Nice job on the landings. What I found on my Long EZ was practicing slow flight just above the stall buck really helped me to slow down for landing. Also, because the airplane is so slick, try using 90kts on downwind. As you already realize, it is very hard to go down and slow down in the EZ family of airplanes. As you said, the canard is still "flying" well after the landing. My technique is to get the Long EZ slowed down to my final approach speed, and then put the speed brake out when the runway is made. This drops off an additional 5kts. Also, by delaying putting down the speed brake, its one less thing to do on a go around. Have fun.
@@bmckinney10 My VariEze is back in the air! I bought is in December 2019, and it had not flown since 2009. ruclips.net/channel/UCNnm0zpj-yQcpkiXnd4RdEQfeatured
Buying an already built VariEze is one of the most dangerous things you can do. My wife and I bought one in 2004, it is a great airplane and we love it. BUT ... a seller will not be honest about potential problems or build errors. You may need to refurbish neglected aspects. You will need to learn about airframe construction and systems. You will need a Licensed Mechanic (A&P) to inspect and approve your work, because you won't have the Builder's Cert. Join the Canard Owners & Builders Assoc.

Thank you , I have done almost everything you said and my landings are much better... such a fun airplane to fly
I’m envious as heck and glad for you.
Nice landings Doug, kept the nosewheel off very well.
Thank you
thats beautiful, i have the same Airplane. do you still have yours?
I love the aerodynamic braking
Thats cool ...beautiful plane
Thanks for sharing ! Do you need a different endorsement for this kind of aircraft? That’s is my dream Airplane
No, just a private pilots license (in the USA) and it is a wonderful fun machine.
My friend has built 2 Var, and a Cozy.
Now he is working on his 3rd Var...
Enjoy it they are fun..
Great plane, I'm a fan.
what i wonder,
How many flying hours or experience do you have before you fly in this type of aircraft?
Awesome!
Did you get a lot of hours in a Grumman Yankee as Rutan required in his newsletters back in the 70s when I was building one?
No, i spent about 1/2 hour in the back seat then off into the wild blue yonder i went.
Did you build it?
Check the bearings in the left main.
The noise is from the runway, brand new grooved runway. .. :)
Hi Doug - does your nosegear have the spring shock-absorber or is it just a tube from the gear leg to the wormgear drive?
My nose gear is a solid tube....no spring.
@@dougframe745 Thanks. I converted mine from the push-pull tube/knob to the worm-gear crank. I kept it as the solid tube as well.

Why do you sound like you just ate peanut butter? Drink some water before talking! Awesome plane!
Beautiful plane! My goal is to be able to buy a Vari next spring/summer
Cool, you wont regret it ... Soooo fun to fly
