  • Brothers Bill and Mark Hightower fly in Cessna 120 from San Jose Airport (SJC) to Hollister Airport to see friend Burt Camenzind doing initial test flying of his home built VariEze on July 4, 1985. Video was taken of the VariEze in flight from the ground as well as from the Cessna 120. Finally, cameraman Mark changed planes and took video from the back seat of a Cessna 172RG Cutlass piloted by his father CFI William Donald Hightower Sr. The video ends landing the Cutlass at San Jose International Airport.

NO....the Voyager was NOT constructed by Burt. He designed it, then it was built by Dick Rutan and a whole team including Bruce Evans, Michael Dilly, Mike Melvil, and others.....

This has absolutely nothing to do with test flying a Vari Eze. It is more like an random collection of wobbly videos of uninteresting aircraft..
