- Members of the “Central Park Five” sued former President Donald Trump over “false and defamatory” statements they allege he made about their 1989 case during a presidential debate last month. CNN's Katelyn Polantz reports. #CNN #News
They were children when this happened to them. They were in jail for no reason for years because they could not defend themselves or had the money to do so. Those inflamatory uninformed statements in those newspapers created and influenced the arrest for a crime they did not commit. The 5 have been exonerated but their youth was taken from them.

The central Park men were wrongfully accused and when being interrogated each individual was pressured and forced to blame one another for a crime they did not commit. the corrupted police department and the feds at that time was all corrupt and wanted to close the case throw away the keys & move on.
So those police and prosecutors were corrupt, but I guarentee you dont feel the same way about Alvin Bragg, Fani Willis, Jack Smith or Leticia James.
Most of them were minors at the time, between age 14 and 16, when they were interrogated and coerced into confession. Once they got adequate legal representation they pled not guilty. There was no witness or physical evidence to connect them to the crime. In 2002, a convicted murderer and rapist confessed to the crime, and DNA evidence confirmed his guilt. Trump has not apologized. Black men please think again before voting for Trump. He wants to send the US military against any citizen he perceives as his enemy!

Evidence that includes oh you know pictures, video, audio, witnesses, his own legal counsel and co-conspirators turning against him, etc.

The public was initially informed that five young men had pled guilty. Subsequently, it was revealed that they were not guilty and had been coerced into confessing. Does this not align with the truth as it was understood? Additionally, the phrase "hurt a person and ultimately killed a person" seems to be employed figuratively, indicating severe harm, not explicitly stating death.
Also keep in mind at the time, five young men had confessed to the crime, so for him to advocate for the victim can be seen as a noble and honorable stance. This was before any evidence surfaced proving their innocence. Importantly, he never once stated that they should not have been exonerated, nor did he claim they are still guilty. With that in mind, I must say that I am deeply moved by the documentary on Netflix, and I am grateful that justice was ultimately served through their exoneration. However, from that earlier perspective, I find it difficult to see any inherent wrongdoing in Trump's actions or statements.
Yes, let's once again reward these men who later denied and were cleared of any involvement in the rape but freely admitted to watching and being involved in other crimes that night. Let's not forget they were charged with crimes against two other victims. And, they've already received $41,000,000 in restitution. The old saying you lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas comes to mind -- as teenagers already running with 20 to 30 others harassing, terrorizing, beating, and mugging joggers and cyclists they were clearly on a righteous path. I studied their case in university and there was evidence that they were involved, but there was a reasonable doubt because they discovered an individual who they could prove was involved that wasn't with them.
