  • Today I will be explaining what kiss cut stitching/lettering/numbering is on a jersey. MLB has been implementing this method of stitching to their jerseys for a few years but is not the only league that has used it. Should out to King Leonidas for putting me up to game about this. Make sure to subscribe to him if you want to see some great jerseys and get educated about different jerseys.

Davis has to be one of the incredibly few that hit for the same average 4 years in a row.

They do kiss cut majority in basketball I think the reason is because it’s hand stitched I don’t think it had anything to do with being lighter on court but the authentic basketball from that era are all machine stitched instead of kiss cut handmade it’s weird but I believe since they are hand stitched they cost more

I had always heard from the companies and leagues it was to make the jersey lighter but there could be multiple reasons for different companies/leagues.

Yay Area!!! What fabric are the numbers made of? I was seeing maybe sports twill?

it does look clean but i think it's kind of cutting corners compared to reg double or triple stitching. for on court tho it's better as far as being more light weight.i love that warriors home white triple stitched that's fire.

I hear you. I like it though because I feel the numbers and letters are more reinforced and will last longer. It also helps prevent the layers from starting to get unstitched or anything like that. A double or triple stitch does look beautiful though so I hear you.

@@BayAreaThrowbacks just feels more premium to me having more than 1 layer of twill.

@@JMacTheFanatic I really don't know but I just read an article that said it might be because of the way the "machine gently touches the fabric with the laser and makes the cut". I have no idea if that is correct but that's what I was able to find.
