I love my pantry….we were asked if we could make meals for a family that had an emergency…we made 5 oven ready meals that night and never went to store…it was a blessing to have well stocked pantries, freezers, etc.
We recently bought property and it cost us every single penny we had to scrape together the down payment. It was nice to have a stocked pantry when we couldn’t afford groceries. I don’t even think the kids noticed we couldn’t afford groceries for a while.
oh my. my daughter hates boxed or canned food. i got her spoiled with from scratch. .lol. but reading your comment im thinking now that i have a job. i can get some pantry items and help feed others. Weird that im just realizing this b/c i used to cook for 200 once a month from my home to feed others in my low income community. And i cooked for homeless at my local shelter daily. Both were volunteer. And now that i live in a nicer subdivision I felt like i coldnt' do it any more. But yeah there are families that need help and i can do that as need arises. Thank you. Now my pantry items will come to good use
I just wanted you to know how much I love you! I suffered two strokes at the end of 2021 and was basically confined to chair and bed. But thanks to God I'm doing really well but I wanted you to know how much I enjoyed you and how much watching you got me through my day also!! Keep it up Brooke much love to you!
$50 a week has been our max budget for a while now & it's been really tough. I greatly appreciate your videos! Budgeting & couponing is absolutely necessary
You have helped us so much in reworking a budget, researching the budget binder system and working on a food pantry. We have been going through a huge financial struggle and bankruptcy and this is helping re teach everything for us
@@SouthernFrugalMomma I am interested to know how you pay for things when you go to the store. For example, if you go to Walmart, do you do six different transactions so you can pay for groceries, household, snacks, clothing, etc. separately? How does this work in the practical day-to-day life?
@@Amy2775Allow me to answer how I use this system. I combine all food and household into one category in my budget envelopes and rarely shop for both food and clothes in the same trip. I only buy clothes once or twice a year. I guess if I did food and household separately, I would probably just buy household every couple of months as a separate trip. Combining them works for me. You don't have to be inflexible using this system, but it gives you a very good understanding of where your money is going. That is good information.
I just got my budget binder two months ago and I’m doing great so far! Mine don’t have as many pages in use but I think I’m doing like 4 inserts right now. Savings, vacation fun, clothing and birthdays. I know, I don’t have one for groceries but for me I have separate funds for food. Works for me. I have tried saving money by just leaving it in my checking account and not using it but it just doesn’t work for me! So I knew that having the cash separately in another location would do the trick. BINGO! It’s amazing how easy it is to save and plan! Thank you for showing us what this is and it’s changed my whole mindset and in a very positive way! Thank you so much!
I really appreciate you doing a video on your budget binder. I just watched your video and I really appreciate you doing this. I am going to work on doing this to help us out. I am finding your videos are worth watching everyone for all the reasons you do them. You are doing a great job!!!!
another good point about starting cash envelopes is too not start with 10-20 envelopes. you'll start to feel that your pulling yourself thin and it'll be too easy to pull from another envelope. start out with 1 or 2, just do those until they're fully funded, then add a couple more. i started with just 1, now i have 6. and all you really need is a notebook for your budget and some white envelopes. i make my own envelopes from craft paper from the dollar store and a 10 cent notebook from back to school sales. the whole point is to save money right?
I learned from another ytuber take one spaghetti sauce with about half jar of water add a little seasoning and with a few crackers or grilled cheese a Awesome but inexpensive tomatoes soup that can feed about 6 people.
You should do more cash budgeting videos ! This video got me into cash budgeting, it’s absolutely amazing ! You made it to were it didn’t seem overwhelming. Also….my pantry is growing 😊 thanks love .
