LFO - LFO (Official Video)

- Official video for LFO's self-titled anthem, released 26 July 1990.
“That was the one that turned us into a “real label”. We just weren’t really prepared for what would happen with that record. It was at the time when a single could come out and keep sneaking up and up; at first it was just into the top 40, next week it was in the top 20, then it was 12. We sold 130,000 12"s, which was just unbelievable, you’d get the same position now from selling 3,000.” - Steve Beckett (2007)

Legendary tune by legendary people from a legendary label and a legendary era
Pretty fucking legendary
*persons
It’s just a shame Warp ripped off LFO giving them just a few hundred quid for this single.
I concur! Sheffield/Leeds massive
I Think
RIP Mark Bell (February 22, 1971 - October 8, 2014), aged 43
You will be remembered as a legend.
RIP Saki Kaskas 1971-2016 other good guy will be remembered as a legend
Absolutely ☺️
Same birthday as me but two years older.. RIP...

Such a top tune, sounds so good to this day. What a bassline.
I remember playing this in my car and when that bass came in my windshield cracked!!!😆
Holy ****
What car was that?
@@bartekschacht1951 Chrysler Conquest
@@loscalvao6622
Damn!!! Thats amazing. Here in Germany that car was only sold from Mitsubishi...called Mitsubishi Starion.
Nice taste for cars you have/had👍😊
@@bartekschacht1951 we had the Starion also. Yeah I miss that car! Thanks bro👍 🙂 p.s Germany rules when it comes to cars!
Will still sound fresh in 2090.
The debut single LFO video was directed by Penny Downes {Costumes], John Foxx {Art/Graphics/Stop Motion}, Paul Plowman {Sets} & Gary Smith {Lighting}.
Mark Bell was a techno genius RIP

Kobrin? Didn't hear till yet? ruclips.net/video/oodoeoohoSA/видео.html
The sound of this has a hidden meaning to it, particularly with the barcodes and microchips being showed in the video 30 years ago. NWO all over it
@@richardwallace5226 There was in this a many others. We just didn't see it at the time.
@@DA-md6ki Neither did I. But when you hear the mysterious sound of this song, similarly to Papa uguine, future sound of London , it sounds like the powers that be are telling you that something evil was going to take place in the future. Call me hyper sensitive but i always felt that that was the case
Heard this back in 1990 on deep heat when I was 13 still one of the best tracks ever made
This is one of the most creative 90s dance music videos. Usually dance videos in the era just included the djs perform the song and add some dancers and whatever. This video is a visual treat
Directed by Jarvis Cocker, who made a few of Warp's early vids, before Pulp became a bigger success.

@@dark108xthink Jarvis did On by Aphex Twin also in Warp, not this
FSOL Papau New Guinea is worth a watch too
90's dance videos were pretty creative in general
Oh, I was sweet 16 in that extraterrestrial beautiful era. 😢😢 I wish I was young again but. Helaas. Time moves forward not backwards.
I love how the Dutch word 'Helaas' sounds like 'Alas'
There's just something about late 80's to early 90's inhouse techno trance tracks here...It just really stands out in that time.
This track, along with Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco, introduced me to a genre of music I’ve loved ever since ❤️❤️
printed and sticked on fridge. six yo daughter love that song after she listened once while showering. now she asking always: "Can we listen LFO?"
(🪦){⚰️}[🕸️]?‘除非你们有百
Mark Bell in our hearts! Still love his excellent album Advance!
Never knew there was an "official video" for this one. Loving it since 30 years!
they needed to do a video when it moved from the underground clubs to mtv. from memory it was something like erasure or depeche mode that helped with the video. thats mark and jez in the spray suits and masks
@@michaelsawyer Jarvis Cocker directed this.
I'm almost sure this video even made it onto Top of the Pops back in the day!
Remains one of my fave tunes...
@@paullaird2358 it did.
This, and, "What is House" - are both absolute gems.
Just been listening to What is House (it led me here) and wondered if it also had a video. I can't remember.
@@summerteeeth Don’t think there ever was a video for it; would still be a great idea, esp with all the honorable (house/electronic legends) mentions in the track! I should get off my ass & fill that void ;)
We are back..
What a throwback, man I watched this so many times back in the day on the old WarpVision DVD.
Some of the first electronic music I ever heard. What an impact this had on my life!
Hearing this the first time changed my outlook on life...
L...F...O...
Watch Dogs 2 brought me here 🔥
Same! Fire 🔥
Just before I left school for good at 16 in 1990, i went to a rave somewhere in norfolk near thetford, no idea where, myself and 4 girls, lucky me eh lol ended up following a convoy of cars from the services to some big farm building in the middle of nowhere, just 100s of cars parked down the roads for miles, we all took some speed on the way down there, my first time doing it, plus we had a smoke too, but when we got to the actual party itself, i was really coming up on the phet, and we walked in through these huge double doors to a small warehouse full of sweaty ravers, insane lighting and the loudest music i had ever heard in my life, and LFO was the tune that was on as we entered. fuck me did i dance that night, i ended up taking half an E as well, too scared to drop a whole one, saved that for the next party lol but wow, hearing LFO as we walked in was like the best welcome ever, that bassline fucking shook that old asbestos roof to bits, you could see dust falling down through the strobes but no one gave a shit. Absolutely mint night, this song was caned a lot, as was half the tunes i was listening to on those deep heat albums someone else mentioned!
July / August 1990... LFO - LFO, Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco, and Together - Hardcore Uproar all in the Top 20 at the same time for several weeks... Awesome days!
All great tracks 🕶️
Ah god I love this track so much. Keeps you in a state of tension with the anxious bleeps, the wavey synths scouring an eerie landscape, dirty teeth gritting bass and and those sharp, what are they - snare/'high hat ? - drumbeats. Genius. xx
Used to sit in the speakers at the local nightclub when this came on 🔊
めちゃくちゃかっこういい!
IT'S COOL!
This takes me back to listening to pirate station SCR in Sheffield and the awesome summer of 1990 as a late teenager. This was an absolute banger Warp Records division street I was there.
My goodness I've never seen anybody else ever mentioning SCR radio before 🙈 I too am from Sheffield & listened to that religiously 💗

