Thank you for sharing. This was a great opportunity for my students to see for their fossil unit and our literature connection - - The Dinosaurs of Waterhouse Hawkins by Barbara Kerley
Very interesting Ralph. I am in a bit of a hotbed for the fossil record here in Alberta. In Lethbridge AB they have some of the largest sites and digs in the world a a huge museum much bigger than I saw in New York. It’s interesting to see these sculptures from the mid 1800’s. Maybe one day they will be making sculptures of us 😃
There is a direct link. Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, organised the Great Exhibition and the building of the Crystal Palace. When the palace was moved he was involved in planning the terracing and design of the park at its new location, including the display of dinosaurs as he had a keen interest in the new science of paleontology. They named a dinosaur after him, and also Alberta in Canada, because of the wealth of fossils where you live.
Ralph Astley Thats very interesting Ralph. I believe they named the province itself after their daughter Princess Louise Caroline Alberta. But as you point out an interesting link.
You must be right - my mistake. I had always assumed it was after Albert as I didn't realise they had a daughter whose third name was Alberta, but the dinosaur connection still holds good, I think.

I'm very pleased to hear that.
Thank you, I wanted to see these but had to be in Glasgow this weekend.
You're welcome. I wish I had done a bit of research prior to my visit as there is a lot to discover in the park apart from the dinosaurs.
Your video gave me and my grandson the idea to do our own one
Just watched it - much better than my effort.
Very interesting mate
Thanks
