    Forget thinking about procrastinating first. Start doing any one thing daily, like Cycling for 1 hr. Meditation, 10-12 Suryanamaskar everyday. Waking up early. anything what you like. Start doing any one thing everyday consistantly. After One month, two month. depending on your behaviour adaption pattern (for me it was 4 months). You will start doing other necessary things in life automatically. If you will became more sharp & focused. You won't procrastinate. So do things which makes you sharp & focused. if you cycling. Do cycling. Don't play music. If you're doing exercise. Do only exercise. Focus on your body sensations. Don't listen music. You are ruining your focus abilities. One thing at one time. Be organised. Simplify your work process. Part them in different steps. You won't procrastinate again. Trust me I have tested this. This is my formula.

    If this is how procrastination works, then best solution is don't tell the mind that you will get good marks three months later. As here reward is delayed.
    Instead set daily reward system by breaking down study material for one day. If you complete that work for that day, give yourself reward like listen ur favourite song, eat your favourite chocolate or anything which you like.

    Bro chatgpt gave better answer
    What is the neuroscience behind procastination?
    Neuroscience suggests that procrastination involves a battle between two parts of your brain:
    the limbic system and the prefrontal cortex.
    Limbic System (Instant Gratification): The limbic system, often referred to as the "emotional brain," seeks immediate rewards and pleasure. It's like the impulsive friend who always wants to have fun right now. When you procrastinate, this part of your brain may push you to choose short-term enjoyment over long-term goals.
    Prefrontal Cortex (Future Planning): The prefrontal cortex, or the "thinking brain," is responsible for planning, decision-making, and considering long-term consequences. It's like the responsible friend who thinks about the future. When you're motivated and focused, your prefrontal cortex helps you make decisions that align with your long-term goals.
    Now, imagine your brain as a committee trying to decide what to do. The limbic system is shouting, "Let's watch this funny video or play games!" while the prefrontal cortex is calmly saying, "We should work on that important project."

    Any hack to stay motivated for a longer period of time?

    • @Priyavaradharaj1208
      @Priyavaradharaj1208 Год назад

      You can't rely on motivation all the time, you need consistency, your brain doesn't wants you to work on long term goals, it wants instant gratification, you need to break it into small goals and give yourself a treat, which will help you to motivate yourself, that no matter what you can do it. So enjoy what you do, example, if you're studying, relate with your self, As a med student, when i study anatomy, I relate it with myself. All you need to do is, take baby steps everyday, because you can't climb a mountain in a single time, you've to take small steps, try telling yourself that i want to study for 5 mins, to break the inertia (because your brain doesn't want you to work hard) use pomodoro technique. BEING CONSISTENT IS ONLY WAY TO BREAK MOTIVATION WHENEVER YOU NEED.
      Hoping it was useful for you.

    Brilliant video. I literally started to create a band for every variable that you showed, so that I could derive a numerical value. There are pros and cons of trying to get a numerical outcome. But still it's worth a shot. Expectation of an outcome could be a 1 or zero. Value of outcome could be a range between 1 - 5 , where 1 is the lowest value and 5 is the highest. Timing of outcome could be either a 1 for now, and actual number of months/years i.e. 5 if it's 5 months, or still 5 if it's 5 years. Just the value is important here. Now comes the last bit. Tolerance to outcome. If I set it to zero, for a 'i want it now' approach, then whenever I do that, my action would be a null value (being very numerical here!). So I have to set a band here as well. Let's set this to being between 1 - 5. But this time, 1 means I am willing to wait, and 5 means I want it now, anything in the middle is just personal variance. Then the 'study' task starts to get a very realistic value in my mind. Maybe I can do that to all my tasks, both boring and exciting, and then prioritise them. Worth a shot?