The Best old electronic music
a true classic.. one of my faves
What the heck legit just finished listening to Frequencies and see this immediately just uploaded
Legendary track. I thought it was so futuristic as a teenager. Bought this record from Woolworths Old Swan Liverpool. 12" Vinyl.
Class.
Still sounds fresh as a daisy. Massively influential song. Beast.
Have seen him playing on his last concert, Cracow, Poland. The visuals were mind blowing, a minimalist huge white circle riding angrily fast on a screen.
My own personal favourite from the whole rave era, but it was tripping that drilled it into my psyche. Still sounds like the future in 2023.
It's nice to find a good quality 90s video
This got me into techno music back when I was a teenager. Thanks for sharing it again! One of my favourites to play on booming speakers, especially when the LOWS come in.
Bought this legendary tune back in 1990 when I was 21. Now 52 this still sounds amazing !!!
Totally agree , was 19 at the time and it blew me away , still play it and it’s never lost it’s magic
A thousand years ahead of its time...
"Warp" was a label like Punk that was inspirational not just in his music, but also it's sensibilities! rest in peace mark🎹🎧💫😵👌😎👍🙏✋✌
Great Electronic Sound ! Greets from Poland ;-)
I heard when the cutting lathe made the stamp it had to be stopped frequently and cooled down as the LFO grooves really warmed up the cutting tool.
the beginning!!!!😍
Good lord..that bass line. It's f'n amazing.
Happy 30 LFO-LFO-1990. This was and still is my Signature Tune from childhood. BBC Radio 1 1990 on a Sunday!
Got this tune back in day from Andy records,do you remember them lol, track still sounds good today,is it me that music back then was the bees knees
the birth of a legend
This is the stuff dreams are made of! Amazing era of music! Always carry it in my soul 😃
Mark Bell was indeed a techno genius... a huge loss to the genre when he left the this mortal coil! Warp and the other artists like Sweet Exorcist, Tricky Disco, The Step, Nightmares On Wax... too many to list off the top of my head but what a time in music it was... time to dust the turntables down!
Warp Vision is a nice collection of this time, 1989 - 2004

I used to think this music was made from stardust, Mandy and magic but I bought a cheap old digital synth and now I realise it’s at least a bit made from a Kawai K1 preset patch.
Legendary tune!
I was born 4 years after release of this track and i like it!
the bassline
birthing blissful nostalgia, amazing
I feel like I still judge all other “tracks” by this and ‘Voodoo Ray’. Essential. Both were played quite often, here in Detroit, in the early days.
Re-pressing immanent? We can dream. Would love their three albums on vinyl.
This was re-issued on Flash Forward last year.
@@sced7 That was only the LFO 12" though right? And there seems to be confusion as to whether or not it is official licensed (seems it is).
@devontodetroit First album was last reissued 2011 and the second and third album have never been reissued.
I have this on cd and when the bass comes the car vibrates
It's nuts !! I use this as a test for any audio equipment

Nice to see the video in HD. Can't believe the track is now 30 years old! I remember hearing it first on John Peel's show, and may well have been my introduction to the Warp Label.

Not only do I love this song, but I was actually JUST playing Watch Dogs 2 listening to this song.
I remember Dj Cool Cut Dee playing this at an Ektos rave he had an early promo copy didn’t know anything about the track at the time , we called it the Sonic bleep track but later we asked him about the artist and title - following week I went and bought 12 inch and 45 of it .

Back to the future tune , still an absolute stormer
About time. Nothing says 1990 like a University Project geting into the charts
About fucking time Warp. Where have you been hiding this? RIP MARK BELL
2 tracks that blew me away many years ago was this LFO LFO + LFO What is House .
The cool chords in LFO LFO were from the Kawai K1 keyboard Ic-8 arrangement EPIC
Does anyone know what keyboard n sound was used for the lead on LFO -What is house
these are still part of my treasured collection thanks Warp you always had the good tunes
Polygon Window - Polygon Window Warp doing it again
Timeless classic
Pretty sure John Foxx produced/directed the video for this track. Yes, THAT John Foxx. The electro pioneer himself.
aahh the first note still gives me goosebumps
Ah shit, now I remember this song and artist haha. I thought this sounded familiar in Watch Dogs 2.
Still rocks! Brilliant forever.
