What do I do with my broken or leftover rouge/compound? - Evan's Detailing and Polishing

- Much respect to Julia Childs cooking show. LOL I hope everyone got a laugh out of my introduction. Live, Laugh, and Love. Silly saying but life is short. Try to enjoy it.
In this video I show what we do with all of our leftover compound chunks or nuggets. I know many polishers that just throw them away or throw them at each other. For me as a business owner wasted product is wasted money. Every bit of money I can save goes directly into my bottom line. And when my bottom line looks good my employees do well. So we save everything. On average my shop saves around 600 lbs of brown compound and around 300 lbs of green each year. The sum total of this saves me thousands of dollars a year. Not bad for a day or two's worth of work.
Remember not to over heat your rouge/compound. Over cooking it can cause it to not work as well. You need the greases and oils that are in the bars to maintain so that they don't get ruined.
I hope you find this video helpful. If you are looking to buy the same products we use then head on over to goshineon.com/shop. We stock all the items we use in our shop. Thanks for watching. Хобби

Thank you! I truly appreciate it!
Great work I save mines but never cook them now I know
Thank you.
I have the same trays that you are using and while I was cooking Thanksgiving turkey and food I was also melting green and brown pieces from the last 2 years and my bars look and weigh the same as yours. Counted and figured I saved myself about $300 while cooking Thanksgiving. 🤑
Multitasking and saving money! Can't get any better than that. Hope you had a good Thanksgiving! Thanks for the comment.
Hilarious house of Frightenstein🤘🤘

Very efficient! Love that cab over.
Thank you. The cabover is now getting a facelift and an upgrade. Stay tuned.
I thought my supplier was crazy when he told me 30 years ago to keep my leftover chunks and melt them down and make new bars out of them. I'm glad to see you do it and save money my recycling your chunks.
I've saved tons over the years. It'll surprise you how much you can save.
Jackt up my green bar today so here I am. thanks Evan. That cabover is fine as hell.

You should! Hope you can save money and help your business even more.
Awesome i did not realize how simple this could be of a process to juste melt the left overs sure can save alot of money what a golden nugget this was keep it up love the videos.
Glad it was helpful! I do it every year and save thousands. Enjoy. Thanks for watching and commenting.
That’s cool, I don’t do enough to save my chunks, maybe I’ll ship them back to you!
LOL Even 20 chunks or so will make one new bar.
I've been using them down until the really tiny piece slips and shoots across the shop 🤷♂️
I did that for years too but it is just lost money everytime.
I add I bit of mineral spirits to my melting process. It makes the green alot thinner and easier to pour. Plus mineral spirits is a "oily " petroleum product
I understand. I just don't like adding oils to my compounds but to each their own. Everyone has their own process. Thanks for watching.
Awesome tips!! Its a no brainer😎
Definitely dont sound silly at all👍🏼
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching and commenting... Truly appreciate it.
You can add a little mineral oil back in when need to keep sealant going in your favor
If you let it get too hot you sure can. Mineral oil is great for sealant.
Very good my friend
Thank you! I appreciate you taking the time to comment!
What a wonderful tip, I would have never tough of that, but always thank you for your valuable information. And that’s why I always come here for any help I need.
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching and supporting.
That's Great Business sence Evan nice Work waste not want not👍
We agree! Thanks for watching.
Sounds like if you over cook them you could have a compound that’s more abrasive than the brown is naturally.
Could use it to cut bad stuff that doesn’t quite need sanding but needs something a bit more aggressive than the natural brown.
Then you could probably use the same buffing wheel to use the regular brown.
Just a thought from a guy who knows absolutely nothing about it.
never thought about this
Thanks for watchin!
They make a tasty snack 😎
LOL Thank you for watching.
Can we add some additive increase adhesiveness as big blocks break down in summer heat here
When you are melting them down and pouring them into the mold they will dry out.
If i find an old bar of compound that is rock solid, is that still useable ? Don't want to chuck them but not enough to melt a full pot lol
Some brands are still good. Some not so good. Depends what the product is made with depends on if it will have a shelf life.
Not many fridges in WI that have more anything than beer inside, especially polish
That is very true. Except my shop fridge. LOL
Why not use a mold with a handle? Eliminates new chunks.
Good tip. We have molds for them.
If you cut the green chunks up even smaller such as using a blender into almost shavings will that help the melting?
Yes but blending them in a blender isn't easy. They are pretty solid.
I love it!
Always appreciate all your suggestions/ideas. 👍👍👍
Thank you! Cheers!
Lol, my 15 year old laughed when you said chunks of brown
LOL
Hey bro, after I’ve cut with primary secondary and final finishing wheel, what would cause a haze type effect? How can I resolve this?
What do you mean by haze?
That's alot of money to save by doing this.
Thanks for watching.
What an amazing vid i always wondered if you can do that , one thing i gata say that must smell so bad, cheers great vid my friend

That would be awesome. LOL
@@EvanStegerMetalPolishing just the visual aspect of bars coming out looking nice would make me happy 😂
@@TheDakotaThurmond Agreed but they are expensive to have molds made.