This video is wonderful! My husband and I raised and homeschooled 5 kids on just his income. Our 36th anniversary is coming up and we started this type budgeting somewhere around our 3rd yr together. We LOVED it! It's allowed us to live almost debt free and it's such a blessing. You do have to learn to say "NO" to yourself or "WAIT" to yourself and I imagine it would be super hard to do if both partners weren't on board to make it function. Thank you for sharing the details with us. What a wonderful blessing :)
I immediately pull out of the bank what is not needed in there for bills that are on auto pay. This prevents me from spending needlessly or when I'm bored browsing the intranet lol I put away $25 MONTHLY for meat. I then wait for whatever deal is offered at the more expensive stores. This is ALWAYS better quality and ALWAYS cheaper than walmart. I just got 1.5 pound packs of bacon for $5 limit 2 They also had the same week boneless skinless chicken breasts for $1.77 per pound limit 6 pounds. I spent $23 and was able to roll over $2 into the next budget. About 5 weeks ago it was ground beef that was on sale and I purchased 2 great big packages of them. I am NEVER without protein and by budgeting and waiting for it to go on sale I am not subjected to current pricing (hope that makes sense). OH there was also about a month ago they had a 3.5 pound bag of WINGS yes WINGS for $5 limit 2 again by budgeting my proteins this way we are able to "treat" ourselves when we want because we have that item on hand. OF COURSE if I am IN STORE and I see a good managers special I will pick it up but this is not the norm for me as I don't usually go into stores!! Right now there are Ribs on sale and the average package is $6 for a long strip of ribs again these will go into the freezer and boom if the urge hits us we can have that treat as we purchased it on sale, off season and weren't subjected to current pricing. again I hope that makes sense
Last year I work as nanny most of my budget went in a envelop for Christmas sense I work in the summer time. I also save up 1,000 dollars I had my mom keep it in safe keeping for a surgery that I was doing that year. It does help to save up for other things that you might need that you don't know how to pay for it but then if you forgot about the cash that you got then you don't spend it as fast. I want to do cash this year to see how much we spend I think I do better with cash so that I'm not spending on more then what I just need.
I should do this. I consider myself a stay at home mom BUT I do work a few times a week as a server and we consider it supplemental income. I usually spend my money towards these things anyways but it would organize it much better.
I really enjoyed this video. I like how you budget. There is a challenge I started it's called one dollar challenge. Whenever you buy something and you get one dollar bills as change you save it everytime. You can do it as long as you want some people do it for the whole year and then count it.
Loved how you explained your envelope, and did not judge. Also loved that you do not borrow out of other envelopes! I have used cash envelopes for about 3 years.
i just love your idea about budge. My kids are grown but seems like we now have less money. So icant wait to start this. Thank you for ideas and food meals and plans. your doing wonderful job with all you do !!!!!
LOL! So I am NOT the last envelope budgeter on earth. Exactly what I do. First, I pay the bills and then divide the rest into savings, insurances which I only pay every 6 months, birthdays, Yule, future car repairs, medicines, clothing, gas, personal spending and so forth. When I have needs, the money is already put aside. I have a locked safe, fireproof place for the envelopes. Sometimes, I could swear I raised you myself.
Have you heard of a Berkey water filter system? We have one and love it!! It’s a big chunk of change upfront but it pays for itself and the water tastes amazing! We saved to purchase ours and couldn’t be happier with it! Two filters last my family about 5-6 years and it ends up being about $0.03 per gallon of water. We’ve saved so much money since we got it because we aren’t having to buy several cases of water each week. The water where we live isn’t the safest to drink from the faucet so the Berkey was a game changer for my family!
I am interested to know how you pay for things when you go to the store. For example, if you go to Walmart, do you do six different transactions so you can pay for groceries, household, snacks, clothing, etc. separately? How does this work in the practical day-to-day life?
Hi, so I know this is really late! But I noticed your question and I budget in a similar way and I buy multiple categories at the same store. So I just buy it all on one receipt, then when I get home, I add up the things in each category and write it on the receipt. Don’t forget to add tax for relevant items. Then I write down how much I spent in each category on my notes app, and keep it totaled there per month.
Your ensemble looked especially cute today momma! Your hair looks cute that way. Great budgeting. We”re trying to get back on track too. Writing all expenses down to get a handle on what we are spending.

Since eggs are so expensive I have been eating jasmine rice with stevia and cinnamon and a little butter . Great breakfast you can always add can or frozen fruit. Heat great breakfast.
I’m an older viewer, prolly in Meemaw’s age group and I’ve always kept my kitchen stocked so I don’t need to run to the store. Obviously having a stock means you already paid for the items so to my mind it’s more of a timesaver than a money saver. At my age I have plenty of time but I don’t like to go to the store and buy things I don’t need or actually even want.
Great video. I'm gettign paid tomorrow, so I've made up my budget. I'm pulling $25 cash to stuff 10 for household and $15 for health/beauty. I'm sending $25 into the account for my kids, $12 for Christmas, paying off my Ulta bill a whole payment early (yay!), phone bill and my tithes. Next week I only have $10 in bills, so I'm hoping I can pay off the two smallest charge accounts. I intended to pay out soem debts, but I want to go ahead and pay into Christmas, household, HBA, and soem bus fare. I'll spend some time to figure out what I can do. I'm hoping next week to have at least an extra $100 for debt repayment. I'll have a new debt account that will start coming due in February, so if I have other debts paid off I'll be ahead.
