I haven't seen anyone catch crabs that big in a while. That looks delicious.
It surprised us to and they were full of meat. Thanks again for Watching
Very nice video and great information thank you guys.
Thank you and Thanks a lot for Watching
Here in Rosedale, MD, I live on a tributary off of the Chesapeake Bay. If we are going to use chicken, we get the cheapest chicken you can get. Chicken necks! We steam our crabs whole. And we eat all the innards! There is nothing like getting crabs packed full of their yellow mustard. The great thing about really big crabs is you can get and eat the sweet and juicy leg meat!
We started cleaning our crabs years ago when we lived in New Jersey the waters we lived around got so polluted the State recommended cleaning the crabs because most of the toxins were in the innards, before that when I worked on a commercial fishing boat I'd set a couple of traps around the docks and actually got sick from eating the whole crab now it's just a habit.
Thanks for watching
Hello love your videos I’m from Maryland now live in Australia. I Recommend chicken neck salt it the day before and razor Clams great bait I was a commercial crabber for 20 years. But thank you for the videos
I'll try it, thanks for the tip and Thanks a lot for Watching
Nice video. We like using fish carcus too because we're cheap. We just made a video to see which worked better.( chicken or fish) The ones of us that love being on the water know crabbing ain't just about the catch.
Looks awesome!
Thanks
Great video! And BEAUTIFUL GINORMOUS Crabs!!! I mean good gracious! Those are some beautiful huge crabs!
They were nice crabs, we were lucky that day. Thanks a lot for Watching
All other things being equal, you’ll almost always catch more crabs with fish bait than chicken. Also, September is one of the best times to be crabbing, they’re more numerous and larger.
Your right I've been using fish over 65 years up north I used to catch my own Bunkers, (menhaden, pogies) it's the same fish, best bait. Thanks for Watching
Looks good as usual. You guys really crab a lot. Guess in Florida the season is a long one.❤️
You're right, you can catch Blue crabs year round. We also go shrimping, and the season is coming up shortly. Thanks again for Watching, Diane
Here is SC we can use 2 traps with a recreational fishing license. Our crabs have to measure 5" point to point to be keepers. God bless and stay safe!
In Florida your allowed 5 traps and no size limit on blue crabs but we just keep the larger and heavy crabs we try to release all the poor ones.
THANKS for WATCHING
Love y’all buddy those crabs look so good
Lovely crabs mmm, one item I must inform is the aluminum pots have to go, need to be stainless steel, and they may be
Our newest one is stainless steel. Thanks for Watching
Great video thanks for bringing us along I'll definitely do my best to continue to follow your Channel
We'd appreciate it, Thanks
Nice-looking crabs we use a baby bottle brush a lot bigger and less scrubbing
Thank you for this. Huge help
Hi nice catch they way I do it I put a bag of ice all over them on way home it stunes them makes them easier to clean won't pinch you top pops of easier then out side use your garden hose with a spray gun you can wash the guts out much faster and easier
We use ice sometimes on short trips, but when we want to keep them alive for a longer time we wet a burlap bag and cover them, we've kept them alive for 40 hrs that way with no losses. Using the hose is a good idea. Thanks a lot for Watching
I like having the top shell on my crabs.
When we lived in New Jersey years ago the state recommend cleaning the crabs because of the pollution in the area, we just got used cooking them like that way, but we like them whole also. Thanks for Watching
WOW!
Thanks a lot for Watching
Also try salted eel it makes a great bait.
We'll try it, we usually do good with Spanish Mackerel racks and heads but we didn't catch a lot last year because of the red tide in the big bend. Thanks again for Watching
I love your videos, are you in Northern Florida?
We're in East Central Florida, Thanks for Watching
Try using a water hose with a nozzle on it that creates good pressure to clean the guts out. It works great!
We use a hose when we clean them outside but when we do them inside the brush works great. Thanks for the tip and for Watching.
Do you build your own traps? Thank you for sharing your adventures with us!
Not the wire traps but I'm building some Stone Crab traps
@@TheOldCoupleOutdoors That would make a great video! Building and using stone crab traps!
I might do it and see how it comes out
Have you tried or know someone who tried using both fish and chicken in the same trap as bait?
We tried it but it didn't seem to make any difference. Thanks a lot for Watching
We tried early on what type of chicken they only eat necks razor claws are best
Every time we go to get chicken necks they're out they ordered a 40 lb box but that didn't come in and not many razor clams in our area of Florida we used them in New Jersey. Thanks for Watching George
Mrs. Joyce, like your open toe shoes/sandals. They look comfy. What brand are they or will you please give a description?
The brand is Teva, Hurricane 4 Sport Sandal, Hazel Black on Amazon. Thanks a lot for Watching
Carcass
I had good luck with pigs feet split in half
You're right, we use them for stone crabs
Really
They last longer than fish because we usually leave our stone crab traps out about a week.
waste of time busting and cleaning just throw in the pot with a can of beer a little water and old bay and save beer when you eat.
We cook them both ways ( whole and cleaned ), when we have company over we clean them because they're less messy when they eat them.
Nice mess of crabs.
your show was great but what does your husband do? you bated the cages. you caught the crabs and then whenever you get home he gives you the privilege of cleaning them>
We have an inshore and an offshore boat, I can't operate either of them. He maintains the boats, cleans the boats after fishing,, he takes most of the videos and edits them, all boat problems are his and there's a lot of them, he offers to do it all set bait and set traps and he could but then what would I do and more than that I enjoy working it makes me feel young. Thanks a lot for Watching we appreciate it.
I’ve been having luck with smoked pork shoulders from the grocery store.
Thanks I'll try them and Thanks for Watching
