Aren't you getting confused between dynamic range and brightness. The S8+ is actually producing shots with the better dynamic range and not the p10+, which is washing out detail to achieve brightness?
I guess you didn't actually check out the results. Having more contrast doesn't automatically mean higher dynamic range, please check the images again and you can clearly see which one captures more detail in dynamic range.
P10 plus has a good camera but the Samsung Galaxy s8's camera is simply better. The s8 has a great camera. Colors for the Huawei p10 are so flat and muted. Huawei still has a ways to go to match the best smartphone cameras.
P10 Camera is better than the s8's. The colors are much more realistic, hence being flatter. There is also a wider range of settings and tools to use for professional shots, more like a DSLR. S8 is a good camera, it just isn't as good. Plus you can export RAW over JPEG for photo editing and the phone itself is cheaper.
