If you look at your emotions as “the problem” then you will be tempted to solve them and get rid of them. Alan Watts has the metaphor that trying to stop your feelings is like trying to smoothe the surface of a pond with a clothing iron, you are just going to create more ripples and expend energy in the process. My metaphor is the chinese finger trap. You don’t escape by struggling against it because it will use your own energy to strangle you. The only way out is to stop feeling guilty for having emotions, relax and allow, and learn how to sit in those emotions without creating a feedback loop.
I don't think that's always the case. Yes acceptance in an invaluable tool but for some of us we have created these very toxic ways of thinking that need to be reshaped.
Great video man. It hits home . I just made a video on feelings and emotions too. Check it out if you want or get a chance. Talking about your feelings and what's inside is so important in sobriety. For the first time in my 47 years on this planet I have gotten into therapy and have been actually doing the work. It also helps that I've finally found a therapist that I like and connect with. I could go on and on here but ill spare you. Just know that your message is heard and it really helps. One love!
"In my personal experience, nothing makes sobriety "easy"!!! If you think your approach makes it more "simple" by emphasizing certain ideas than sobeit!!!
Yep, but that's life...things get worse sometimes. And instead of avoiding it, it's best to figure out how to deal it. That's why therapists are great...they help you.

Great channel. Five years of freedom; what a favor you did yourself. You speak clearly and well…and promote sensible ideas and attitudes. Thank you.
Thank you. Thanks for watching.

I stay sober bc I lost the desire to drink. Pretty simple. Therapy has helped a great deal. AA complicates things.
Dude - thanks for putting this out there.
Awesome video
I agree xx
Good stuff mate
2nd day of sobriety after 2 months of heavy drinking... kip me in your prayers
💯👍

Don't give up! You'll be so much better off without it!

Talking about your feelings can make things worse sometimes too.

Oh write them out.
@@David.Masson I disagree man. When i talk about my problems if makes things worse. But everyone copes diffrent tho.
But doesn't it cost money to get therapy? I can barely pay my bills.
Yep. How much does drinking cost you every week? Also, AA is free.
