- This is a 1976 Volkswagen Beetle which has been swapped with a 5.7l HEMI engine. Justin "Gus" Johnson of Lucky Gunner Garage built this Volkswagen bug while looking for a project to challenge himself. He picked a Volkswagen beetle because they are difficult to chop the top on and intended it to be a cheap and easy project. The hot rod vw turned into something else as it turned in to a Ed "big daddy" Roth would build. Most beetle engine swaps typically use Subaru or Porsche boxer engines, this one features a 5.7l HEMI from a 2012 Dodge Charger. The engine is mostly stock but does feature a custom intake, headers, and custom exhaust. Power is driven to the rear wheels through a 5 speed automatic transmission in a package that weighs less than 2500 lbs. The second owner bough the vehicle and painted it the Nardo grey color you see here. The vehicle was originally satin black but the new owner felt it looked unfinished. The engine cover has been known to blow off so the carbon fiber cover is now bolted on. The vehicle features 4 wheel independent suspension with 18 inch wheels and 14 inch brake rotors.