I started this method this month. I'm really kicking it in next month. This month I didn't have much left after going the whole month. I did break the don't borrow rule. Meat went on massive sale this week and I had no grocery money so I took it from my savings. I made a note on my budget sheet so I'll repay that money using February's grocery money. I couldn't pass up the sale I got almost ALL of my meat for February. I'd have purchased more but didn't have the funds. Prego was on sale at my Kroger store this week so I also bought 10 jars o.o we have spaghetti like once a week.
Love this video! We are cash envelope people (we are Dave Ramsey people)... I love love love how you mentioned NOT to borrow from other envelopes... that is so important!!!
Yes-- DO NOT BORROW FROM OTHER ENVELOPES!!! And make sure you pay the rent and the Bills first. I've always been poor so my envelopes were gasoline, car insurance, cigarettes, and miscellaneous
Wow😍 great to see paper money. We have awful plastic notes in England. When I open my purse(think you say wallet) the money jumps out, like a Jack in the box
You got such great deals this week - I grew up in a household where my mom was a stay at home mother - cooked every night & we rarely ate out - I can still see her putting $$$ into the envelopes similar to your method - I'm a Baby Boomer and I still identify with the financial principles I was taught - the tapes you're instilling into your boys heads will always be there - never doubt that the lessons you're teaching them and your voice will always be in their heads rolling around - LOL The best part is when you hear your kids say to their kids what you've said to them as they were growing up (Like turn those lights off - you're wasting electricity)
I'm going to try this but it will be a struggle. I never know if we will have $10 or $100 to budget at any time. Right now it's close to $0. But, this too shall pass. I think this will help to see where we spend our money and what we can cut back on. Also helpful for birthdays and holidays that always sneak up on me. Thanks for the help.
Yes!! You know what also helps open a savings account at a credit union that you don’t normally bank at and have $10 even $20 a paycheck go there it adds up quickly when you don’t pay attention to it.
I'm not sure how old you are but your Parents or Grandparents taught you well. Even at my age of 43 I still do my bill the same way you do. And I use a calculator when I'm at the grocery store I never want to get to the check out and not have enough money every parent needs to teach their children. I'm not bragging but I have never been to a good pantry and around the holidays when the News show's people in like and they are driving a car or truck worth thousands it makes me angry and you see the same ones every month or every time they are giving out free food and they don't ask questions you can lie and say that you are picking up for 3 different house holds and no questions are ever asked that makes me anxious and my anxiety is out the roof ‼️
I like that money binder idea. I haven't used cash for anything for years. I am going to start doing that. It is so easy to go over at the store because I know I have the money on the card and I am like, well it's just $8... and then I do that multiple times. Good luck saving for your Disneyworld vacation. Do your research because they do require reservations to enter a specific park on a specific day now and you have to pay extra for some rides as they are no longer included with your day passes. So, know before you go to get the most from your time and money.
@@sandraking9650 I have been there over 20 times and it is both family friendly as well as child friendly. Walt Disney World is located in Lake Buena Vista/Orlando Florida which is one specific place, not "worldwide". I'm certain you have specific occurrences and references in mind, and I respect your opinion, but that has not been my experience at all. As with any place, you have to be mindful of your family's safety and be alert and aware, because you are correct that abductions occur worldwide.
Thank you so much… this was excellent, practical actions for budgeting! Thank you!! I really appreciate all that you have shared! I will definitely make progress in doing this. You have inspired me!
I saw you hesitated on the 'cheese'...due to the ridiculous price!! I HIGHLY recommend....the very cool 'cheese shredder'...which works great on potatoes as well...and chocolate!!! I got two on Amazon...for under $23 each!!!! So worth the price...because store brand block cheese...is very affordable...and makes recipes so much creamier!!!! Love your channel!!
Love watching your channel, you could make another channel in the budgeting community there are alot of great ppl over there too 😁 lots of budget binders and saving challenges 👊
I got banana chips for my pantry stock up. I don’t store them for long term. When it’s time for a road trip we pack up the old ones for snacks and grab new packages for the pantry.
I had the flu in November, over Thanksgiving unfortunately, and it kicked my butt. I'm so glad he's better. Kids are so resilient! I'm glad it didn't run thru your entire family! Being an adult and having the flu was no joke. Js. Love your videos and how real you are with everything. I look forward to them and I'm using your tips and tricks in my shopping and using what we have! ❤
You got some great deals for your pantry. Looking forwards to how you fix your $50 groceries for the week to feed your family. Saturday I came down with a cold, Sunday I thought it was the flu. Monday both my sisters got a cold. Tuesday we all felt worse. My son called and told me we should all take a Covid test. We did, and damn we all have Covid. Our 91 yo Mom died from Covid in July 2021 so this hit us kind of hard but we’ll get through this. Once again I enjoyed my morning coffee as I watched your video, Brooke. Debi in Vicksburg, MS. 🥰🥰
Oh yes I suggest looking at Alexapure water filter at their site or at bp earthwatch site. This filter costs less than Big Berkey plus filters more.i can't take this water with fluoride & chlorine. Be blessed
Nice video- loved you explaining the envelopes! Mayo is insanely priced anymore! My New Year resolution was to learn to make any condiments from scratch when I run out from my stock- well I decided to try and make the immersion blender mayo it worked great! We used to use ALOT of mayo but recently we haven't been- so I am gonna just make it for the foreseeable future! I am in PA and your prices are so much lower than ours! I never see pasta sauce for that much on sale! Cheese is on sale for 2 for $6 here :(

Dusty: Wheeeee! Lol. Glad Ky is better! Can't wait for Part 2!
Yes-- DO NOT BORROW FROM OTHER ENVELOPES!!! And make sure you pay the rent and the Bills first. I've always been poor so my envelopes were gasoline, car insurance, cigarettes, and miscellaneous
Let's all help Brooke by letting the ads play during her videos. As always ur friend from Ontario Canada 🇨🇦
I love your budget binder, thanks for sharing!
Agreed. Never borrow from envelopes!
Thank you for showing how you do things. And I'm so glad he's feeling better 💝
I have a couple of budget binders. Love them!!!
Yes!! You know what also helps open a savings account at a credit union that you don’t normally bank at and have $10 even $20 a paycheck go there it adds up quickly when you don’t pay attention to it.
It's dragonflies and Cardinals for me.
WOW 😮!! Im in Southern California, and geesh your prices on groceries are so cheap compared to over here. Praying our food prices go down
I really liked watching you budget with your budget binder! I just bought one and am excited to start!
That place is not child or family friendly, many abductions worldwide
Don't go there
@@sandraking9650 I have been there over 20 times and it is both family friendly as well as child friendly.
Stuffìng money envelopes and budget binders are huge youtube trend, there are a lot of yt accounts on that subject. Ladies did all kind of variations.
Tonight we are trying your lentil sloppy Joes. I'm excited to try it. :)
I use my pantry and freezer we live off of it all month then restock a huge hall once or twice a year. We do use local food banks when needed
Thank you so much for including the budget binder info! I just got mine in the mail!!
Good job breaking down your budget process for anyone that needs it & as always thanks for reminding people to add to their pantry, it's so important!
I got banana chips for my pantry stock up. I don’t store them for long term. When it’s time for a road trip we pack up the old ones for snacks and grab new packages for the pantry.
I have tried envelopes before…. Think I am going to try it again:D. I ordered one of the cute binders you linked on Amazon!
Prego has had really good prices lately. It's the only one my husband likes. I've stocked up Big
Thank you so much.
Love the envelope stuffing!! Reminds me that I need to get back on it! 🥰
Hope you all are feeling well
I like your grocery budget very well organized with your household budget
I just bought one of the Binders from your Amazon site and I absolutely love it. It was $7:99
I have been doing my cash binders for about a year and it really helps to manage my finances so much better!
That " test" is as dangerous as the jab
Smart lady! My Mom use to do this when we were growing up & I have been doing the same.
❤❤❤Good haul. Like your budget binder.
I've been adding to my storage pantry every grocery trip. Thanks, Brooke! Have a fantastic Friday and be blessed always! xoxo
You are the best and your family is beautiful....Dusty is sweet...this from an ol lady...lol
Awesome ideas, thanks for sharing ❤️❤️❤️
That's exactly what the pantry is for, right? And I'm so glad Kylen is feeling better!
Very helpful budget stuff too
Great budgeting and great ideas, I hope Collin is better
Cheese is on sale for 2 for $6 here :(
Cheese here on sale in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 is 2 for 9.00 for a 400gram pkg. And that's on sale.
I just noticed you have the same microwave I do. Also I love your videos.
I love your budget, really nice!
I love the budget envelope idea! I do it in a different way but going to try the binder idea! Love your ideas Brooke. Thanks! Hugs!
I love your channel! I’ve been incorporating your style of budgeting and stocking my pantry, it’s been good for me, I’ve been avoiding impulse purchases and have actually been able to save money! Thank you so much for sharing!
Love the videos!
Thanks for tips & ideas!
Have a wonderful week!
Glad Ky is feeling better!😀
Love you in Arizona! Keep it up!❤️
